the melody of the "i knew you" in cardigan is so bittersweet. it feels like this is at the point of time after james cheated on betty but just before he comes back to her. the a sound of the way taylor sings it is like bettys reliving every single moment they had (as is highlighted in other parts of the song) and being so sad that this happened but also acknowledging she'll love james anyway no matter what he does, because she knew him.

OK had to get off twitter and came back here to rant I don't even know why (acc I kinda do) I'm so mad abt this

tomberlain (I hope I spelt her name right) saw similarities between her work and folkmore and now claims she's been copied. the issue i have with what she said was she called tays work lazy. we've been following this woman since she was 16 I think the last thing anyone could call her is lazy. nobody asked her to release an album? why would she release smth she knew was half written by someone else that's literally not her at all. not that ik her personally but if u pay enough attention you'll know ts is a hard worker.

this girl DID raise some good points about how the album is automatically acclaimed by white men/privileged groups of people just because it's taylor swift buuuut u don't get to taylors level without hard work (and money which taylors acknowledged she has/had) and it sounds like she just targeted the wrong person here. go talk to the ppl who just jumped on the train for clout or whatever! u directing it at ts just makes it sound like jealousy which i don't actually think it is.

however she also said that if tay copied her she most likely copied others now that's NOT ok bc it's undermining integrity of another creator. if shes this upset by it send an email to taylors team or IDK ik it's hard because small artists aren't exactly rolling in it but that's an accusation that's not fair to make because she! doesn't! know!

maybe she feels protected by being small idk? but she then tried to change it by being all like "i hate twitter u can't say anything without being misunderstood" and its like sis u were perfectly clear. there's no point in saying "i have no ill will to tswift" if you're then gonna say "don't agree w some personal choices" bc although both can be true, putting that out knowing u have fans is sending a skewed message.

i think anyone who knows they have a following of some sort is responsible for making sure they are respectful and are an example to how we should treat others.

criticism is OK and welcomed but true criticism doesn't attack character and unfortunately this girl whose music I probably would've loved, did attack character. i don't rly like ppl like that so i can't appreciate their art cause there's a chance it came from an ingenuine place then :/

expanding on my tag rant, i don't feel intimidated by taylors ability to phrase things from my life into her songs if anything it seriously makes me want to do it even more than ever. she feels like a friend and folkmore as an album feels like her pushing me to speak what's on my mind because that's what she did and it feels like her saying if she can do it i can too

altogether; i was correct in saying this is my favourite of taylors albums to date. i couldn't pick a favourite before but this is definitely it because it's just where my music and my taste is right now (no shade to literally everything else which i adore) the poetry of the lyrics reaches a whole new level and is comfortably poetry in its own right without the music. with the music it feels like.... like SONG! like this is the essence (!!!) of what music should be and taylor if u even see this im talking from the same place that my songs come from right now and that's how understood folklore has made me feel. distilled and beautiful in its own right but also terrible and just so multifaceted, it's amazing and im running out of words to describe it but taylor I am so glad and so grateful you have the skill and talent and dedication to your craft TO be able to describe all these emotions, even the ones without names, in your music/poetry. seriously, thank you @taylorswift
