not to be inclusionist on main but i find it shocking and frankly a little horrifying how easily the online LGBTQ community has turned on itself in the past 2 years. like, i need you all to know: i’m not old. i’m 23. so that leaves about a bit less than a decade of me knowing i’m gay, and a bit less than that of me learning about my new family and friends and lifestyle and such, as well as a bit less for actively campaigning/being deeply involved in civil rights and social justice issues.
like, i don’t know if yall realize this if youre newer here but: this whole “asexuality exclusion” thing and this “queer is a slur” thing? this is new. this is only within the past two or so years that its gained any real momentum, the same with terfs and radfems. it wasn’t a concept. there were massive, massive rallies in support of our asexual community. it’s horrifying to me how simply and neatly we as a group have gone from “The A doesn’t stand for Ally” to “There is no A at all”.
and i need you all to know: this is not a coincidence that TERFS have risen up in roughly the same time period. i need you all to realize that when you talk about your exclusion of asexuals from our community, you are parroting well-known TERF and neo-nazi rhetoric.
“they are invading [LGBT/women’s/white] safe spaces to steal our resources and oppress us.”
“they’re only pretending to be [gay/a woman].”
“[asexual/trans women/POC] aren’t REALLY [LGBT/women/human].”
and it goes deeper, fundamentally flawed: when you try to reason that asexuality isn’t inherently LGBT, but if you are otherwise LGBT but asexual it’s somehow fine and different but otherwise youre cishet…all you’re saying is that “you’re only allowed in this club if you don’t support others who are like you. you’re only allowed in this club because i as an authority say you fit nicely under a label that i agree with.”
it’s terrifying, to me, and i’m not asexual. it’s terrifying that this manufactured divide using literal talking points created by and stolen from TERFs and neo-nazis has such an appeal to so many LGBT people. i’m worried for our future on so many levels; climate change, political upheaval, the list goes on. standing strong together is so important right now, perhaps more than ever, at least in my lifetime. and yet we are so destructively focused on ideas of ‘the model of social justice’ and ‘purity culture’ and ‘respectability politics’ and so on that we would rather turn on our own–not even our allies but our own community–because we don’t think they’re LGBT enough.
we spent so long saying “my sexuality isn’t a choice” and arguing “why would i choose to be oppressed for my sexuality” and yet…here we are.

my nephew, who is like 11 or 12, is playing “5D Chess With Multiverse Time Travel”, which is exactly what it says on the tin, and I have never been more terrified of the youth of today

Hey amigos, the artist I always work with for merch designs wants to do an awareness campaign and donate 20% of the proceeds to a charity that’s related to it - I thought it would be great to come up with a campaign together. Do you have any suggestions?

People have written a lot of touchy-feely pieces on this subject but I thought I’d get right to the heart of the matter

(Translation of the picture: " Davi Oliveira, young black man, is killed by police action in São Félix)
Yesterday in a city next to mine (São Félix-BA- Brazil) a young black man was chased and shot by the police. He woked in barber shop and was taking his friend home from work. The police claimed that the man had a gun and tried to shot the police officers, but he didn't have any criminal record.
Because of that, people from this city and others are protesting. They burned tires around the city and had protest posters in front of the police station.
And you wanna know what's worse about all this?
Only a few people will know about this, because only the local news (the news of this state) will broadcast about it. Since it happened in a small city. That's why i'm posting here, so people will know and talk about it.
Please don't let this go through as just another case.
(If you guys prefer i can keep y'all updated)

If y’all are really about Black Lives Matter, support me. My name is Bella and I am a Black queer activist who has been doing social media protests for two months. They need more attention. These are some resources and information. Next Saturday I am hosting a social media protest to help Black people struggling with money for: HRT, top surgery, medical bills, food, rent, housing, and more.

Jacob Blake is more than just “A Black man shot 7 times” he is more than a statistic, more than a number, more than a victim of police brutality. He is a father of beautiful children and we need to have more empathy while speaking about this, his babies had to WITNESS THIS. Black trauma continues to be brushed under the rug and everybody continues to try to make us try to justify it. While I am grateful to hear he is okay, that doesn’t mean I’m not angry. Don’t stop demanding for justice! BLACK LIVES STILL MATTER! Protests have been happening for THREE MONTHS NOW. But there are plenty of victims of police brutality who don’t get to say they survived. I truly hope the officers involved get charged for attempted murder.

Please reblog this, this is a very important signal boost!

ok im kind of a sm*ll account and itd be a miracle if anyone sees this, but im a black bi woman who ran away from a physically abusive home situation last summer, and ive been living in various temporary accommodations since then. ive been working on and off while studying this year, as the majority of my focus has been on getting good enough grades to transfer to a better school (long story but the abuse is the reason i didn't get into a good school in the first place.) so i havent worked this year as regularly as i did throughout my teenage years, supporting myself constantly because abusive parents don't believe in providing for sixteen year olds lol.
now that i have managed to get into a better school, my focus has shifted to finding permanent housing where i feel safe and i can start to settle and move on with my life. ive found a place with a bw roommate but i don't have the funds for a deposit and first months rent, its £1900 in total. ive been working on it in other ways, like selling things and doing odd jobs, but now i have a week left and i thought it couldnt hurt to also drop my info here.
if anyone could help youd be literally saving my life, even just a reblog would help. and i can provide proof of my situation, if youd like to inbox me. in advance thankyouuu 🖤

Let’s not allow a smaller media coverage on the black lives matter movement and protests feed your mind that this issue has been dealt with and that it’s no longer ongoing.
Don’t listen to claims of being blind to race or that it’s not an impediment in any nation if it’s not something you will ever have to face, instead lets embrace everyone and culture that we’re blessed to have around the world.
Let’s put an end to lives being carelessly slaughtered by police officers thinking and acting with rose colored white biased glasses. We’re not going to change if we continue to allow ourselves to be segregated further.
