Report Paper: Environmental Scanning at Crimson Hotel Filinvest City, Manila
People always love to take a break. People love to travel, wander, and have a vacation. And mostly, those people need a place to stay. Therefore, a hotel is one of the good places to stay in. That is the reason why a group of Senior High School students of Muntinlupa Science High School have conducted an environmental scanning at Crimson Hotel located at Filinvest Alabang, Muntninlupa City.
Crimson hotel is a 5-star hotel in the heart of the cosmopolitan city of Alabang, Muntinlupa making it a landmark hotel in Southern Metro Manila. It is a project of FilArchipelago Hospitality, Incorporated, a joint venture between Filinvest Development Corporation and Archipelago International Private Limited. The hotel targeted for savvy business and leisure travellers who are into the “live-work-shop-play” lifestyle. The hotel’s trademark is a combination of fresh, stylish and contemporary – from the look of the lobby, well-appointed guestrooms, innovative meeting rooms and chic restaurants, to the contemporary urban yet heart-felt Filipino hospitality. The hotel is just minutes away from key economic zones and information technology parks. Its hub location at Entrata Urban Complex makes it an ideal venue for momentous social and business events complemented by diverse dining options, upscale shopping and entertainment within the city. It also has 345 guestrooms and suites ranging from 28 to 152 square meters (including rooms for specially-abled guests), executive floors, a 564-square meter Crimson Grand Ballroom that can be divided into three smaller ballrooms, six meeting rooms with state-of-the-art facilities and named after modern visual artists; Claude Monet, Alexander Calder, Jose Joya, Joan Miró, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol and Piet Mondrian. The hotel is operating from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, five food and beverage outlets serving various cuisines, swimming pools, a medical clinic, ample parking spaces and a hotel shop. Services of the hotel include but are not limited to laundry and dry cleaning, concierge and valet services, integrated security system, in-room dining and Wi-Fi Internet access. All 345 guestrooms, 20 of which are suites, are equipped with LCD cable television sets and modern day amenities adhering to international standards. Additional facilities are the living and dining areas, foyer, kitchen and wash & dry areas.
Aside from the description of the said hotel, the group still have discovered something more, for they have been asked to do the SWOT Analysis. They were asked to identify the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats of the said hotel. SWOT Analysis was originated by Albert Humphrey in the 1960s. It is used to get together a strategic formulation or a serious strategy tool in order to acquire a good business performance. Strengths are the characteristics of the business or project that give it an advantage over others. Weaknesses are the characteristics that place the business or project at a disadvantage relative to others. Opportunities are elements in the environment that the business or project could exploit to its advantage. And lastly, threats are the elements that could cause trouble for the business or project.
The strength of the hotel that has been observed by the students was the location itself, since the hotel is located in a corporate city together with key economic zones and information technology parks. Another is the state of the art and facilities, because it is really very relaxing starting from the entrance up to the lobby, and surely, until the rooms. Another would be the staff and employee management as stated in the description together with the high-quality equipment including their security system like CCTVs and others. Putting everything together gives a good reputation for the hotel and makes it more attractive to clients and investors.
All those strengths always come with opportunities, like prominent guests for their trust in the hotel. One more is their proximity to shopping centres like Festival mall, Alabang Town Center (ATC), and other restaurants and fast food chains around which helps in attracting clients to check in, for they will not be worried on where to buy their needs. And since those shopping centres, especially the Festival mall, has a lot of customers and shoppers, Crimson hotel has its advantage when it comes to promotion. It is also along with the highway so it can easily be seen and the place is actually public.
Apart from it comes the weakness that should be addressed if possible or rather turn into an opportunity otherwise. As observed, the hotel actually lack of security personnel. As a big establishment that accommodates clients from different places with different purpose comes a big danger. The establishment itself covers a big area in that location and it is quite wide inside. At the entrance, the students just saw two security guards, and as they go inside, there is only one security personnel assigned to check bags. At the lobby, there is also only one security personnel observed roaming around the area. As a 5-star hotel with a very good reputation, safety should always be and expectedly be observed.
