It is a dirty word

A word for creatures

For worms

For whatever crawls beneath thy feet

And fears thy steps.

It is demeaning.

Lesser than a human.

Barely an animal

For they are sometimes called something other than that dirty word.

It is gross.

A slut, desperate to be put down

To take pleasure from pain

To savor every bitterness of this world.

It is unclean.

It is not normal.

The thoughts, the beliefs poisoned my mind.

Knowing discomfort, but not having any options.

It wasn’t an option.

It was horrible.

It can be more though.

It can be a beloved item, creature, person.

It can be an unknowable, referred only with apprehension.

It can be a phrase, a concept hard to explain or too long to repeat.

It can be human.

It can be loved.

It can be pure.
