"Seeking Support and Acceptance as a Transgender
9 posts
As a transgender refugee from Uganda, I find myself navigating life in South Sudan, far from home and seeking a place where I can feel safe, loved, and understood. My journey has been filled with challenges, from escaping violence and discrimination to trying to find a community where I can be accepted for who I am. I am reaching out in the hopes of finding support, love, and a new family—people who understand the struggles of being a transgender person in a foreign land. I long for the opportunity to build a new life, to heal, and to connect with others who can offer the kindness and solidarity I need to move forward.

A Journey of Relentless Love: My Story as a Transgender Person
My story is one of survival, strength, and the unwavering belief that I deserve to live as my true self. Being transgender in a place where safety is uncertain is not just about identity—it’s about fighting every day to exist, to be seen, and to be free.
The Struggles
I have faced hunger, discrimination, and violence simply for being who I am. The place I live is not kind to LGBTQ people, and every day comes with new risks—whether it’s finding food, staying safe from attacks, or protecting my younger brother, Louis. But I refuse to let fear define me.
The Fight for Freedom
I have fought tirelessly for my rights. I filed a case with UNHCR and CRA, and I have been selected by Rainbow Railroad for resettlement. The journey is slow, uncertain, and frustrating, but I hold on. Because I know that one day, I will be in a place where I can thrive—not just survive.
The Love That Keeps Me Going
Despite the hardships, I hold love close to my heart. Love for myself, for my community, and for the future I dream of. I believe that kindness and courage can coexist, that even in the darkest times, we can find hope.
To anyone out there struggling: you are not alone. You are worthy of love, safety, and happiness. No matter where you are, your existence is a victory. And I will keep fighting—not just for myself, but for all of us.

Rise, Defend, and Love
No matter the struggles we face, let us stand together, protect one another, and build a future where love and unity overpower fear and hardship. We are stronger when we lift each other up.
Let’s rise and love eachother.

I'm really struggling right now. I'm suffering and could really use some help. I’m in need of a sleeping tent to get some rest and something to eat. If anyone can offer support, it would mean the world to me. Thank you for any assistance.

Hi everyone, I’m reaching out because I am in urgent need of assistance. As a transgender individual, I am currently experiencing severe pain due to a medical condition, and I need a hemorrhoidectomy. The pain is unbearable, and I don’t have the funds to cover the surgery at this time. Any financial assistance or support you can offer would be deeply appreciated. Every little bit helps, and I am truly grateful for your kindness and generosity. Thank you for taking the time to read my message.

As a transgender refugee, I’ve been silenced in exile for six years—first in Kakuma, and now in Gorom, South Sudan. I’m here to break the silence on the daily struggles faced by LGBTIQ+ refugees in East Africa. We endure violence, hunger, and neglect, but our voices deserve to be heard. Join me in raising awareness and fighting for our survival. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Being transgender comes with its struggles, but I am strong enough to face them all. No matter how tough things get, I know that one day, I will be just fine. The journey is hard, but I am harder.

The entire LGBTQ family remember this: your worth is not defined by others. Stay true to who you are your strength, resilience, and courage are unmatched. No matter what the world says, we deserve love, respect, and equality. Let us keep moving forward; our journey is powerful and meaningful.
