my exchange semester has been really fun! i've met so many new people and travelled to so many new places, and it has taught me so much about myself too! i'm really loving the independence that comes with living alone in a new country, especially one that is so different from the ones i grew up in, and i love how i'm able to push myself out of my comfort zone to experience so many new things! i'm always happy to ramble on and on about my experiences, so feel free to drop me a message or another ask if you're curious about anything!!

(also, i learned that i lose all inspiration to write when i fall in love... i may or may not be on the way to the airport to catch a flight with someone i met during one of my travels right now 👀)

the world glows gold as the sun dips into slumber. meguru sits across you, on the floor of his room, face illuminated by his smile and the sun's final warmth. his gilded silhouette remains soft and extraordinarily quiet.

when the sun rises again, meguru will be off to blue lock. no one knows when you'll get to see him next.

which is why you're here, his collection of trinkets and knick-knacks from over the years sprawled across the floor of his bedroom. you glance down at the little bits of meguru's memories—the acorn from when he fell off the huge tree in your school's courtyard, the pull tab of the soda can you got him after his first game, the bb pellet he swiped from the time he brought you to the festival—and your hand twitches.

why would you settle for taking just a fragment of him, when he could be right here in front of you? why do you not want to let him go, when blue lock is where he's meant to go?

so you pick up a clear glass marble with a yellow streak flowing through its core, glowing amber in the sunlight, because it reminds you of his eyes. the marble is cool on your palm, sucking up the warmth of your skin and somehow, turning a deeper gold. perhaps if you look deep into it enough after he's gone, you'll catch just a glimpse of the spark unique to meguru.

the only sound that fills the room is the footsteps of meguru's neighbour across the street, coming home from a long day of work. then, meguru lets out a sigh, strangely relieved, and he smiles before holding up a bead in the colour of your eyes, thanking you for not taking his favourite one so he can bring it to blue lock with him.

there isn't a dull day with shidou around. there's never a plan or a fixed destination when he whisks you out of your house; all that's ever on the agenda is to have fun.

today is no different, and you find yourself in the passenger seat of shidou's car, music blasting in your ears and the setting sun bleaching his hair even lighter. the two of you sing offkey, blurting nonsense lyrics and laughing at everything and nothing in particular. the roof of his convertible is rolled back, allowing the warm summer air to sweep past your lifted cheekbones and leave a trail of your laughter behind.

with a hand on the wheel and another on your thigh, shidou speeds down the suburban roads towards a mystery location so secretive even he doesn't know where it is yet. the only thing you two know is that this will end in a messy night in a motel, somewhere in a distant province or in the mountains, if even in a motel at all.

shidou gives your inner thigh a grateful squeeze when you feed him a sour gummy and licks the sugar off your fingers, and you laugh even harder when he releases your thumb from his lips with a wet pop.

"you're suspiciously good at that," you tease, dropping a gummy into your mouth and feeling the acidity spread across your tongue.

"but you're even better," shidou replies without missing a beat. it only makes you burst out laughing, your cheeks burning up.

shidou swells with pride, knowing he can get any sound out of you as he pleases, and lets his fingertips slip past the hem of your shorts. you lightheartedly warn him to focus on the road, but he doesn't miss the way you spread your legs ever so slightly.

he only smirks devilishly at you, telling you to be patient and not get ahead of yourself. after all, shidou is a firm believer that good things are well worth the wait and effort he puts into them.

blue lock as a premise is kinda crazy bc wdym you kidnapped 300 high schoolers, treat them like shit, break down their aspirations and give them lifelong trauma only to then set them free and let them cause havoc in the real world, all to create one singular striker …evil work

when reo asked you to prom, he wasn't expecting this.

everyone is dressed to the nines — the boys are in suits and the girls are in gowns, sequins and cufflinks glittering under the golden chandelier. reo barely recognises his classmates, with the hair gel and makeup and almost choking scent of perfume and cologne mixed. clusters of newly graduated students gather, flutes of sparkling juice in their hands, chattering and laughing away. it's all too fancy for a bunch of high school kids, almost pretentiously so, but who is reo to judge when he spends his weekends entertaining important businessmen at gala dinners?