As soon as the weaknesses have been observed, it is expected to have its threats. Since the area is very accessible and public, also due to the mall near it, even though it is a very good think as we think, there could still be an uncomfortable atmosphere for some the clients of the said hotel. There are also several people standing by around the building that will make the clients doubt on their safety and security. On the other hand, considering its location as strength, it could also be a threat for the hotel. Since it is to be found in a corporate city, together with different businesses and companies competing with each other, there are also nearby competitors for the hotel specifically the Vivere, Accacia, Bellevue and other hotels that are not yet so well-known. But by having those competitors makes the Crimson hotel be motivated enough to do more and be the best among all.
In choosing a hotel, we can blame no one for being meticulous when it comes to details. With the help of those people, it benefits the business in order to adjust, fit, and improve services, and be more people friendly. SWOT Analysis is a way of identifying the things that needs improvement and the things that should be maintained and develop for them to enhance their products or services. It is a very big help to every businesses in order for them to focus on the right things that mostly affects the company’s status.

Concept Paper: Fusion vs. Fission
Excerpt from
Tomorrow’s Energy
Isaac Asimov
(pp. 117-119)
Fusion and fission are two dissimilar things that are being misinterpreted by many. Fusion is a combination of mixture or things, while fission is something that is being divided into two or more portions. Confusion has been clarified through the examples given in the text. The said text also made a differentiation about the concept and the real meaning of the two misinterpreted words and stated some solutions that might help the earth.
The text presented different examples like one in paragraph four, “In nuclear fission, large atoms are broken into very dangerous radioactive atoms. In nuclear fusion, small atoms are combined into helium, the safest substance.” Another is in paragraph six, “In nuclear fission, there is considerable energy produced per pound of fuel. In nuclear fusion, there is four times as much energy produced per pound of fuel.” The writer did present those examples maybe for the readers to understand the difference and importance of the two.
The writer did not just actually differentiate the two, fusion and fission. The writer did also mention about electricity, natural gas, air pollution, and nuclear power stations along the coastlines. He thinks that fusion could help produce electricity more or less directly, and to combine water and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen, as well as the carbon-hydrogen compound, and methane, which is a chief constituent of natural gas. From methane, it is stated that there can be a possible build-up of more complicate carbon-hydrogen molecules like those in gasoline. One more thing that can be solved will be the air pollution, wherein it will be just gas and oil without the impurities that produce the pollution. Moreover, the nuclear power stations where the prime source of energy-yielding atoms will be the world’s oceans. Therefore, the stations can be located anywhere along the continental coastlines to give access to all regions and nations.
The writer therefore concludes that there will no longer be a division into “haves” and “have-nots”. There will be no fission and anymore and the world could use the power of fusion to solve different huge problems that the world is facing.

Position Paper
Death penalty is a very big issue and has a very wide range of affection to every Filipino people. I, myself cannot just give it a definition based on what I think about it. We are talking about life and death here. Human rights and justice are inclusive in the issue. There are two contradicting things in one abiding law. This is very hard, confusing, confidential, sensitive and also an important issue of our country today. Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo already abolished death penalty in year 2006, but now, Duterte administration wants to bring it back.
The Filipino people are willing to cooperate with the government about this death penalty that they want to reinforce, but the problem is that they are not in favour of eliminating some crimes that are previously indicated on the reading. The reason of bringing back this death penalty is because of the rising criminality and use of illicit drugs in the country, but what would be its essence if we will be limiting the crimes that will only be reprimanded by this penalty? It will just have no significance at all because death penalty will not seem to be alarming to criminals. They will just continue to do things against the law for they will not be killed. I am quite sure that we all believe in the power of this penalty we are talking about. I personally do believe that even if this death penalty will be implemented, humanity will raise its power. Conscience and kindness of every heart of the Filipino people will be on top. Criminals will now think twice, it will be now or never for them when they will be planning to go against the law. It will be between their desire and love of oneself. Are they willing to sacrifice their life for one thing that they really wanted to try? Mind and heart will now work on those who are confused of committing crimes. On the other hand, as individuals, who are thirsty or let’s say, as individuals who demand justice and fairness for ourselves, are we really willing to let someone die, just because we need to have justice on our hands? On the first reading, if I am not mistaken, carnapping is included on the list. What if your car has been brought back to you, neat and fine, without any damage? Will you choose to let this carnapper be killed, or will you just let him stay in jail for the rest of his life? If I would be in that situation, I will just let him die in prison rather than to see him be killed, having my car with me, because my conscience will just kill me as well. Weak people might suffer depression, anxiety, and other disorders that will just kill them slowly.
