Life happens... but soon you'll get better.

There are many many things I don't understand of life, and maybe it's not meant for me to understand them (at least yet) but why is it that we feel the way we do, why do our emotions get the best of us, do we let them get the best or is that just how it goes regardless? Why can't we put our feelings into words, why do we say we are okay when we are not? That is how I've been feeling lately, and it's the point in which I don't understand that I don't even mind dying. To be quite honest I am extremely happy that Lover by @taylorswift was released at the time it was because ever since it came out, I've been listening to it and it has really helped me contain my negative emotions and bring my emotions to what you can consider the Daylight of my life. I've also been reading the entries from the Deluxe album version #1 and reading Taylor's thoughts have really helped me come to understand that sometimes we are going to get hurt and we will be let down by those who love us (countless times) and even those who don't love us, but we shouldn't let that define who we are or who we will become. I struggle with understanding that, understanding that just because they wrong us doesn't mean we will be wronged by everyone. As I listened to Soon you'll get better and Daylight I couldn't help but tearing up because I noticed that I wasn't the only one going through a tough time and I understood that those "tough times", "situations" and "rough patches" weren'tgoing to last forever and that they were nothing less but a lesson learned to help shape who we are or want to become. Many times I felt as if I might be alone physically, mentally and emotionally but I was definitely not so I thank you greatly and immensely @taylorswift for creating music that not only we as Swifties can relate to but the whole world. I thank you very much for making me think twice on wanting to die because without Lover and without your music who knows what might've happened to me. I am still figuring out if my situation will me better or worse but I am content going through the process but now I know that I am not alone and neither should you be so if you need a friend or someone to hear you out, I am here for you.

Ps. These are songs that have helped me through life, you definitely take a listen.

For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in. I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums. 

Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years. 

Like when Kim Kardashian orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter got his two clients together to bully me online about it. (See photo) Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked. Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.

This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says ‘Music has value’, he means its value is beholden to men who had no part in creating it. 

When I left my masters in Scott’s hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually he would sell them. Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn’t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever. 

Thankfully, I am now signed to a label that believes I should own anything I create. Thankfully, I left my past in Scott’s hands and not my future. And hopefully, young artists or kids with musical dreams will read this and learn about how to better protect themselves in a negotiation. You deserve to own the art you make.

I will always be proud of my past work. But for a healthier option, Lover will be out August 23.
