a gentle reminder to be thankful and grateful for your tiny victories.
sometimes goodness doesn’t come all at once, but in small steps.

positivity isn’t easy, by any means, but it is a choice.
i cannot tell you the amount of times that i have seen self-doubting responses to my posts from people stuck in and grappling with pessimism, and the negative things that they’ve faced. and to be real, until you decide that things will get better, they won’t. your mind will constantly be stuck on the bad things, what you don’t have, what’s not going right for you. if you don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, unfortunately, there won’t be one. and if there is, you may self-sabotage and “ruin” the gifts that have been bestowed onto you (if you’re still stuck in the same pessimistic mindset). once you decide that things will change and get better, that’s when they will — in just little ways, at first, and then in big ways later.
this message isn’t coming from someone who believes that you always have to be happy. no one in this world is happy all the time. i’m not all the time and i hate toxic positivity. but this message is coming from someone who knows that continuing to perpetuate these toxic, maladaptive, and sabotaging feelings, behaviors, and thoughts will do nothing but harm you and keep you running in place — never reaching your full potential as a person. you can see the bad and allow yourself to feel those emotions, and also see the positives too. it doesn’t have to be one or the other.
positivity isn’t easy. but you must help yourself. and rewire your brain to see even the tiniest bits of hope and light. because they’re there.
