We don’t have a lot of beaches here in TX, but we have lakes. Now that the city has slowly started to return to normal (well, the new norm), I expect that by the end of the month, we should be seeing lots of people and families cooling off by the lakeside really soon 😃. .

It’s been about a week since I posted. I cut my hand pretty deep (twice) while trying to make the dock for this setup, but I’m starting to heal and regain some mobility again. Needless to say, lesson learned; I have ordered myself some gloves and tools that I’ll be using from now on. . .

Likes - It was a pretty easy scene to setup. Besides me cutting myself, I really enjoyed building the dock and it got me looking into other props I could build myself. I’m already working on a few. Also, I like the colors. (Scroll for BTS)

Dislikes - I forgot to put a regular sized item in the shot for scale. I would usually use a pencil, paperclip or cup, and I completely forgot this time. It’s driving me so crazy that I can’t look at the pics for too long because I just want to delete and start over 😄. .

I took these shots yesterday when I was in a different head space. I had a really subdued, reflective day partly because pretty early in the day, I stumbled on some of my mom's stuff while I was cleaning out my office.

Seeing her all the pics, cards, and hand-written notes plunged me down the memory lane and pretty much set my mood for the rest of the day. Because of this, I found myself unable to do much work, and I spend the day staring out of the window by my desk, lost in thought.

.

I don't like to talk about my mom's passing too much because I never really know how to put how I feel into words. There are good days and bad days, and yesterday was definitely the latter. Add that to the lockdown blues, and you have a recipe for despondence.

.

.

Today, I feel MUCH better, thankfully. I spent about an hour or so last night working on the moon shot while talking to a very dear friend, and  doing both helped raise my spirits significantly. I went to bed happier than I had been all day, and woke up today with a smile on my face and pep in my step. Hope everyone is doing okay out there. I'd say TGIF, but I'm not sure that even applies anymore. :-)

Here are 2 of my fails from the past week or so. It’s been pretty busy at work, so I haven’t had time for much else. .

.

Also, I’ve been really lazy lately, and haven’t been editing my pics in RAW. I just upload the jpegs to my phone and edit with Instagram filters or LR Mobile. .

.

There’s a story behind the 2nd image (B&W), but I don’t feel like I’ve done it justice with that image. That’s my 2nd failed attempt (3rd attempt was tonight) to get that shot, and I’m not going to stop trying till I get it. .

.

More shots to come over the next couple of days for sure. I have carved out some time for myself, and I’m really excited to see what I can come up with. .

.

Hope everyone is having a good week so far on this 85th day of quarantine! (I know it hasn’t been that long, but it sure feels like it! 😃)

Wide awake on the sea of tranquility.

I have this friend who has this gorgeous lake behind his home. It's so close, you could almost call it part of his backyard. It's just the most beautiful stretch of nature you can imagine. Every morning, he and his wife get in their small boat, sail out a bit, then sit and sip their coffee as they watch the sunrise together. Even in the winter, they do this. If ever there was a perfect way to start one's day, I think that would be it...

Quarantine Blues

I haven’t felt like myself lately. The longer we’re quarantined, the more removed I seem to be. It’s like I’m here, but not. I’m grateful for my family and couldn’t imagine going through this without having them around. Still, I feel displaced... out of sorts. Like I lost my cadence somewhere along the way. The world around seems to be moving along without me, and sometimes I can’t seem to muster the zeal or energy to catch up... This year will make it into the history books, and it’s wild to think about, no? Our children’s children will learn about the Coronavirus Pandemic and how it shut down the world as a whole, and we get to say not only did we experience it, we thrived IN SPITE of it. I don’t know about you guys, but that gives my spirit a much needed lift at times like this.☺️. In time, this too shall pass. Be safe out there, guys. 🤗.
