Doctor Who both sidesing a genocide where kids are dying in the most recent episode is the single most tone deaf thing this show has ever done. And it brings up a question - what the hell are we even still doing here anymore? Why bother, if all you're going to do is abandon morals in favour of never taking a stance?

What good is it now? A show that was once on the cutting edge of political commentary, that stood up for the marginalised and downtrodden, allowing the main character to torture a survivor of a genocide (from a planet basically named Hell who has LITERAL HORNS, because they don't want you to feel bad for him) without facing any consequences, without even really bringing up the fact that there's one side (the corporation) that need to face justice.

But don't worry about all that, we've got hype moments and aura! Don't need substance when you have characters that Russell T Davies half remembers from forty years ago! And it'll work! Fans will ignore everything that stinks about this so they can point and clap like seals.

So - I lied. Chapter Six of The Perfect Drug wasn't the third last chapter- it was the last one. There's a couple of reasons for this:

1. I didn't want the story to outstay its welcome. As it stands, I think it has a coherent arc, a good one, and I think I want to leave it there. I love these characters, I've loved writing them, even as canon threw wrenches in my plans (Melissa, I'm so sorry for the way I wrote you)

2. Every plan past Chapter Six was always hopeful at best. A lot of the stuff I thought about would work better in a one shot, so I'm not saying I WON'T do it. I'm saying if I do, it'll be a little bit.

In the meantime, I have in fact started on the next thing. It's an AU set in the universe of one of my favourite TV shows. Yellowjackets X Doctor Who, anybody?

Losing Van felt like losing a limb but with the Plane dream I'm more convinced that ever we're heading towards a supernatural afterlife in the final season. Makes too much sense, and lines up with how much the writers love Twin Peaks.

I think the final episodes will have the ENTIRE cast together again - Shauna, Jackie, Van, Tai, even Melissa and we'll get an inkling of what this is but they'll never overtly state it

Life's a rollercoaster, Shauna knows that. But she wasn’t quite expecting it to have this many ups and downs so early in her life. Between parties, between school and between being woken up by her roommates constantly having sex, she’s close to having a mental breakdown. Then her brain bursts.

Now, everything has changed. She doesn’t know who she is anymore. She doesn’t know what she wants anymore. And above all else, she doesn’t know how to stop destroying everything that she holds dear. All she knows is the downward spiral, and all she can do is fall deeper and deeper, hoping somebody will pull her out.
