Watching the Still Ugly podcast on YT and they’re talking about 1x05 Fey’s Sleigh Ride and how the original Mode shoot was 1985, and I realized that means it was the year after Claire gave Tyler up. So this woman finds out she’s pregnant, her lover demands she get an abortion, she’s away from her family for a year while she’s pregnant, gives up her son, then comes back, and finds out about Bradford and Fey the next Christmas when Fey flaunts the music box. Woof!
[Elaine Stritch vocie] And you wonder why I drank!
ETA: they said the wrong year, the Sleigh Ride cover was 1986 but still
#claire meade#ugly betty#i also found out that apparently fey was killed on daniel’s 32nd bday#aug 28 2006

My friend sometimes brings her six-year-old to our DnD sessions and my husband (the DM) lets her roll for all enemy attacks and sometimes he will show her a few figures and let her secretly pick what creature we meet next. Who needs encounter tables when you have a first-grader around

Heterosexual relationship culture is so alien to me and I don’t know if it’s the fact I’m not cishet or the fact I’m autistic but I hear so many things that make me go “Am I insane or are they?”
There’s a lot of hate on widowers and I saw a woman say “You cannot compete with a dead woman.” which is perhaps a reasonable statement to say if he’s constantly comparing you to his dead partner but that wasn’t what the post was about. And I realized “Oh my God, these people genuinely feel like they’re constantly in competition with their spouse’s exes and the ex being dead makes them feel insecure that they cannot best her.”
There’s also been an uptick in the ‘men and women cannot be ‘just’ friends’ rhetoric which I feel like is extremely dangerous and reflects the rise of fascism and sexism. Some of these stories of women feeling threatened by their husband’s female best friend have some merit and others are like “I feel angry that my husband still talks to the girl he grew up next door to and she and her wife are invited to family gatherings and included in family photos sometimes. Am I right to be suspicious?” No. No you’re not. I cannot imagine being you and living with that high level of stress and paranoia and constant torment and jealousy about your husband having a positive relationship with anyone who isn’t you.

Garashir soulmate fic in which Julian has the words "It's Doctor Bashir, isn't it?" on his wrist, but during the events of The Wire he finds out Garak has "Don't move, I've got you." In Kardasi script down his chest and is quietly a little bit devastated.
Then it all goes to shit years later when the Orb of Time goes haywire on the station and throws Julian back 25 years to occupied Bajor. He's obviously appeared in the middle of something, because there are armed Cardassian guards storming a big important-looking building and someone is yelling about the Gul being assassinated, so Julian decides to beat a hasty retreat down a nearby alley and almost steps on an injured Cardassian in servant's clothes curled up on the floor clutching at their face in pain.
Julian should absolutely leave right now - a human on Bajor in this time period will stick out like a sore thumb - but he's a Doctor, he can't leave someone injured when he can help it, so he grabs his Tricorder that is mercifully still attached to his belt and hovers over the man. "Don't move," he says, in hopefully passable Kardasi. "I've got you."
The man freezes immediately.

Soul marks are the first words your soulmate ever says to you, a fact that gets very confusing when time travel is involved.
