[after an hour of reading a gaylor thread] it’s crazy how there’s been this huge shift towards conspiracy thinking in general and how lots and lots of people are so pattern pre disposed that they’re making them out of just Events That Happen In Life. It’s crazy how badly people want someone’s life to be following a Planned Out Narrative. I feel like critical thinking and fandomification and let people enjoy things and the bleed of queerbaiting into a term to describe irl people. And real life conspiracies across the spectrum are all part of the same cultural shift just expressed differently. And I think celebrities are often the focal point of these conspiracies because of the falsity of a job that requires you to be popular. The statements are prepared by someone else. They have people to manage to their image who purposefully call paps to create a story. This is in conjunction to reality tv where people go back and forth about scripted v unscripted. The line between reality and fiction is purposefully blurred for these people. They PAY people to blur the line. Sorry. I got bogged down in how fucked celebrity is. My point is that in general we’re experiencing a shift with critical thinking/analysis and I think you could make passable argument about how the kind of over analyzing we see is just as illiterate as under analyzing. the cosmic horror implications of timeloops are fascinating if you actually stop to think about it. because in order to trap someone in a situation like that you'd either have to reset all of time with each loop, which suggests a staggeringly horrifying scale of power and personal pettiness, or you'd have to isolate an area of effect to keep replaying like a broken record while the rest of time continues around it, posing potentially destructive consequences for the integrity of reality itself if people and things caught in the timeloop fail to show up in the present and effect change outside of it.

like on paper the magicians is unbeatable. magic grad school w a bisexual protagonist and a gang of mentally ill faggots who all run off to discount narnia (btw narnia does exist in this universe and they just land in the Shit One). he has a toxic relationship w a powerful witch who turns into magical creature after she casts a spell So Powerful it eats her alive and she is textually the hero of the story. his best friend turns into a goddess. he falls in love with the guy assigned to give him the magic grad school tour who is a self-destructive gay man from indiana who accidentally killed a kid w telekinesis and who is ALSO the new high king of discount narnia. they have a kid together. all of the female characters are extremely complex characters who are allowed to be selfish and angry and volatile and all the male characters cry and get to be soft and motivated by their relationships and emotions.

the show is also the worst thing to ever happen to television and committed several hatecrimes against me and despite all this the last season wound up being one of the most misogynyistic and homophobic things I had the displeasure of watching
