ALTHOUGH, If tumblr pulls something like this again, I will leave. For good. It was already pretty scummy that Tumblr opened the floodgates to AI scraping anyhow, let alone pretending to be nice about it by making you AGREE TO THE SCRAPING BY DEFAULT. Simply said, I’m disappointed.

As for Itemized, I have nothing worth sharing this month. Everything is still in the early stages, so comic pages are still being planned out! I already have a good outline for chapters and storylines I wanna write, though!

Also, unrelated question. Do y’all like algebraliens?

MINI PROGRESS UPDATE

Hey everyone! I have made the (admittedly, quite difficult) decision to revert my choice of making Itemized a webshow. Going back on going back on my promise, I guess? Turns out learning make a show is EVEN HARDER than learning to make a comic. So I’m doing just that — staying true to my word and making it a comic.

Hoo boy, I have a lot of explaining to do. Hope you don’t mind a bit of a ramble.

Development has slowed completely to a crawl and at the rate I’m going, I won’t be able to get anything out by even January. All the stress of managing a team all by myself, and inexperience I had, made me procrastinate on doing anything with it, and that really annoyed me considering this is a passion project; it should be fun to make!

I already finished the script, though! All I need is to adapt it into comic form. It’ll take work to learn how this stuff ticks, but I’m hoping for the first page to be released before Christmas! And to all who’s been excited for a video release — worry not! I’ll make a comic dub of the first few pages to (hopefully) retain any goodwill I had before this announcement. Truly sorry to all who this disappointed! I promise I’ll do better 🥲

When I feel comfortable with uploading them, I’ll make a batch drop of the first 5 pages right here on tumblr! Then after the first comic dub is made, I’ll start cross posting! Think of it as a little “thank you” gift for sticking around so long! I PROMISE you, this will be the final last-minute-change I make. I aim for consistency for here on out!

Progress Update 2: New Cast!

Wow, it’s been a long time… Making an object show is harder than it looks. Anyway… NEW CHARACTERS! (and, unfortunately, some characters got axed.)

As for the reasoning for their removal… some characters were just kinda boring. For example, my poker chip character from the first post. I hadn’t even given him a name, let alone a personality. I was just creating characters out of objects i thought would look cool, which was never the way to go. However, by focusing on character personalities, i ended up with even more characters than i started with — 16 to 22 — which is a huge increase! But I think i speak for everyone when I say that these guys are infinitely more interesting!

There was also a really huge art style shift! I really like warm, earthy colors, and not that the colors I chose originally were bad, but I felt a bit bored by them. Every time I saw someone reblog it, I thought, I could do better! in my head every time. So I did! Hope you guys are as happy with the result as I am.

As for writing! The script for episode 1 is almost-nearly-practically done. Just working out a few kinks and it’ll be shipped off to my beta reader! That is all.

Now, to the main course of this news drop! You guys decided on Itemized being a comic, so I… did not do that. Why go back on my promise? It’s easy — I know nothing about comic creation! I really had no idea what I was doing. I was stumbling about, working myself even harder learning about panel layout, establishing shots and dynamic posing than if I had started animating it from the beginning, thus the radio silence. I could’ve just delivered a slightly-more-mediocre-version-of-Itemized, but my momma didn’t raise a quitter! Itemized will be a webshow.

The characters’ info and names will all be revealed later in the next Progress Update/News Drop! Stay tuned, folks; it’s gonna be a long ride… Buh-bye for now!

in other news! progress on the script is going swell!! but there is one tiny problem. should i make itemized a comic or a webshow? with a comic, i feel a little less stressed about making it, as it requires less effort than reigning in a whole team, but webshows, and videos in general, tend to get more reach. i’m gonna let you guys be the deciding factor here!!

as a palate cleanser. Here’s a bunch of doodles i made in whiteboard fox! (unfortunately some of them are a tad bit spoilery so i can’t show them. but if you know me on discord you already know what they are!!)

As you can see, some of the characters are a tad bit redesigned (mostly sunny though, biggest glowup out of the original 16)