in a small clearing of the crowd, reo spots you; a breath of fresh air in the stifling banquet hall, a sacred spotlight leading the way to the haven he could escape to.

you're in the outfit he picked, because you couldn't decide what to wear, in the shoes he said would look best on you while keeping you comfortable through the night, and with the glimmering pendant he had draped on you earlier in the evening. reo takes in the sight of you, awed as if he doesn't already know every detail of the fabric on your sleeve, and starts to weave his way through classmates and strangers.

but reo, the jewel of the cohort, isn't only your prom date, so he gets stopped every few steps by people hoping to get a final word in with him before they part ways. they're all reminiscing trivial memories, making plans to meet up in the future, wishing him well for his upcoming foray into juggling both soccer and the mikage corporation.

he doesn't count how many empty promises he's made to see his ex classmates again in the following year, but when reo finally comes up to you, he smiles genuinely for the first time that night. warmly, gently. the giggling of a particularly noisy group of girls melts away, and the chandelier only illuminates the two of you.

reo wonders if there actually was some alcohol in the sparkling juice, because his heart is beating erratically, and he's suddenly feeling a little too warm. you jokingly ask reo if it's the last time you'll see him, because you know best how busy he'll be, and how easily he slips out of people's grasps.

yet, he only vows to always be the one who dresses you up for every event he'll bring you to as his plus one. because for reo, there's only you.

when did this begin? the cold wars, the silent tears, the accusing glares. you used to understand rin like the back of your hand — his dreams, his habits, his triggers. when did the joy in your chest when he comes home turn into a dreadful "here we go again"? when did rin, rough around the edges but gentle on you, start treating you like he did the rest, although you had convinced yourself he'll never shut you out? when did his thanks for your support turn into backhanded comments to stay out of his business?

what use is it, to wonder about these questions whose answers do not matter?

it wouldn't change the fact that you're pushing all of rin's buttons to make him feel just a portion of the hurt you feel, nor would it change the fact that rin thinks you're holding him back. it wouldn't mean anything now that the home you built upon dreams has come crashing down.

despite your efforts to mend the tears in the delicate bond you once shared with rin, to remind him of the future you once dreamed with him, rin just seems to stray further and further away. he turns down video calls while he's overseas and stares into space on date nights, and no matter how much you try to pull him back into your orbit, he already seems far gone.

it takes a final shouting match and cracked picture frame for your resolve to finally break. you watch rin stare at your splintered smile on the floor, his eyes wide with shock and regret, his ears ringing with the whispers of his past. his apology chases after you as you leave the once warm home, but he knows it's too late.

you've overstayed your welcome. your love can only run on the remnants of naive dreams for so long, and while you were once safe in the eye of the storm, it has now moved on.

he watches as you brush your teeth at his bathroom sink, your skincare products neatly on a shelf in a corner of the counter. ever since the two of you started this little arrangement, born out of sae's need for a non-soccer-related outlet for his stress and your want for some company at night, he realises that you've burrowed your way into his life, making space in his heart just like how your clothes have made room in one of his drawers. you've been staying later into the mornings to make his bed or prepare breakfast, and he's been inviting you over to his place earlier in the evenings with the excuse of finding a movie he knew you'd like.

he watches the way you glow under his harsh bathroom light, every line and every contour soft despite the bright cool light that you promised to change soon. the tune you're humming is garbled around the toothbrush sae got for you the first night you stayed over, but he thinks he's never heard a melody better than it. his eyes dance over the slope of your neck as you spit into the sink and sae runs through the list of cheesy pick up lines he overheard aiku and sendou discuss earlier that week in their locker room, wondering if you'd laugh or blush at each one, wondering if you've already got him so foolish to try one of them on you.

you step out of his bathroom with a smile, your voice still as gentle as the first night when you say, "alright, you ready?" and although sae walks over to kiss you with all the poise and confidence he's learnt to project, the playful curve of your lips makes him think you've long known every thought running through his head.