For me, murder, plunder, rape, homicide and just the sale of illegal drugs must be on the list. Let me tell you why. Murder and homicide is very brutal for me and that might lead to death. Therefore, the suspect for this hilarious crime must be killed without the victim knowing, because I believe that even if a person is wrathful to the extent of cursing strongly, the victim will suffer a bit of uneasiness at the back of his heart and mind for someone has been killed because of him/her. I personally can’t take that. Plunder must also be on the list. Why? It’s because of the absence of integrity, honesty, and the real essence of public service. Morality will be dirty. When you run as a public official, you should be ready to offer your whole self for your country and for your fellow countrymen, because being a public official is not a job, it is a responsibility, obligation and sacrifice. Being a public official is not just simply having the power and authority; it does not just end on serving other people. You will sacrifice everything you are and everything you have. Your time, yourself. Being a public official also gives you the power of influence and be a role model to the next potential leaders of the country. Being a plunderer is not on the list! Imagine a child, watching television, hearing and seeing different political crimes happening inside the palace as he/she grows. What do you think of this child will be on the future? Do we want those children to be future plunderers? Of course, not! Now, if you are a plunderer, and you have been caught, you must be killed. Remember that being a public official is a sacrifice? Now go, and sacrifice your life. For you are a CRIMINAL and you are not a good example for everyone. By that, children would now be aware that the kind of leader they must be has to have an honest and good heart, for they shall be killed if they won’t be. Rape must and should be on the list without any further explanations. We all know why. I don’t need to speak on this; I believe you can speak for yourself. Sale of illegal drugs must be on the list as well, because users won’t have something to use if there are no selling happening. No one would own or use if there are no available drugs in front of them. Some might say that this point of mine must be unfair, but of course, if there is death penalty and drug dealers will be killed, they will stop selling it. Now, there won’t be any supply for the users, therefore, the use of drugs will be eliminated. And I believe on this very much. Individuals who have an influence of drugs will be criminals, and if there is no influence of drugs, there will be no criminals because they will just simply be a rational thinker Filipino citizen.
The Duterte administration really believes that the main cause of crime in this country is drugs. So let’s be a part of the change we want to see. Let us do our part as a member of the community and as Filipino citizen. Let us help to promote the advocacy of drug awareness and education. Let us be volunteers of our own calamities. Let us be the change. Let us be the hope. Let us create a better world in a very peaceful manner with respect to moral and divine laws.

Critique Paper: Group 2; Art (pp. 45-47)
Art
(1) The French artist Georges Braque (1882-1963) once said. “In art there can be no effect without twisting the truth.” While not all artists would agree with him, Braque, who with Pablo Picasso originated the cubist style, “saw” things from a different perspective than the rest of us, and he expressed his vision in his paintings. All art is an interpretation of what the artist sees. It is filtered through the eyes of the artist and influenced by his or her own perceptions.
(2) Throughout history, artists have applied their craft to advance religious, social, and political visual arguments. Portraits of kings and queens present how the monarchs wanted their people to see them, with symbolic tools of power such as scepters, crowns and rich vestments. Art in Churches and cathedrals was used as a means of visual instruction for people who could not read. Much modern art reveals impressions feelings and emotions without remaining faithful to the actual thing depicted. While entire books are written about the meaning and function of art, let’s examine how one particular artist, Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), created a visual argument.
