The days are chillier and shorter but your apartment grows cozier and warmer. There’s a sweet coffee aroma when you wake up; you've gotten used to the fragrance, sometimes even missing it when you’re not home.

The noises in the kitchen make your eyelids finally open, the sounds are inviting, you leave the comfort under your blankets still a bit reluctantly. It’s cloudy and you miss how bright and warm your room usually is in the morning.

Your hair’s probably sticking everywhere, you didn’t even check yourself when you washed up. It doesn’t matter, not this morning anyway; you’re home, you’re safe.

You really don’t know how such a beautiful person like Jaehee chose you, out of all people it was you. She looks stunning, wearing her oversized sweater and her disheveled hair, probably crazier than yours. Yet, there’s nothing and no one more beautiful than her.

“Good morning.” She says finally noticing you. “I’m making breakfast,”

“I know.” You smile.

“Sorry, did I wake you?” A bit of concern on her question.

“No, no… I actually love waking up to you.” Your face feels warm, you run to stand behind her, pressing your forehead on her back hiding your blush.

She chuckles at how adorable you are. “I love my days off even more now, I get to spend them with you.”

Your girlfriend is probably not doing it on purpose but your face just grows warmer and you sigh. You’ve learned to love and appreciate even the simplest things and gestures. You never thought a simple smile could turn your world upside down, or that being loved could be something as beautiful as it is now. You never dreamed of being in love with such an amazing soul.

“Your nose is cold.” She says and you jump back.

“I’m sorry.” You cover your nose with your hand. “I’m not so great with cold weather.”

Jaehee chuckles. “I know that too well.”

There’s a smile on your lips mirroring hers, her delicate fingers brush some strands from your face. When she moves you’re able to see the breakfast on the counter. She cooked your favorite and there’s a couple of new mugs, tiny strings of steam flying from their content.

Jaehee enjoys the way your eyes light up. “I bought these on the market the other day and was saving them to surprise you on our next breakfast together.”

“They’re adorable and that looks delicious.”

“I hope it is, I hope the hot coffee warms you up a bit.” She carries the tray to the coffee table in front of your huge couch. You sit next to her and she scoots closer, a bit worried about you being cold from just waking up. Too entertained holding the cup of coffee to have a sip, you don’t notice her staring lovingly at you. She’s too grateful to have found someone who loves her just the way she is.

“Your coffee is the best, you know that.” You glance at Jaehee, her smile is too sweet; butterflies attack your tummy.

“I’m glad you think so. Are you feeling warmer?”

“Well…” You put down the cup and without warning wrap your arms around her, she gasps. “Now I am.”

Her arms go around you perfectly and she pulls you closer into a warm embrace. “Your nose isn’t cold anymore.” She brushes her lips on the tip of your nose and the heat from earlier returns to paint your whole face. “Even your face seems warmer.”

“I…” Once more you hide your face on her neck and she laughs hugging you even tighter than before.

It’s okay if the food goes cold and you have to reheat it, nothing can compare to hugging the one you love.

#𝟙𝟠 ℝ𝔸𝕀ℕ𝔹𝕆𝕆𝕋𝕊

The rain hits his umbrella creating a drumming melody filling the empty street; businesses are closed and the few people heading home like him hurry to protect themselves from the storm.

He can see his building across the street, while he waits for the lights to change the corner of his eye tells him there’s something… someone approaching. He’s not known for being a real talkative or loud person but as soon as he recognizes the figure there’s a strange sensation pricking in his chest. He wants to be noticed but at the same time he wishes not to.

“Nanami!” Your voice rings and he can’t help glance your way. He nods and you stand next to him. You’re wearing your normal attire, holding an umbrella way too big for your physique and your feet are protected by a pair of pink rain boots.

You’re like a splash of color against the dark stormy night. There’s nothing dull about you yet he doesn’t feel overwhelmed. You moved to the building a few months ago but he feels as though it’s been longer. Your smile is something he’s gotten used to seeing, your greetings and your voice is something he doesn’t mind finding when he leaves his apartment.

“Sure is pouring tonight.” You smile, looking up. A few droplets land on your cheek. “I went to the bakery around the corner, I’m planning on making some tea to accompany them, would you��” Your voice trails a bit and his heart jumps in his chest, “... like to join me?”

He could say no, go to his apartment, get out of his wet clothes. He could.

He doesn’t.

“If I’m not intruding.” He answers, his tone drier than he’d like but seeing your smile grow he figures it’s just okay.

The light flickers green and the pedestrian sign pops for you to cross the street. The wind picks up and you yelp when the handle of your umbrella slips from your hands. It happens too fast, when you follow its direction your umbrella is flying away faster and further. To your surprise you’re not as cold or wet as you expect after losing your protection. A tall shadow looms over you.

“Are you alright?” He asks, his voice just above your head.

“Yes, you don’t have to… you’ll get wet.” You look up at him.

The shadows the night and city lights create play beautifully with the shape of your face. This is ridiculous, right? Out of everyone, why is he the one feeling like this?

“Please, let’s just go inside.” He looks towards the entrance, concerned you’ll notice the strange heat on the back of his neck.

You don’t think you need an umbrella, he’s tall enough to protect you from the rain or probably the upcoming traffic. He smells nice and you kind of want to giggle at the way he tries not to touch you but still keeps you inside his umbrella.

As you both cross the street he glances at you, somehow you’re too close, when he looks down and sees your pink rain boots a small smile curls his lips. Your tiny feet and small steps trying to catch up to his, he slows his pace.

Thankfully you make it to safety and once inside your apartment he waits by the door while you offer to dry his jacket and give him a towel so he can wipe his face.

“Please come in and find a place to sit, I’ll get the water boiling.”

He sighs; for a man like him, this normality feels abnormal. He takes off his shoes, placing them next to your flashy pink rain boots.
