In the coming excitement for the hermitcraft charity event, I wanna point out that all day Joe Hills has been updating the title of his most recent hermitcraft episode (uploaded today) all day long. This man has been liveblogging the trip via Youtube titles.

It's currently almost 10 pm for me and hes been doing this all day since he uploaded at about 2. Joe Hills continues to baffle me with how absurd he can get.

And the fact that some of them don't have known accounts they're just lurkers??? HELLO??? What do you mean that there is a small chance that smallishbeans has seen a drawing I made of him and liked it? What do you mean that joehills could have possibly seen my post at some point in time??? It's extremely unlikely but 0.0000001% is still a percentage.

Thank god mumbo doesn't have a tumblr (as far as I know) because then he would know how crazy I am 😔

In-universe, people don't get invited to the Hermitcraft server. They just kinda show up there. They take a wrong turn while going to another server and end up on Hermitcraft. The current Hermits have a system where a week before the new season, they search the world for newcomers to explain to them. Sometimes they stay, sometimes they don't.

A fun thing about publishing on itch.io is that it has a mechanism for constructing opt-in mailing lists of past purchasers, but no mechanism for consolidating those mailing lists, so if you want to send a notification to everyone who's opted in to receive emails from you, people who've purchased multiple titles from you will receive a number of copies of the notification equal to the number of titles purchased.

It's times like this that I'm reminded that Tumblr does not, in fact, have the dumbest possible UI. It can always get worse!

Hermit a Day May: Day 18, Joe Hills, The Puppet, the Puppeteer!

I will be honest guys, the Red portrait of king Charles is gorgeous asdfghjkl

it's a bad portrait. Like. Objectively. It does the opposite of what's intended. It looks like the painter is insulting him. If it was in a contemporary gallery with no context you would see it immediately as the ambivalent criticism of Charles's reign, how he fades into the overwhelming red background as a tiny little figure, small and insignificant, insufficient for the clothes he's wearing. It reminds my of Goya's portraits, how they were so 'realistic' that they ended up making these great figures look pathetic to the viewer. So these are our rulers?

the sheer novelty. the surprise and shock, the kinda cunt it's serving for no reason. I. I love it. It's an incredible portrait by Jonathan Yeo. By the sheer fact that Charles, the man, is impossible to portray as greater than man because he's just such a nothingburger of a dude. So a portrait made to make him look huge and interesting made him be swallowed in red brushstrokes. The butterfly, that reminded me immediately of " we will all laugh at guilded butterflies", draws more attention than him. It looks like an omen. It looks like a warning in all this red. Something is not right here.

This is the best royal portrait ever 10/10
