if we're talking about rolly polies then yes! they are the most popular isopod species that rolls up into a ball, there's also Cylisticus convexus and armadilidium nasatum which are also fairly common, but are more rare than the armadillidium vulgare and roll up with their antennae and head peeking out very cutely, recommend looking up pictures! they are awesome :)
also to add - Cylisticus convexus are one of my favourites because they are in the state where at first glance you'd call them a sowbug, but can still roll up, putting them into both of those categories!

only if it was because of the iridovirus. all other pathways to becoming purple are invalid. look up iridovirus I swear it's worth it. here's a bug I found that was infected by it!

in the middle you can see trichoniscus pusillus (common pygmy isopod) which is usually red-brown colour, but it is purple!
would you still follow me if I was purple

lol the lines on this little fella made me even consider a pill millipede, but no, armadilidium vulgare!

^ small addition but I am purely guessing because I think it's fun, the top picture looks like it has three end flagellum segments (better visible on the left antenna and visible if you back search the picture). also has a lack of pleopodal lungs, with Porcellionides (I think?) having two pleopodal lungs and two flagella segments, the wideness and whatever visible edge colour tells me it's an oniscus asellus -- common shiny woodlouse!!!!
Some isopod studies from reference. I wanted to get some practice in before attempting to make some isopod pins. Fun fact: Terrestrial isopods have 7 main scutes (plates) before their little butt plates start.
Col erase pencil and marker.

I am blowing up from excitement I reacted like that image of the chef in ratatouille when I saw this. eyes wide open mouth agape looking at the sketches this is infinitely awesome. I. am. so. excited. additional fun fact and my favourite one about them - as babies they have 6 pairs of legs and grow the 7th pair throughout their molting which I find very weird and cool.
also if you want to go into more woodlouse-y isopods I recommend Cylisticus convexus Ukraine pied, I am not at all biased by their original genuinely they are awesome!!!
adding onto this because I can't stop thinking about this. you draw them so smoothly and softly as they deserve!!! thank you for drawing them as the gentle beings they are.

a semi-common visitor and connoisseur of local rocks, Porcellionides cingendus is a slender little isopod with very pretty markings that i like to compare to fancy kitchen countertops. as a bonus, the species epithet is one of those that's easy to corrupt into another word, which often leads to me compulsively telling people i "found another cisgender one"

little dude took a tumble. ate absolute shit. was trying to impress me, fumbled COMPLETELY. many such cases.

We aren’t usually quiet about politics- but I can’t even find the words to formulate a post regarding what is currently happening in Iran. Make time for yourself, check on your friends, and if you have any energy left do something for your community. I wish I had some more energy to do something for the community but I’m just going to be writing and playing music for a bit.
Stay safe y’all.

might be a little more complicated than I thought, people are suggesting iridovirus, beautiful, tagged one of more experiences people with it on my inat identification for this! @identifying-isopods-in-posts nyehehehe

my first time attempting to photograph such small isopods, @identifying-isopods-in-posts perhaps you could aid me? I will try to identify them using the BMIG website when I'm home, but i just thought that you'd definitely have a better chance identifying them