Pablo Picasso’s Guernica
(3) Pablo Picasso, with fellow artist Georges Braque, invented a style of painting known as cubism. Cubism is based on the idea that the eye observes things from continually change viewpoints, as fragments of a whole. Cubism aims to represent the essential reality of forms from multiple perspective angles. Thus, cubist paintings don’t show reality as we see it. Rather, they depict pieces of people, places, and things in an unstable field of vision.
(4) Picasso’s painting Guernica represents the essence of cubism. During the Spanish Civil war, the German air force bombed the town of Guernica, the cultural center of the Basque region in northern Spain and a Loyalist stronghold. In only a few minutes on April 26, 1937, hundreds of men, women and children were massacred in the deadly air strike. Two months later, Picasso expressed his outrage at the attack in a mural he titled simply, Guernica.
Who is Picasso’s Target Audience?
(5) Knowing the history of the painting can help us understand whom Picasso was trying to reach. In January 1937, Picasso was commissioned to paint a mural for the for the 1937 Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne, an art exhibition to open in France in May of the same year. Although he had never been a political person, the atrocity of Guernica in April compelled him to express his anger and appeal to the world.
(6) Before the mural went to display, some politicians tried to replace it with less “offensive” piece of art. When the picture was unveiled at the opening of the expo, it was received poorly. One Critic described it as “the work of madman.” Picasso had hoped that his work would shock people. He wanted the outside world to care about what happened at Guernica. However, Picasso may have misjudged his first audience, In 1937, Europe was in the brick of world war. Many people were in denial that the war could touch them and preferred to ignore the possibility that it was imminent. It was this audience who first viewed Guernica--- an audience that didn’t want to see a mural about warm an audience that was trying to avoid the inevitable. Years later the mural would become one of the most critically acclaimed works of art of the twentieth century.
What Claims Is Picasso Making in the Image?
(7) Picasso’s painting comprises many images that make up an entire scene. It depicts simultaneously events that happened over a period of time. The overall claim is that war itself is horrible. The smaller claims address the injustice of Guernica more directly. A mother wails in grief over her dead infant a reminder that the bombing of Guernica was a massacre of innocent. Picasso also chose to paint his mural in black and white, giving it the aura of a newspaper, especially in the body of the horse. He could be saying, “This is news” or “This is a current event that you should think about.”
(8) It should be mentioned that Picasso created many version of the images in the mural, carefully considering their position, placement, and expression, sometimes drawing eight or nine versions of a single subject. He thoughtfully considered how the images would convey his message before he painted them in the mural.
What Shared History or Cultural Assumptions Does Picasso Make?
(9) The assumptions in any argument are the principles or beliefs that the audience takes for granted. These assumptions implicitly connect the claim to the evidence. By naming his mural Guernica, Picasso knew that people would make an immediate connection between the chaos on the wall and the events of April 26, 1937. He also assumed that the people viewing the painting would be upset by it, In addition, there are symbols in the painting that would have been recognized by the people at the time such as the figure of the bull in the upper-left-hand corner of the mural, a long-time symbol for the Spain.
What is Picasso’s Supporting Evidence?
(10) Although Picasso was illustrating a real event, cubism allowed him to paint “truth” rather than “reality.” If Picasso was trying to depict the horror of Guernica and by extension, the terror and chaos of the war, all the components of his mural serve as supporting evidence. The wailing figures panicked faces, the darkness contrasted by jumbled images of light all project the horror of war. Even the horse looks terrified. Overall, Guernica captures the emotional cacophony of war. Picasso wasn’t just trying to say, “War is hell.” He was also trying to impress upon his audience that such atrocities should never happen again. In essence, Picasso was making an appeal for peace by showing its opposite the carnage of war.

