It's actually not that bad. If you are coming from other languages and environments it may seem strange but at its heart it really isn't as bad as people play it out to be.

Plus, the JVM is an amazing beast of a platform.

... still exist and are prevelant through-out the developing word. That's actually quite nice to think about. It's amazing to see the ways in which technology that we find "outdated" or "obsolete" can play an active role in the betterment of people in disadvantaged situations.

Pure me

Over the last several years I have developed a habit of making up personalities in order to, I suppose, deflect away from my own personal insecurities. In doing so I opened a proverbial rabbit hole and once it was opened it has been a struggle to stop. Day-after-day, week-after-week I would create and flesh out characters within my mind and within the confines of my reality. With these characters there were fun times, I made friends, I made enemies, and I also grew farther away from who I am. This is why I have created a challenge for myself, a challenge of honesty. This year I vow that I am going to combat these false personalities by building myself up so that I don't feel the need to hide behind an elaborate, but fragile, mask. And to those I have abandoned or hurt... I'm sorry.
