The Battle of Crécy was the first great battle of the Hundred Years War and saw Edward III’s English army defeat the much larger French army of Phillippe VI near the village of Crécy-en-Ponthieu in Northern France. It is a popular day tour that can be done over a weekend from the UK and our self-guide audio tour is designed to guide you around the major locations associated with the battle. It begins at Blanchetaque, where King Edward’s English army crossed the River Somme prior to the battle. Then follows the French approach to the battlefield before concentrating on the site of the battle near Crécy-en-Ponthieu.
If you are thinking about doing a tour of the Battle of Crécy without employing a battlefield historian or guide to show you the battlefield then our ‘A Pocket Guide to the Battle of Crécy’ Is just what you need.
