“Nine Lands, Four Lords”
We decided to tell you about the game world in which the events of the game “The Lovers' Section” will take place.
We are talking about the Nine Lands of Arterica, a large island nation founded in the Middle Ages by Anglo-Saxon, Dutch, Germanic and Slavic settlers adventurers from Europe. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean between Europe and America. Connecting these continents, the island opens oceanic routes to the rest of the world, but that's not why the island got its name.
According to legend, during the Age of Miracles, a formerly unremarkable island channeled through itself a growing and seemingly inexhaustible flow of energy, like an artery, that endowed all surrounding sentient beings with a power that could make any of their desires come true. If they were able to control it. Each of the desperate lords of Europe, having learned about it, moved to Arterica, the way to which was not so easy for those times, and then could use this power for their own purposes. Before the power was exhausted.
So this is just a legend without substantial evidence, but for many historians nothing else can explain the rapidly growing standard of living, technological and military power of Arterica in those times and becoming the dominant force in the region. That's why Arterica was so named.
HISTORY
Arterica was inhabited by many nomadic peoples, long before the crown came. One of Arterica's leading kingdoms belonged to an unnamed dynasty that took the initiative to unite all lands on the island under its aegis and change the form of government from a monarchy to a republic with separation of powers, which was unacceptable to many monarchs of the feudal era.
European dukes predicted Arterica's collapse and problems amidst the madness of their leaders, but these reforms led to the rapid growth of the state's development and the continued dominance of the lands united under one banner throughout Arterica and the Atlantic Ocean as a whole, attracting more and more people from Europe and causing a drain of subjects from the continental lands.
Efforts to stop Arterica's economic miracle have failed for all the countries that have attempted to take over its territories throughout history. But Arterica hasn't invaded outsiders since then either, though her army has engaged in other wars. Including colonial ones.
GEOGRAPHY
The lands are also rich in natural resources. The total area of all of Arterica (including the northern and southern islands) is approximately 1,500,000 km², stretching over 2,000 km from north to south and 1,000 km from west to east. It is divided into a temperate humid belt with dense forests and hills in the center of the island. Subarctic with glaciers in the north and coniferous forests in the northeast. Subtropical in the southwest and tropical with beaches and palm trees in the south.

LANDS
The country at the time of the first part of TLS consists of nine lands:
Kingdom of Artland
Duchy of Mädland
Konungdöm of Yuland
Principality of Herland
The Republics of Ruland, West Artland and Shineland
The Island Republics of Freezeland and Treasureland The crown also retains several dominions, small tropical islands from the colonial era.
ENCYCLOPAEDIC INFORMATION
The population of the island is almost 100 million, with an average density of 25 people per km². There is a local currency secured by the obligation of tax collectors to collect taxes from the population. The country is open for tourism to a certain list of countries.
The size of the army is 60 thousand with a reserve of 100 thousand. Possesses nuclear weapons and the honorary military order M.O.R.A.L. (Military Order of Royal Arterica Lands).
FORM OF GOVERNMENT
Arterica is not a parliamentary monarchy. Power is vested in the direct heirs of the rulers or lords, princes and dukes of all the lands of Arterica, it is simply divided among them through elections. Roughly speaking, the founding fathers, who were monarchs but united into a single state for the development of the entire island, in accordance with the fundamental laws and rights of citizens in a kind of constitution, agreed to divide the unity of power among themselves through alternate succession and transfer of power only between the worthy heirs of the royal families.
Despite this, there is still a semblance of the institution of separation of powers. The power of the monarch is moderately limited by the parliament. The parliament is composed of members of the royal blood of the monarchs of each of the lands, as well as officers, military officers, generals, trustees and other worthy representatives close to the families of the lords of the lands, most of whom brought the monarch to power.
After a victory, representatives from the winning land get to vote in the House on passing new or changing old laws, reforms, and so on. If it is beneficial to all the representatives of the lands, they will vote in favor of the idea. Voting in the chamber is done in public.
Worthy representatives from lands close to the monarchs may become elected to the throne from that land if they are reunited by blood with the monarch's heirs and swear an oath to the crown and the land.
ELECTIONS
Election to the throne of Arterica is by ballot by voters from the highest ranks (members of the royal bloodlines of the monarchs, veterans, military men of high rank, proxies) of each of the lands, among the representative candidates from the dynasties of lords represented from each of the lands of Arterica.
The lord is replaced every 4 years, with no possibility to be elected twice during the term. Elections are held in a closed manner, but the actual succession of power, stipulated in the law, does not give citizens reason to doubt the observance of these lords.
Elections for executive power in the cities of Arterica lands are made by censored voting of citizens among any candidates from the people. This is similar to the election of a sheriff in medieval England. In this case, the absolute power over the land and the final word is reserved to the monarch of that land, according to their local laws.
LAWS AND CONSTITUTION
The lands may, by agreement, unite into a single land by local vote. In such a situation, the ward representatives and heirs from the newly formed land within Arterica will not become more numerous, nor will their votes. Lands may secede through a vote of all lands in Parliament.
The people of the lands have the right to petition its lords for redress of grievances. The constitution of the country does not prohibit changing the form of government, but if it happens, there will be no power over Arterica except for the heirs monarch of the land.
The Lord of Arterica has the right to declare war on another country without the consent of Parliament. If the Arterica lord calls a country to fight, all its lands, together with the Arterica lord, will be obliged to submit and fight. In the event of the death of the current Arterica lord, there must be a transfer of power to his heir, who will rule until the end of the dead Arterica lord's term.
Arterica's constitution limits its nation to a defined ethnic community of any European denomination. Citizenship is granted to any free white person of European descent and good character. Finding or hiding illegal migrants in the country is severely punished.
The Constitution of Arterica guarantees the right of citizens to keep and bear any weapon and to keep up to three heavy weapons. The right of self-defense in defense of property, business or life by any means of self-defense is enshrined. The state does not restrict the conduct of business and guarantees complete non-interference in its affairs. The possession, manufacture, trafficking or sale of any type of hard drugs is strictly punishable.
A state may declare a reward for the capture, dead or alive, of any person on the planet who has violated the law of Arterica or committed the murder of its citizen, by issuing special powers to officials within its borders to capture him.
Arterica allows any worthy holders of citizenship or proven useful foreign professionals to enter military service to the crown.
The country does not infringe on freedom of speech, press and assembly, but it does restrict the admission of citizens of certain political spectrums whose actions and views are aimed at destroying the foundations of the land or country...
The rest of the information about the world will be provided in the game upon its release.