Critique
The text was about how art has been created and how does it look like in the eyes of artists. The text specified Picasso and Braque’s style of painting known as cubism. Cubism is based on the idea that the eye observes things from continually change viewpoints, as fragments of a whole. It aims to represent the essential reality of forms from multiple perspective angles. One example stated was Picasso’s Guernica, which he painted in behalf of the people in the town of Guernica, wherein hundreds of people, including men, women and children, were massacred. It is not directly stated but as what has been said in the given text, some of Picasso’s audience didn’t quite understand the essence of his work. But later on, the mural became one of the most critically acclaimed works of art in the 20th century. The mural, which has been critically thought about, considering the position, placement and expression, was trying to say something in behalf of Picasso. Every detail was clearly an evidence that what happened in Spain is not just simply a thing. It’s something. Picasso illustrated the truth, rather than the reality. And as he made an appeal to promote peace, the mural shows that war should not happen again.
As what it is in the text, the writer is on the positive tone because of just telling the story very clearly and complimenting Picasso for a job well done. The writer specified the type or form of art, and then he later on mentioned the mural itself and the story behind it. After that, he said the message of the mural and how it turned to be seen the way it is being looked at right now. The text has been clearly sent through the divisions of topics and the flow has been clearly specified through the questions that were being asked every division of the topic. In another viewpoint, the text are just trying to let the readers appreciate all kinds of art in the world, and also to point out the talent or skill of Picasso. The writer just wanted to share the story behind the Guernica, because maybe the mural really strokes his heart and he wanted to let his readers experience the same thing.
The bases of the observations are also based on how the writer told the story. The writer’s effort to set apart different topics while keeping the whole text connected is highly appreciated. In a passage that features something or someone, it is very important to trace back the story and give at least some complimenting facts about the subject. Moreover, the writer did tell more of facts and just a minimal opinion, for the text is really about a real person and a real event.
The point of the text was obviously to feature Braque and Picasso, and also to share the information about the story behind the said mural. The text only shows an example on how every art has been made and where those things do came from. It shows how inspiration helps not only artists, but also every individual to create something beautiful. The writer also might not just want to tell a story, but also to promote peace and to spread the view that war should really not be in a vocabulary of the society.

Abstract: Porphyria Blank Murder Case
The murder was in result of the unrequited love of John Doe to Porphyria Blank. It is identified through the classification of the three different passages that was given. In identifying the motive and way of killing, the setting, the perspective of the narration, the way information are presented, and the stated relationship of the persons involved, each passage came up with almost similar results. The motive of killing was quite different in three passages (rejected love, possessiveness, and fear), but it can all be a result of too much love. On the other hand, the way of presenting information was also different, but it doesn’t matter a lot since the content was quite similar as well. Therefore, the observations are all connected with each other and by that, it can be concluded that the general idea of the observations was the death of Porphyria Blank because of the love that was felt by John Doe.

Problem-Solution

a. Ideas about Korea’s and US’ government issues
b. Gather all information possible to have an initial conclusion or suggestion
II. Body
a. Site my own opinion considering the stated issues
b. Analyze and conclude possible outcomes and such
c. Decide rationally and carefully
III. Conclusion
a. Contemplate about the concern
b. Give suggestions or possible solutions to the problem
c. Suggestions must come from the knowledge I have gathered
---
Problem: A recently, South Korea Parliament Votes to impeach their President and it succeeded. Also rumors about impeachment of President Duterte and US President Donald Trump arises. What can you say about these issues? And how does it concern the world? What do you think is the root of this that concerns the politicians or leaders of the country that are “naghihilahan pababa” rather than helping one another to reach the top?
(Power and greed are one of the answers but basically why is it important to have power when you are contradicting all the rules of bioethics, human rights, etc. It doesn’t make sense of us ordinary people but help me answer all of these curiosities)
(Possible) Solution: Well, your curiosities are a bit hard for me to answer since I still have to consider three different government situations but based on what I just know, I will try to answer your every question to the best that I can.
