what people don't tell you about coming to college outside home is how quickly everything changes. one day, you're crying in the bedroom you grew up in in front of a big green bag with all your clothes, worried if you can do this, and three years later you're crying in your tiny room you shared with a stranger who has now become your biggest support in front of a big green bag with all your clothes because you're finally done. one day you're hugging your mom goodbye after you've just put the sheets on your rickety bed, and three years later you’re hugging your friends goodbye as you fly back home (for good?)
one day, you receive a very awkward “hi” at a random big bazaar, two years later you're hanging out so much that your thoughts sync up at random times, and three years later you realise the only evidence you'll have of them being in your life is a stuffed animal and in the way they've altered your speech patterns.
what people don't tell you about coming to college outside home is that it's so fucking difficult, but the only thing harder is realising that you can never easily see the people who became your absolute life ever again.

i love the sheer liminal energy of airports so damn much actually. seeing new airports is usually my favourite part of any trip.
the airport is such a weird place in that time just Doesn’t Exist. It can be three in the goddamn morning and there will still be people queuing for Starbucks. You can wear a suit jacket over flannel pyjamas and no-one cares. People willingly pay £15 for a sandwich. There’s always someone in front of you who doesn’t know how airports work. You start to think that chocolate and chewing gum is a perfectly acceptable breakfast.
