To be completely fair, it's still entirely possible Endo's just yanking my chain and plans on sinking my Millock ship just as soon as it's set sail TT///TT Millie doesn't have a good track record with guys, and Matthew's comment that Hemlock may be "a poor fit for the part" does come off as a bit foreboding...

But if Millie can get even one date out of him, I'll be happy!!!

I am hopeful though - Hemlock seems like he'd be putty in her hands if she manages to grab him lol

That said, it's also possible this might actually effect Hemlock's job performance... what if he spends all his time thinking about Millie and loses his edge?? That too would be an interesting avenue to go down.

All in all, I am pretty happy my random idea for a pairing turned out to hold so much merit lol here's hoping it goes well!!

They definitely visited Kafka in the hospital together a bunch… then they started making plans around the visits, like “let’s get lunch after” and “there’s a movie we could go see” and “want to swing by the music store?”

They’re practically dating now actually, Kafka just didn’t mention it in his summary cuz he hasn’t noticed yet 😭😭😭

This is so hilarious to me because I’ve been tinkering with the idea of a love interest for Sayaka (the future fic I’ll never write is very expansive!!!!) and my rough visual idea was

“Big guy like Kafka but with slightly longer hair that’s kinda messy and parted in front”

So minus the stubble this is basically him lolllll though I think my guy would have a sharper look. He can be a bit of a grump.

Now for some serious thoughts on the ending (positive!)

I liked it!!! A little too bookends for my taste in some parts, but it was sweet and fun and very Kafka.

I really liked that they carved out a special place for Kafka to do his Kn8 business till things cool down. The series has always been about finding a place to belong so that was really nice.

Of course everyone’s back together again and that’s sweet, though I’d rather they stuck with their new divisions…? Just feels a bit limiting, but I guess they’ve caught up to the 1st Division so it’s fine for now.

(P.s. No. 10 got his tail back!)

Of course Kikoru gets promoted to VC cuz she’s special. Still bummed Reno is so far behind her, I enjoyed her playing coy with stealing Narumi’s spot one day lol

Of the stored kaiju, I’d REALLY like it if 15 was among them… if they could give her a body one day, THAT would be amazing sequel material.

This echo of Kafka and Mina was really cute - and so the story continues!!

All in all, it was a nice open ending with plenty of room for everyone to imagine the future as they like, which is probably the best thing for a story like this.

Or they can give us more sequels and spinoffs!!! Who knows what the future holds.
