"I fail to even see the importance of homework. We've been stuck in classes for seven hours a day, isn't that torture enough? Then they have to waste even more of our time."
"So challenging. Yeah but I get to be a ball of stress during exams. You’ve seen me the past years. If I could get away with no doing homework I would."

Isabella slouched on her seat again, her thumb in between her lips as she chewed on the skin around the nail. It was a bad habit, but it was hard to get over. As she listened to the professor speak, she wrote down what was on the board and made a list of things she needed to do once classes were over. Definitely! I want to start enchanting my quill to take notes while I'm reading too so I could kill some time.
Mary looked back at their teacher. He was now reading from the textbook as writing appeared on the board. It was something about the economic effects of 17th century vs. 18th goblin/ wizard relations. She vaguely remembered it from her reading and made a mental note to go over it again later. We should, after all, the professors really do have to want us to be interested right? I might start doing that, enchanting my book to read to me like that, when studying with other people and things. It would be great with fiction books too.

"Definitely. Then when you realise, it's already too late. Ah, I see. At least you get your work done. Others don't even bother."
"I think timing is difficult for any situation. Damn, wish I could do that. I try not to procrastinate because then I get anxiety over it. Ugh."

Isabella glanced up from the book, having chosen to read than study for her test. "An increase in vocabulary and an escape from reality."
“What do you even plan on accomplishing by doing that?”

Isabella glanced at the boy in the back corner, shaking her head lightly as she let out a soft chuckle. He would definitely get detention if he were caught, but their professor was too oblivious and too into story time to notice the look on his students' faces. That would be amazing, I'd actually enjoy class. What if all of our professors started doing that? They'd magically shift their voices when telling their personal stories or reading from a textbook. It would be the best. We need to petition this idea.
Mary let out a small laugh at the note. She glanced at the corner and sure enough the kid was leaning against the back wall, dead out. The person next to him kept glancing over and trying to discreetly wake him. The poor bloke looked like he was dreaming, turning his head and tapping his leg, his friend kept glancing at the teacher. That he is! God, can you imagine? Doing different voices for people. It’s actually kind of nice that he’s telling us the story, but it does sound more like facts being recited then anything else…

"Timing is difficult to figure out. Hmm, I don't think so. All I can really do is procrastinate a bit but get everything done accurately."
"Quite. Always easy to tell if someone is keeping something for you. The thing though is knowing when to make them tell you. That is the confusing part. Do you have any special gifts?"

Isabella probably would've preferred a day of working on their textbooks over their current situation. But it wasn't like she could tell the professor how to teach what and the perfect way to do it. Noticing the note landing in front of her, Isabella read it as she leaned back on her chair, her arm covering the parchment. Yes, definitely. His tone is so humdrum that I'm pretty sure the kid in the back corner is asleep. Maybe he could make sound effects when he's describing something so it would be funny, Isabella wrote back, careful in her method of sending it over.
Mary glanced at Isabella, having similar thoughts about being caught, and noticed the girls tapping foot, something mirrored in several other classmates. She looked away, not wanting to draw attention to the note as is landed before her. Yeah, he should probably. Or change his tone from time to time, it might make the story a bit interesting. I feel the same way, though. She sent the note over, now honestly feeling a bit bad for the professor.

Isabella had gotten quite good at it, lying. With her training over the years, it would be a surprise if she wasn't able to convince even McGonagall. Thankfully, her abilities came handy and she nodded kindly at the professor. Receiving the note Marlene sent, Isabella scribbled down, Don't worry about it, though I have to say I do like treats, before tapping the note with her wand gently to send it to the blonde.
Marlene chewed on her bottom lip as she studied the older woman’s expression. McGonagall didn’t look angry, so she took that as a good sign. “Hm. In the future, let’s try to keep the disruptions of class to a minimum. I’m sure whatever it is you have to tell Miss McKinnon can wait til after class,” the professor spoke, giving both girls a stern look before turning back to the board. Marlene sighed and quickly wrote a response before carefully sending the note back, That was close. Thanks. I guess I owe you one.

Slytherins have always been portrayed as bad when the traits they value are not necessarily bad traits.
Traits such as determination, resourcefulness, and ambition are good things for a person to have, yet there is a stigma against Slytherins because JK Rowling never gave fans an inherently good character in Slytherin house. All of the “good” characters were in Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.
The “nicest” Slytherins were Snape and Slughorn, yet Snape was a cruel bully who terrorised characters like Neville and Harry, and Slughorn used people and formed relationships based on what people could give him.
There should have been more examples of Slytherins who were kind and good hearted people, because it is possible to be determined, resourceful and ambitious without being a bad person!
