A book with an ending you aren't supposed to like.
When I talk to people who have read my book, Fairy Therapy, they are afraid to tell me that they didn't like the ending. (A few have not been afraid)
The thing is, this is completely intentional. There may be romance in my books, but I don't write romance novels.
I hate books where women give up their magic powers to be with a man, and I hate books where the fmc is 19 and the mmc is 2000 years old. I wanted to flip it having a younger mmc and an old fmc for once.
It's a story about love and grief, and not all of the characters are likable. I wrote this book while I was healing from my own grief. It's different from anything I've ever read or anything I've ever written.
It may not seem like the typical happy ending that people expected, but I would argue that it is still a happy ending. (Depending on which character you ask)
So, if you don't like the ending of this book, then good, you fell for my trap mwhahahahaha! I tricked you into thinking it was a romance novel, and it was actually tragic!
Check out Fairy Therapy, available where books are sold!

I first started working on Out of Perfection when I was in college. I was a French major and reading Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex just for fun...because that would sound like a fun read to college me. Anyway this particular part stuck in my brain:
“The oppressed can fulfill their liberation only through revolt. But woman cannot even dream of exterminating the males. The bond that unites her to her oppressors is unlike any other. The division of the sexes is a biological given, not an event in human history. Man is not a historical enemy like the bourgeois or the Jew; he is a necessity.”
I started thinking about what the world would be like if that wasn't true. What if we didn't need men? What if we could just clone ourselves?
A world without men would be a utopia for some and a nightmare for others.
In Out of Perfection, Claire, a clone escapes her all-female city, housed inside of a glass pyramid, and learns that there are still men outside. She explores a new America filled with dangerous mutants and feuding queens as she searches for a way home to free the rest of her clone sisters. Read the back cover below:
"The City of Perfection had remained hidden for over 300 years, encased in a glass pyramid with walls too thick to see through.
Many had encountered the pyramid, deep within the forest, but ignored its presence. It appeared to be nothing more than a dilapidated remnant of the old world. No one could have guessed that it housed an entire city of women, each identical to one another.
Claire is just one of hundreds of clones in Perfection who believe that the world had been destroyed by a nuclear war. Certain death awaits any woman who goes outside.
She detests her job and lack of individuality, but finds solace in forbidden books until her best friend threatens to turn her in. Claire is distraught, but when she finds a tunnel leading out of the pyramid she sees a way to end her suffering.
She leaves her home behind, expecting instant death, but instead finds herself surrounded by life."

Fairy Therapy by Miranda Dietz - Available where books are sold
Noah discovers that he can see fairies when he finds one stuck in a mouse trap on his porch. To him, her grey wings are beautiful, but to her, they are a hurtful reminder of her place in the world.
Fairies are assigned jobs based on the color of their wings, and fairies with grey wings are known as Sad Fairies.
Sad Fairies aren’t supposed to be sad. They’re supposed to make humans sad. It’s Fred’s only job, but she can’t do anything right. When her most recent assignment ends in tragedy, she decides to quit. She hides out in the human world, trying to forget centuries of trauma.
Fred and Noah bond over their shared experiences with depression, suicide, and death. Can they find love in all the darkness?

about a month ago I started replaying all Zelda games in chronological order and ever since then I've been toying with the idea of drawing all/most of the incarnations in some cohesive manner.
I've now finally settled on these Mucha-inspired diptychs, starting of course with the game that started it all!
