GoEco
TAs a college student myself, i am always keeping my eye open for internship and placement opportunities. At Go Eco, they create specialty programs that are designed for people looking to have some fun and get some experience while they get their education. While a lot of the programs are education oriented and categorized, Go Eco also has specialty programs related to family, agricultural, conservation, medical, and wildlife just to name a few. aswell as a great selection of specialty programs, they also have a very broad base of locations to choose from, including some that are more out of the ordinary. Some of these places include Tanzania, Maldives, Seychelles, and Ghana.
“ Volunteering overseas is a great way to travel and contribute to our planet's environment. As a volunteer you will be able to experience first hand indigenous wildlife, work along side local communities and discover fascinating cultures world wide. Based on years of practice and in-depth volunteer reports, GoEco presents you a careful selection of excellent yet affordable wildlife, education and development volunteer opportunities in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America.”

Pod Volunteer Program
Pod volunteer is a program that sends volunteers to sanctuaries in Belize, Peru, Thailand, Madagascar, and Nepal. You can choose your program by animal, location, or conservation. Each experience is different and there is a lot to choose from! some of the exotic animals include bears, cheetahs, elephants, horses, monkeys, and farm animals. There is an application process and fee for accommodation that does not include flight there and back. program lengths range from 1 - 12 weeks, accommodation costs start at $900. all programs are 18+.
Why Should You Consider This Amazing Oppertunity?
“Whilst the centre employs full time local staff they are always in need of assistance with their tasks. Local staff are often over-stretched with daily care tasks and so the extra man-power from volunteers allow them to focus on long term plans and extend their care to more animals.”
“The passion and commitment shown by volunteers allows the centre to run smoothly. Their love for animals allows us to continue to rescue and rehabilitate animals that have been forced into the tourist industry or kept as pets.” Becca, Volunteer Coordinator

PSA: If you live in Houston
I saw that there’s a “no kill” shelter called ‘Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary’ closing PERMANENTLY on July 15th. I’m not sure how many animals they have left or what they are going to do with the animals not yet adopted. But if you are responsible & financially able to, please go adopt one of the animals ASAP!!! 😁

BAD NEWS FOR THE SANCTUARY
Tumblr media
This morning we were very positive because bank staff were coming to the Sanctuary to discuss the possibility of getting a mortgage. We wanted to use this picture to give you the good news about that, but unfortunately everything has gone wrong. The Sanctuary can afford the mortgage installments but the bank cannot grant it because we’ve only been functioning as a charity for a couple of years. Even if had been established for more year, we would have only been granted 50% of the property selling price. As you can see neither banks, government institutions, Generalitat de Catalunya nor town councils, are willing to offer us any support. Our only hope to carry on is your help. We’ve found a place that would be perfect to relocate to, but its price is 375,000 €, although we’ve been asking for 250,000€ as part of our fundraising campaing. The Sanctuary needs to buy and own a property land. We cannot afford another rented property if we want to avoid a similar situation like the one we’re currently going through, where we have no choice but to leave the property with 250 animals in our care. Neither can we move to another temporary location as many of you are suggesting. We have to be realistic: we cannot arrange a whole relocation with all the animals, building the necessary installations at the new place just to leave later on and start anew. May we take this opportunity to thank all of you who have already donated. Let’s all make a final effort because 375,000€ for a project like this is almost nothing compared to all the lives that could be saved, the lives of those who noone else cares about. We have only raised 17,000€ so far. >> DONATE and get more info here: http://bit.ly/HelpSantuarioGaia >> You can also send a DONATION to our bank account:http://bit.ly/DonativoGaia ‪#‎HelpSantuarioGaia‬ * their facebook page

The “No-Kill Farm” working to end abuse of both animals and children

Here is my piece for Aphra Magazine about Peanuts Funny Farm, the animal sanctuary that works to end the cycle of abuse in both animals and children. It was such a pleasure to visit and I can’t wait to go back (honoured Tracey has invited me again).
