one of ariel’s eyebrows quirked at rose’s sudden declaration. “okay...hit me with it, then,” she said, gesturing for her to continue. she was somewhat wary with where this could possibly be going, waiting in silence for rose to deliver her surely grand punchline. because she couldn’t expresso herself, she repeated dumbly in her mind, allowing for a second to process. ariel couldn’t help but to smirk, if only in amusement at how pleased rose seemed to be with delivering that punchline. “y’know, it’s a real good thing you’re pretty,” she informed her, reaching over and squeezing the other girl’s hand. “’cause you certainly don’t have a career in stand-up comedy waiting for you.”

born and raised in sunny california back in the forties, ariel irizarri was raised by her mother who was also a vampire, just the two of them getting through (a very long) life together! her biological father had been dating her mother (was the one who turned her) before he got called to go fight in wwii where he was tragically killed, and her mom never bothered to find anyone else after that; she was content doing life on her own with her daughter, but even all these decades later, ariel can still see how it’s effected her. 

as a kid, she figured out her mom was a vamp and ariel pretty much begged her to turn her as well. she just didn’t want for her mom to go through life alone 

her mother is the most important person in her life tbh, don’t fuck w mama irizarri!! she’s ariel’s hero, is the reason ariel loves and admires and respects women as a whole so much because for all these years, she’s only person ariel’s really, truly, and 100% had. ariel wants to be half the woman she is, which she doubts is possible, but she still gonna want

lesbian as fuck; she knew she wasn’t straight very early on, but didn’t confirm it until she kissed her best friend back in like the seventies. they kissed solely to see what it was like after seeing it in so many movies, and it meant nothing, but it definitely told ariel one thing: it was always going to be girls. there had always been a few boys after her over the years (ariel’s not exactly unattractive) and the little minor relationships/dates she’d had never got to the point of anything past hand-holding, and she knew that it just wouldn’t, she never could picture herself with a man. her mom was pretty accepting of this when she finally came out there wasn’t much room for judgment in a house of vampires to begin with

political science major, she wants to either continue on into a law career or go into politics and fix shit. it’s always fascinated her (probably one of the only people you will ever meet who actually enjoys watching/reading the news) and it certainly helps that she’s very opinionated, outspoken, and a hardcore fucking feminist - arguments with her are often futile, because you won’t get her to budge or to stop until she wins

likes to win, a lot, which is why she thinks her career options are completely fitting to her personality - they require winning!

parties, going out and causing trouble, just doing something that requires her to stay out of her thoughts is her literal escape from her mind; her mind isn’t the most fun place to be even though ariel herself is a fun person to be around, she’s very hard on herself because she wants to be the best but she sucks at balance and prioritization and just kinda caves in on herself so she’s the first person you’ll see volunteering to throw a party or asking if you wanna go out and do something, literally, anything, because she needs it to keep from going out of her mind, as she sees it. does she neglect a lot of shit living and breathing for socializing? yes, but what’s the point of having a problem like this if you don’t just build on it??? that’s ariel logic for you

ariel is not afraid to go after what she wants, and she isn’t afraid to step on people if it calls for it, especially if she sees she can get away with it, and she usually does
