We are more than just a club on Appalachian State University's campus. We strive to spread awareness of the atrocities of the LRA, the funding for education, the restoration of war-torn areas in Central Africa, and the hope for justice after 26 long years of war. "Our Liberty is Bound Together."

“Not Just Kony” ― a campaign launched around Immaculata-La Salle High School to raise awareness about the use of child soldiers worldwide. Kony isn’t the first, or only, warlord to use children in armed conflicts. Our hope is to not only raise awareness, but also inspire others to take action.

Honestly, I decided not to join this club because of how much of a hoax it turned out to be. I feel bad because I was so supportive for a while but Kony is inactive, there are other things to care about that are relevant. Also ugandans have actually been offended by the Kony 2012 stuff, so personally I will no longer advocate something a country doesn't want.
Have you watched Kony 2012, Part 2? Joly (who is the #1 woman working on the ground) has been apart of Invisible Children since the beginning and is from Uganda. Of course not everyone is going to be a huge fan of the original movie. I completely agree with the criticism that is was oversimplified, but humans make mistakes. Part 2 is a lot more detail heavy and doesn't idolize any "white man". Believe what you will, but I suggest you do more research before you make such bold statements about who is and who is not a threat to the international community.
Also, Invisible Children not only believes in caring about the crisis going on in Central African Republic, D.R. Congo, and Sudan, but they strongly encourage others to discover their passions. If your drive is to help the homeless in your own backyard, to make individual efforts to end modern day slavery, to stop women being oppressed across the globe, then go for it! This movement is bigger than central Africa, but was meant to spark international conversation about atrocities happening all over the Earth.
Please allow me to see who you are so we can continue this conversation in private so that I don't have to post it to the I.C. tumblr page every 2 seconds. Thanks for the comments.

I find it a bit annoying that you covered the tunnels with that garbage. I realize that most people are pretty unskilled with spray paint but geez, that is some ugly lettering. Plus way to spread awareness by covering what, 2 locations that non students never even see?
I appreciate your thoughts. I wish they weren't delivered in such an ugly manner, but whatever. We can chat. Considering the fact that the expression tunnel is the only place in Boone where you are allowed to spray paint without getting into vandalizing trouble, we thought it would be the best location for cover the night. By no means do we claim to be artists, so we did the best we could. Although I am a huge fan of the stencils of Kony that are back to back that was done by a talented member in our club.
I am sorry you find it annoying. I am in no control of that.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I love talking to people about their perspectives/opinions, especially when they are different from my own.
