Biased too cause LOTBS was the first kdrama I ever watched but i also think its park jieun’s best drama.
Like I never felt this annoyed with the writing choices in LOTBS like it flowed pretty well. But QOT gets lost in so many things it forgets its main premise which was baekhong’s broken marriage that was meant to get explored and fixed and for some reason it feels like the show has decided to focus on anything but that. I miss the momentum the show had in the beginning and like the pay off of when Hyunwoo finally got tf up and followed haein to Germany for the first time. Where did that drama go cause it certainly got lost in the sauce😭
And CLOY was plagiarized so :/
Omg anon, LOTBS as a first kdrama must have been such an experience! An intense one at that! And yes, the story went along pretty well, actually. and the way the past and present storylines collided made sense, and I haven't seen any other drama with the same premise do it as good.
Honestly I'm one of the few people who had irreconcilable feelings about the CLOY drama as whole (not to mention my actual favorite character was the male second lead and he was killed off soo) and QOT wouldn't be the hit it is without KSH and KJW and if you take them out of the equation, you have a pretty meh drama 🤷🏻‍♀️
And I can forgive a bunch of things in this, if they did the romance part right, but after so much push and pull what do you mean a kidnapping AND male lead being run over?! Pick one or the other, because wtf? Not to mention the resolution for HaeIn's illness was way too easy imo
Let's see what's in store for us in the finale ep.

I see a lot of people disappointed by ep 15 of QoT/saying it's gone downhill but I got to say for me, it's actually incredibly consistent throughout from ep 1 to ep 15 - a fun, brain-dead, elevated by great acting makjang.
If you want a character examination of a relationship or even a solid, plotholeless piece of nuanced writing, QoT is not that and to me it never was.
I mean, yeah the amount of nonsense in ep 15 is huge - from how bad dude gets custody of her or that apparently it's set in 1824 instead of 2024 since internet and its eternal memory does not exist, but how is it different from the fact that the takeover was able to be accomplished the way it did or the magic illness and magic surgery or that not realistic in any way family or really anything else?
The acting ranges from solid to amazing, the chemistry is great, the budget is sizeable but it never really was anything but an upmarket version of Escape of the Seven or Perfect Marriage Revenge or Temptation of an Angel or other makjangs. Perhaps Secret is a better comparison in some ways - A list actors, big hit, makjang as hell plot. Realism and reality and not a thing in that genre though so I am never phased by all the insanity (but never too invested either.)

Disappointed but not surprised at the makjang twist of events in QOT and hey i love me some good makjang. For me the best part in the drama was when the Hong family moved to the countryside and the two families started actually getting to know each other, while HaeIn and Hyunwoo slowly began rebuilding their marriage. The thing with the villain (and so many other subplots) was unnecessary dragged and I can't believe we're heading into the finale with him very much still alive and still scheming.
*sigh* The thing is that this always happens with this writer, right around the finish line, she throws something in there to keep it "exciting" when it doesn't need to. This is why many of her dramas end on a bittersweet note, and not exactly a happy ending.
Of course I will tune in for the ending, but dear drama lords, if only she hadn't done the last four or five plot twists, this would have been a good and enjoyable drama for me.

Can't wait to see modern day Sun Jae, K-pop idol at the peak of his popularity and the world at his feet, revert back to his hot mess loser self once Sol comes back into his life, like some sort of insane comet of longing and awkwardness.

After a glut of kdrama heroes who are all just too good to be true, it's refreshing to find out that teen Sun Jae is a legit dumbass. His grades are so low that even his superfan was like 'holy shit he's stupid'. All this boy knows is swimming, music, being a good son, and staying infatuated with the same girl for over a decade.

I like this guy because he's fun to watch and he isn't the typical annoying second lead. Fingers crossed that he remains that way till the end!

awww and I think it was so nice that she even had a bit of a nurturing tone in her. She knows her teenage self adored this boy and wanted the best for him, so her words do come from a place of love.

Also, one thing I loved from all of this is that in present time, this guy is barely a memory. Sol had forgotten about him and it looks like his fate in the OG timeline was a bad one. He dropped out of school and probably did become a real criminal. But NOW Sol has changed his fate as well and gave him the noona talk. The conversation he needed from a real adult to get his shit together. He's probably gonna finish high school and my guess is that he'll debut with Sunjae and Inhyuk. I love that! I would love it even more if he and Sunjae ended up being reluctant besties!

They love each other and I’m sure that there’s more to their past self that we haven’t found out yet and she can’t remember because she lost a chunk of her memories with the accident. I’m sure they loved each other in the past

my sweet, sweet Sunjae. The only reason he confessed is because he believed he was gonna be reciprocated and I mean, he had every reason to believe it! aaaaaah poor boy.

I can't be mad at her because he already was crushing on her before she went back to the past. She was just passionate about saving his life and changing his destiny, wanting to do for him what he did for her.
But she definitely didn't have a strategy and I mean, it's not like anyone has a plan of what to do to change fate correctly in the event of time travel lol However, as an adult, which she is, she should've been a bit more thoughtful in this situation. SunJae had already gotten hurt when she went back to the present and teenage Sol forgot and ignored him. So I do put a bit of blame on her part, mainly because she's supossed to be a grown-up. And she should've known better.
Sol is so mature and always acts her age when she is with TaeSung and is very considerate of her mother, because she is no longer a real teenager. But with SunJae all is different and I guess is because her fangirl mode was always on around him and then, gradually, real feelings appeared because she got to know him for who he is.
There's also the fact that part that she is quite naive in the romance department, due to inexperience in her adult years.

There's the kidnapping at the end of the ep (because of course there is! ughdfghj) but if she goes back to the present aftwerwards, I hope she finally admits her feelings to herself. That she fell for Sunjae the person and is no longer just trying to save her idol, but also, the person she fell for.
Lots of theories are flowing around on the internet, but I prefer to ignore the preview. I don't think he'll forget her, but I do think present time Sunjae is a bit resentful of her. And he has every right to be. This time, is not gonna be a bittersweet memory about a crush, but rather the memory of a girl who broke his heart and then ignored and forgot him. Yikes.

what's actually insane about all of this is that, before Sol went back to the past, the story of SunJae's first love was bittersweet simply because there was no real interaction between them. She had no idea who he was before he was an idol, had no idea he even existed, he just stared at her from afar, walked everyday behind her to the bus station to go to school without talking to her.
A childish crush, in a way, like many have had in their teenage years, but it turned super sad and tragic, when he saved her and she still forgot all about him and yelled at him on the hospital and later on a phone call that hundreds got to listen to.

*crying*
And what breaks my heart is that he still smiles about it. He still remembers fondly that day, he re-lives it when he tells the story, describing what he felt in that moment. Despite everything, he holds that memory close to his heart. He never let it become a sour one.

Hahaha, a classic line from idols lmao
