Let's take a moment to appreciate the fact that the first two times Palpatine tries to turn Anakin against the Jedi, in Revenge of the Sith, Anakin’s first instinct is to stand by them.

In the script and the comic book adaptation, he takes it a step further and declares the Jedi are his family.

As shown here... he’s mastered the theory of the Jedi teachings. Rationally-speaking, he knows the Jedi are good and the Sith are evil.

Unfortunately, it takes discipline and commitment to put these teachings into practice. That’s the part Anakin struggles with.

This is partly because throughout his training, while the Jedi were trying to teach him things like discipline and emotional intelligence, Palpatine would tell Anakin that "he doesn’t need any guidance, he’s perfect just the way he is", enabling him.

Despite that failing, Anakin is still a trained Jedi and there is no scenario in which Anakin would just choose the Sith over the Jedi.

Which is why Palpatine switches his approach and stops framing the choice as a choice between the “Jedi or Sith” but rather a choice between “Jedi or Padmé”… 

… and that makes Anakin’s defenses crumble.

But that rational part is still there. Deep down, Anakin knows the Jedi are good and what he’s doing is straight up evil.

So as he lies to Padmé, he lies to himself.

He focuses on the bad so it makes the killings easier to swallow.

"The Jedi were plotting a treasonous coup to overthrow the Republic. A strike force led by Mace Windu tried to assassinate the poor old defenseless Chancellor."

"They’re all gonna come for Anakin, now, so they need to be eliminated before they kill him."

"The Jedi are evil, they turned against him, and the galaxy is better off without them."

"He’s doing to end the war and bring peace to the galaxy, because it is better off with a strong leader who’ll put an end to the squabbling and indecisiveness of a corrupt Senate."

"He’s doing this for Padmé."

It’s all bullshit, he doesn’t actually believe that.

But it’s the only way to pacify that rational part inside of him, the valorous Jedi, the sweet little boy who keeps telling him to stop.

So this, right here...

... is Anakin repeating Palpatine's paper-thin rationalization to make himself feel like he's still in the right. Nothing more.

I wanna see someone like Ezra who has basically raised in the jedi equivalent of a dumpster argue with Obi Wan's ghost I think it'd be funny

socratic seminar with ezra, kanan, ahsoka, luke, mace, and obi-wan. the goal is to unanimously agree on one thing about the jedi.

i know people are calling picrews cringe and all but i can not hate the simple joy of making and dressing up a little cartoon person and then looking at it and going “it’s me! :D”

So I was watching The Wrong Jedi and a scene that particularly pisses me off is that after the jedi council expels Ahsoka the sentinels snatch the sika beads off her head. The first time I saw it i almost screamed out in rage. The rewatch hurt me just the same.

So, when Ahsoka is expelled… and that shitty temple guard walks up behind her and just…

like fucking ask her for it. 

I fucking hate this action and I get it they all think she has done something horrible and is responsible for a terrorist attack… but they also know Ahsoka. And to snatch an accessory off her, something that holds a lot of meaning to her as a jedi and a padawan, is so…. so…awful and its akin to stripping her. This scene alone justifies her departure from the order. This was nothing short of humiliating and the guard shoudl be glad he wasn’t sucker punched.

And whats worse is that this bullshit occurred for the second time. The first time it was Bane who did this..

Once again it was so awful to watch as a girl. Cad Bane was an amazing villain and someone equally matched to deal with the Jedis and meticulous with what he did. But then he does this… and you can tell he knows he has the power and so deserves to rid her off her possessions. My mind couldn’t even calculate why anyone could believe that this scene was appropriate. She is just 16 and Bane is in his fucking 50s. Can you imagine how grotesque it would be to witness this… 

Bane was always shown as someone who cared only for completing the task at hand, and not taking anything personally. He wasn’t written as a monster, buta  calculated and shrewd bounty hunter. Cad Bane went from being a superior villain to just like any other awful and monster that has ever been written. We did not have to see Ahsoka stripped off her 

And what particularly pisses me off is that while Bane is still a villain, the sentinels cannot justify their actions. They have morals right? They know they should not treat Ahsoka… a child… the way they did. I get the scene is supposed to show that everything around her is set against her. But this could have worked if they had just asked her to give them her Silka beads. They did not, at all, have the right to snatch something off her person. Even if its a custom according to Jedi knights. Its nothing short of being barbaric

All I meant was is that once again, men all over the galaxy, are shown to have no respect for women. Whether its a villain or even a Jedi. Men will somehow always believe that they can take whatever they want from a woman, no questions asked. And with what’s happening in the real world already bad enough, this just pissed me off.