In order to impeach a leader or politician, especially the ones in a high position, it could possibly have, take or need a lot of issues, investigations, facts, supporting information, evidence, liable sources, existing proofs and witnesses, and a lot more complicated things. It causes more branches of problems that may occur. Some concern citizens and organizations may conduct a rally, opinions and stands won’t be able to state their reasons behind and many things might get misinterpreted. People could get wild not just in rallies, but also in their own different ways like spreading rumors, using social media and many more, and with that, people’s opinions might get biased, influenced and blinded. As an individual who is experiencing an intense feeling of wanting to fight for something that he or she thinks was right, words that could be used might be too much for the situation and it is no more accurate and another issue of misinterpretation would occur. This will lead into fights of different institutions with different stands and it could cause a lot of harm, not just physically between people, but also in the image and integrity of the country itself.
Impeachment is a very big thing to talk about. We both know that it is very rare to happen. It shows that people had a wrong choice and that official is not really trustworthy. It somehow connects with the wrong influence of the stated official, and that the citizens of the said country are easily be fooled.
It concerns a lot of things in the whole world. The image and integrity of the country will just be ruined in just a short period of time. Future investors might change their minds for the country has a lot of issues wherein people also won’t trust not just the country, but the citizens as well. As an official, who has all the power, authority and influence, you are the representative of the whole country and you represent your fellow countrymen. One wrong move and everyone will be affected like a domino. With this, our economy might decline, and not just the economy but also the tourism. Who would want to go in a country wherein there are a lot of issues? People will quickly think that it would not be safe for them to go there. Why would people go in a country wherein anytime, there could be war?
One example would be just here, in the Philippines. Once an individual was framed up or suspected that he or she is a drug dealer or user or whatever that concerns drugs, he or she gets killed. Who would like to be in this place wherein they can just die in one click? It would be really hard to change the ruined image of a country. We were once destroyed.
Pulling others down doesn’t just happen in politics. It happens every day. It happens to you and me. It happens to everyone. As what you have said, it is power and greed. I won’t explain this much because I bet you already have an idea about this. Greed summarizes all. People pull others down because they are selfish. They want to be on the top with themselves, and they thought that they have satisfied themselves with all the power and authority. To them, maybe it feels like they have everything, money, fame, influence, power, authority, and all. Maybe they feel satisfied, not by seeing others falling, but instead, because they are on the top. They feel satisfied because they think that they are superior to the others and they think that they are all better than the others.
Being on the top might be one of the best feelings in this world, but it would be better if we do it with integrity and fairness.
It is important to have power when you are contradicting all the rules of bioethics, human rights, and etc., because when you have the power, you are influential and you can just make people believe in you and you can persuade them, or fool them in the easiest way you can. If you are powerful, then you are influential, and if you were influential, you can just easily persuade people. And with that, they will think that you are already a reliable and credible source of everything. People could just disagree on someone who doesn’t have the power and they could just not listen. When you have the power, influence, authority, and fame, you are known, you are popular and you are an eye-catcher. People will listen, obey and believe on the things that you also believe. It affects every individual, community, city and the state. Therefore, it affects every citizen and it affects the whole image of the country because of its people, but no one maybe noticed that it was because of the influence of just one person on the whole environment.
I hope that I contributed something in answering your curiosities, but I still do believe that you will just be the one who can give justice on your own curiosities.
Impeachment is very long process that needs a lot of evidences and powerful discussions. It happens when a lot of people agreed that the leader doesn’t deserve the position. But when we think of it, we also let that leader won. Let us not waste time on this. Why not just chose the right ones in the first place?

Argumentative Article: A Change in Education System
The Philippines educational system is undergoing a big change which follows the international educational system. The K-12 system is the system used by the United States and other countries. The K-12 system is started by the Aquino Administration. The government will add two year plus Kindergarten. Many people think that implementing the program in the Philippines will be insignificant and unnecessary but others think that it would improve the country’s educational system and the country as a whole. I agree with the K-12 system that will help students embrace a better quality education and will give them more job opportunities, especially abroad.
