It is Oliver Hardy’s birthday and I am keeping with my tradition of making some sort of Laurel and Hardy art today. Today he gets his own spotlight in this redraw of a unique piece of merchandise I recently bought.
On Etsy I found this inch-tall ceramic figurine labeled “Hardy Artiste.” I had no idea what it was but I needed it! Turns out it is called a fève (French for “bean”). These are meant to be baked in a king cake to celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, but many people just collect and display them. Almost any character you can think of exists as a fève!
…Which is why I rendered Herb as one (yes, the third image is NOT REAL, I just drew over a photo)

This was his last movie appearance without Stan Laurel until 1939′s Zenobia.