Echo and Fives. I always think about how the ghosts of fallen clones are probably just as much in pain when they watch their brothers who are alive and still going through it. I especially think of Echo and Rex 😔 I’ll probably draw more sad stuff about it

Venus has LOCKED tectonic plates??? How does that work? How are they even counted as individual plates if it’s the tectonic equivalent of Pangea?

it's not so much that Venus's tectonic plates are locked, it's more that it never had them in the first place!

which is a major surprise, actually, because Venus is the most Earth-like of the other planets in our solar system.

"what," you may say, flailing in consternation, "about Mars?? why are we trying to colonize Mars if Venus is more Earth-like???"

and it's a good question! Venus IS technically more Earth-like in the sense that it's right next door, is a solid 80% the size of Earth, and has both a working atmosphere and a liquid mantle composed of molten rock, BUT- it's also important to note that Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system and it rains boiling sulfuric acid at almost all times! our first probes to the damn place actually melted. MELTED.

this is what Hell looks like.

BUT ANYWAY so Venus is the planet in our solar system that's the MOST physically similar to Earth, our dear mother who does not rain boiling sulfuric acid on our heads hardly at all ever, so it's kind of a shock that its geology is COMPLETELY FUCKING DIFFERENT.

see, Earth's outer crust is broken up into a series of mind-breakingly-massive tectonic plates that sort of skid around on top of the liquid mantle, slowly drifting in different directions driven by Earth's rotation and bonking into each other randomly like a 300-million-year-long Pinball tournament!

but on Venus, the entire outer crust is a single solid piece sitting on top of the liquid mantle, like the peel of an orange.

though not as good for you. because of the whole Boiling Acid thing.

and contrary to what you might think, this actually makes Venus a VERY VIOLENT place! the outer crust twists and deforms slightly as the liquid mantle spins under it, like a water balloon being flung repeatedly against a wall by a small child, but all of that force can't really be dispersed because the crust is a single solid piece of rigid rock!

so what happens is that this force builds and builds and BUILDS until Venus can't take the strain anymore and has a very volcanic tantrum about it.

unlike the rest of the solar system, the surface of Venus is made of relatively new and entirely volcanic rock- because the entire planet is basically having a planet-wide eruption event at all times, with multiple huge volcanos just spewing gigantic amounts of liquid rock everywhere like it's their damn job, to the point where Venus is just getting resurfaced like a McDonalds parking lot every epoch or so.

aren't you glad Earth doesn't do this? I am SO glad Earth doesn't do this.

okay so i was laying in bed last night thinking of ur tattooine braid tradition obikin snippet and i galaxy brained. what if. just bear with me. what if the temple had its own courting traditions. and so obi wan starts courting anakin once he's a knight and he's like this is great anakin totally gets i'm courting him :) but anakin came to the temple late and missed the courting module in his classes unbeknownst to obi wan. so now obi wan is doing all these things and anakin is like. confusion. and then i thought. EVEN more galaxy brained. what if anakin was PINING this entire time and bc he doesnt realise obi wan is courting him, he decides to court him with tattooine traditions thinking that obi wan doesnt know them. BUT. even more galaxy brained. ofc obi wan knows tattooine courting traditions. he did all his research for anakin when he was still his padawan so he could know everything. so now anakin is courting him and obi wan thinks oh! he reciprocates. but the entire time anakin thinks obi wan doesnt know bc he doesnt realise obi wan feels the same!!!!! and even more galaxy brained. bc anakin doesn't realise what he and obi wan are doing are courting traditions (like idk, meditating together, or using each other's sabers/gifing additions to sabers), then maybe anakin, thinking this is like, jedi studies is like "wow i should try this with master windu-", and obi wan is like "WHAT THE F-". (idk whether anakin would acc do it but now all i can imagine is anakin talking to windu like want to medidate together? and master windu being like 😧. yoda is laughing in the background. "windu's worst horror, this is" 💚

AH ANON that is IS galaxy brained I love all the AUs where Jedi have courting traditions of their own and I love a good miscommunication and mutual pining and light angst so this is just beautiful 🥺

Also love the idea of Mace rejecting Anakin who is like “😞 I just wanted to get you to not hate me 😞 obi-wan and I always emerge from joint meditation feeling peaceful and focused and friendly 😭”

And Mace, who knows along with every other Jedi in the Temple that Anakin and Obi-Wan are courting, is the first person save Obi-Wan to realize that. Anakin doesn’t know that they’re courting.

Yoda steps in and tells Anakin to join him in the crèche to help him with an initiate lesson (which is on courting) where he brings Anakin up in front of the class and shows him the leather wrist cuff Obi-Wan has given him and also the lightsaber hilt that has a braided string attached that Obi-Wan gave him

Basically Yoda helps him get a clue in front of 25 initiates for the fun of it and anakin probably bursts into his quarters with Obi-Wan and he’s like “you’re courting me????” And obi-wan is like “you’re courting me !!!!” Like the Spider-Man meme if one Spider-Man was pointing at the other Spider-Man and the other Spider-Man had his hands thrown up in the air in exasperation