There are many arguments regarding the K-12 implementation. I have chosen 3 arguments to talk about. First, parents are not financially stabled. Money would hinder the implementation of the system. The parents would pay two more years for the education of their children. Their children would learn more and gain more knowledge for those additional two year of education. The money that the parents pay will be put into good use for their children’s future. But the parents would be spending a lot more than they expected for good quality education. The parents are not prepared to pay for two more years of education. The plan of the administration was earlier than expected. And some parents are not happy with this plan because of financial problems.
Second, improve the quality education we have in our country. The Philippines need good quality education because we have a poor education system. The K-12 system will help the country to have a higher standard of education the government can add more to the curriculum. The advancement of having an improved quality education would lead to an earlier success in a student’s life. It may take him/ her long to finish high school but he/ she gained more knowledge than the students who prepared in 10 years. The student would take longer to finish his/ her basic education but will be more prepared. It is enough that the student is prepared when reaching the age of 18 after finishing the K-12. Their minds will be mature enough to think better than what is expected of them if graduated at the age of 16.
Lastly, prepare the student for work after graduating. Not all students who graduated will automatically be sent to a university for college. Some students prepare themselves to look for a job for the sake of having money to study in college while some are forced to work for the sake of helping the family. The students who have accomplished the 12 year system will automatically be recognized professionals because we are following the international education standard. This will be good for our country. But, the student has not accomplished his/ her schooling. He/ she needs to be sent off to college because completing all levels of education would mean a better job in or out of the country. A student can earn more if he/ she finish college and find a good job.
Based on the arguments stated, either good or bad, the K-12 system has a good point. I agree that the parents will spend more money for good education but their money won’t be put into waste. Their children will experience good quality education that will be good for their future. Of course parents want what’s best for their children in the quality of education because one day, their children will be the ones assisting them when they grow old. The old education system is done for 10 years and it can stress a student’s life if the system should have been 12 years. We all know that some people have financial problems that they go to work after high school. 12 years is longer than the 10 year system but the graduate students of the K-12 will automatically be recognized professionals because we are following the international education standard. The K-12 system will help students get a better job abroad because of the quality education that follows the international education standard.
Main issue
The main issue of the article was the implemented K-12 system, which has been implemented earlier than expected. Whether this system would be necessary for the improvement of the quality of education, or it is not necessary for it will be another stress for the parents and the students itself.
Argument
The article tackled about three arguments:
Affirmative
o This program will help students to embrace a better quality education and will give them more job opportunities, especially abroad.
o This program will improve the quality education we have in our country. It will help the country to have a higher standard of education that would lead to an early success in a student’s life. It would take long, but they will be more prepared and would gain more knowledge.
o The program will prepare students for work after graduate. The students who have accomplished the 12 year system will automatically be recognized professionals because we are following the international education standard, which will be good for the country.
Negative
o Parents are not financially stabled, and they will pay a lot more than what they expected for good quality education. In short, they are not prepared.
o The students would take longer to finish the basic education in order to acquire quality education, and the effectiveness of this program is not yet guaranteed to the public, since this would be the first time that the program will be implemented in the Philippines.
o If the student just finished this program, he/she doesn’t finish his schooling. He still needs to go to college to complete all levels of education for a better job in or out of the country.

Text Features of Hamlet
Playwright: William Shakespeare
Genre: Tragedy
Text Feature
Title – the title of the book was written at the cover page and the second page of the book. At the back of it were the credits, copyrights and publishing incorporation and others.
Graphic aids – so graphic aids are shown of course at the cover page and the first pages or seventh page to be exact. Some books could have the graphic aids in the first page or only on the cover page, but this book has it on the 7th page because there are some contents that has been put first that is why. So this graphic aid gives us an idea of what will happen in the story, just like what we can see in this abstract wherein we can see a knife or a sword. So this could be an indicator that there some characters that will be killed, their adventure might be dangerous, and as what the genre is, it is a tragedy.
Timeline – so instead of timelines or other representation, the page before the graphic aid inside the book was shown was the list of characters and their description, roles and their relationship with each other. The description gives a hint about the possible flow of the story. As we tend to know what the roles of the characters are, we will have a better understanding of the story as we read. Knowing their characteristics and roles also gives us an interest about the story.
