the insane experience of missing a fictional character . like you can always go back and reread the book , replay the game , rewatch the show or movie , you can always go back & see them , but you can never experience them & their story for the first time again . its absurd to miss them because they'll always be there , but you'll miss when there were still new things for them to say .

for a small time they were real & growing and changing and you hung onto every new word, but now all they can do is repeat the same story forever&ever & they're not real anymore because you know everything they're going to do. & you miss them. its fucked man...

I am unsure what I could add. I believe the question was simply asking "why did Stafford choose to install your systems into a Cataphract" and/or "why do you stay in the Cataphract". I believe the question to have asked by someone with a less than positive opinion on the Cataphract as a chassis.

So, was being sexy part of the totems end goal or a side effect?

A bit of both. The scientists that created us definitely wanted to engineer us to be symbols. Included in that was sex appeal.

I know that may sound odd at first, given we are Clanners, but hear me out. Even if, to most Spheroids, Clan warrior caste social norms around sex, gender, and sexuality may seem odd at first, they really are not once you understand it better. For one, sex appeal still holds sway (among the allosexual portions of Clan populations, in any case). If we were to be propaganda pieces for our Clans, then naturally it made sense for the genetic engineers to ensure we possessed sex appeal and beauty.

That said, in terms of the proportions most of us ended up with. I cannot say with confidence whether it was intentional or not. This is leaving out the use of Elemental genes to give many of us significant amounts of muscle, which was obviously deliberate. There are certainly arguments that can be made in favor of a deliberate explanation for our proportions, but with the experimental nature of the genetic engineering that went into our creation, it could also have been an accident, or an unintended alteration due to who knows what genetic interactions.

Cyclops (Rasalhague Dominion)

There are few ‘mechs that love BV more than the Cyclops. This insanely cool looking command machine is kind of an odd sibling of the Banshee - another Assault Mech forced by tech limitations to give something up in exchange for a big enough engine to move 4/6. Where the Banshee gave up firepower, the Cyclops gave up armour. This thing has shockingly thin armor for an Assault or hell, even a heavy in most of its variants (though there are several that drop speed to become generically decent assaults) - in a battle balanced by tonnage I’d take the Banshee every time, but fortunately BV means Cyclopes generally cost about as much as heavies, so that makes them much more viable. The mobile HQ variant is enormously funny.

Alright, so I finally have to actually get a good recipe together for Rasalhague Drakøns blue-grey. The successive washes are a real spirit breaker and man, this thing looked mega ugly until I applied highlights. Just gotta decide on and record a mix of Griffon Blue and Night Lords Blue and stick to it, damn the consequences. Red bits were fun, and I hope to do several more pride flag-toting mechs in future. I would have initially done Lesbian on this one (the MechWarrior I have assigned to it in my head is she/her) but I’m currently away from home and I left my oranges behind - sad! Assigned bisexual by paint availability, and there’s probably a joke about my own sexuality in there somewhere. Anyway, happy pride MechWarriors! I love all my queer siblings (and our allies) - and I’m taking suggestions for a cool Kanji to put on my upcoming Kuritan Jenner’s head!