Bullet or numbered list – is not observed in this book. This only has the list of other books written by the same writer like what other books has as well.
· Questions – can be found at the 3rd page of the book. Questions here are in paragraph style and these questions somewhat promotes the book. This has nothing to do with the story but instead, the book itself. This book has the original text written by Shakespeare on the left side, and there is also a modern text or the translation that puts it into everyday language on the right side. The question asks the reader something about the strength of the book. In this book, Hamlet, the question was, “Have you ever found yourself looking at a Shakespeare play, then down at the footnotes, then back at the play, and still not understanding? You know what the individual words mean, but they don’t add up…” So this question shows the strength of the book. Wherein we can see the original text but can understand it properly with the whole translation on the other side.
Captions – so in this book, the caption is found on where the question was. This caption somewhat gives the whole story or the moral of the story in a sentence or a line from the book or the line of the character. In this book I have, the caption is, “There’s matter in this sighs, these profound heaves. You must translate: ‘tis fit we understand them.” (Hamlet, 4.1.1-2) This means that the line was found in Act 4, scene 1, and line 1 to 2. In the modern text, it is written this way, “These deep, heaving sighs of yours mean something. You have to tell me what. I need to know.”
Table of Contents – in this book, the table of contents is consists of acts, scenes and pages instead of chapter and titles. So as we can see, the acts are written bigger than the scenes and pages. The act was written in all capital letters, while scenes are written in a natural way in which the first letter is the only one written in capital. This shows the importance or let’s say it emphasizes that these acts are consists of scenes.

Movie Review: Heneral Luna
Source: http://www.filmpolicereviews.com/revews/heneral-luna
Carrying the weight of the story is the above stellar performance of John Arcilla in the title role of Heneral Antonio Luna. Arcilla plays with the whole spectrum of emotions in his portrayal of the larger-than-life general. He is able to showcase the fierce, boisterous, and volatile man the general has been historically known to be, yet he is also able to flip the coin and show the passionate, sympathetic, and battle weary softer side of the character. Here’s the man who rides the head first screaming into battle just or rile up his troops’ morale, but at the same time he is one who can share warm moments and some banter with his mother. He is an antihero – the Wolverine of the Filipino insurrection.
Paraphrase

Problem/ Solution
Scenario: A friend of yours has a lot of dreams, but she always feel down about herself. She is a discreet person that someone will have a hard time in knowing her well at a short period of time. Since then, she doesn’t have a father to guide her, and as the eldest, all the responsibilities are passed on to her. She is not that good academically. She doesn’t have enough confidence about anything in her and she thinks of herself as a failure. She thought that there’s none of her attributes or characteristics are to be proud of, even though she has a lot of talents and skills that are very rare to be found in an individual all at once. She knows how to braid a hair, draw, dance, and cook, play some stringed instruments, wash clothes and dishes, and clean the house. She is a very industrious and lovable person and her mom, grandmother and sister can always depend on her as well as her friends and cousins. She has a lot of patience like it never goes out of stock, she is always on the go, could always make you smile, and she is the most considerate and selfless person you’ll ever meet. She also appreciates simple and small things around. She has a very precious and genuine smile with sparkling eyes every time she’s glad about something, but it is very rare to be seen.
Solution: There are lots of things to be proud of in every individual in the truest sense. People just have to look on the positive side and positive trait or attitude of someone. As individuals, everything we do, whoever we are, is based on a certain reason or event that made us change. Who we are is the result of the things around us and as a friend; I will let myself understand what she feels.
First, I have to avoid negativity, for it will just bring her down. I have to bring her encouragement and show her support to make her strong and boost her self-esteem. I have to show her that I believe in her and I really trust her for she can obviously do a lot of things that I can’t. I also need to appreciate every single thing in her, help her to do more and have faith in her capabilities as well. With all the encouragement and support, she will surely reach her the top of dreams. As a friend, my only goal is to make her believe in herself, for when she already boost her self-esteem, everything will just follow.
