more specifically, the last shadowhunter theory

so, i was rereading city of bones and i stumbled upon this:

and i immediately thought “okay, this could be it”, because now they know they can pass through the warding. so maybe that possibility of blocking the entrance of the demons is something cassie will explore in tls, even more possible if we believe the title is literal (which i initially refused to believe when i first started to think about this theory, and it took me a while to sort of wrap my head around it, because being shadowhunters is who they are, you know?)

so the last shadowhunter could be referring to them getting rid of demons by blocking their entrance, and with that it is possible for them to stop being shadowhunters, because there are no more shadows to hunt. (because i’ve been seeing some people say she might kill all shadowhunters, and unless that happens in an alternate dimension, i highly doubt she would do that to end the saga, i believe it would be meaningless to do something like that)

cob also kept me mentioning shadowhunters as “a dying breed”, so it would be sort of fitting to circle it back and dwell on it for the last book

like i said, i was initially reluctant to accept this theory, but then jace says this in cob:

and i was like “shit, he’s right”. i mean, them being shadowhunters is important to me because that’s the role they play in the shadow world to me, you know? but for them, it’s a job. sure, some of them enjoy it, but maybe they could just be nephilim, just as werewolves, vampires, fey and warlocks just are. still, it was hard to totally embrace because i thought “if they don’t kill demons, then aren’t they just like mundanes?”, and i still don’t have an answer to that worry.

but the theory kept getting louder in my head because cob has constant reminders of the disadvantages of being a shadowhunter, all the ugly parts of it, how they’re in some way chained to that life of “scars and killing”.

additional note: i was telling my theory to my sister, and how i don’t want to believe they stop being shadowhunters, and she told me “it’s the end of an era, bby. if they stop being shadowhunters it would tie the books up perfectly. the era (saga) ends when they stop being shadowhunters”. and i asked her what the characters were supposed to do if that happened, and she said “there are always more and better things to do, and there are definitely better things than killing demons” and it helped me sort of accept and embrace this theory even more, but i did cry when she told me that, and she just laughed at me :)

yeah so safe to say i was struck with inspiration

ESSENTIALLY my headcanon is that each time scott is able to kill joel, his horn gets longer (dragon blood mythological hoo-ha, metaphor for his confidence, who knows). At first it's an advantage (long ranged attack, sharper & whatnot) but it becomes an inconveniece. Eventually it gets to a point (wild life) where its just a hinderance and joel is able to use it to kill him, essentially controlling him through what was originally his weapon of demise (cool i know). Either that or scott is able to kill him, but his horn gets stuck, and in trying to get it unstuck it snaps and he loses his life magic (or something). Or pehaps some sort of symbolism through etho shooting scott because he has become so similar to joel (relentless and wild). ANYWAY im getting a little off topic. Enjoy my ramblings. Oh and *throws doodle at you and runs away*

Congrats to @thelonelyshore-if for the Chapter 3 release! I was listening to Anxiety by Doechii when my tls brain rot gave me the idea to make art for it. Towards the end of making it, the idea to turn it into a poster hit me in the head like a brick so here we are!

Extra yapping under the cut! It does contain spoilers for chapter 3 so please don't open that if you are avoiding spoilers.

I pulled a handful of references from the story for this piece.

The Fog and The Lake being the most obvious parts

The mushroom and eyes from Willow's journal. The eye designs are specifically from Croft's tattoos shown here. The eyes really rep mc always being watched by the fog

The tendril from the lake that dragged mc under during the storm and the X's over their eyes to represent them dying in said lake

"Wrong" coming from mc's thoughts about the way the mall feels

Croft telling Yasmin that mc's arrival is "breaking the pattern"

Ravi's quote " Nobody leaves Easthaven. Ever." during the reveal scene with him, Jay, and Dr. Jones.

the difference in people's opinions surrounding Livvy's fate in TWP is so interesting because I feel like there a group who strongly believe she should die and another group who strongly believe she should be brought back... anyway I was wondering what the actual break down within the fandom is

adoptive daughter of warren nicolas moore, my adult timeline only oc, she was 12 years old when she passed away in a tragic boating accident. she fell overboard, and before she could resurface or swim away, she was drawn into the boat intake system and sliced by the boat propellers, causing fatal injuries. her and her father used to go fishing all the time, so this was entirely out of the blue, as she knew the safety precautions. her death was ruled accidental in the end, though it still haunts warren's dreams late at night.

she loved to draw and garden, when they'd fish she always threw her fish back in the water when her father wasn't looking, since she didn't wanna hurt them. heavy narrative haunter for warren 💔 her death drives him to a serious mental breakdown that lands him in inpatient care for over a year. soon after this, he joins lottie's commune.

no nonono NO NooOo!!! i just thought about how we will definitely be getting a scene where kit is in danger because of lucifer and i imagined about how cool it would be if the first time ty sees satan himself is as he is torturing or making kit suffer. and how absolutely crazy it would be if –despite him literally being in the same presence as a fallen angel– the only thing ty can focus on is kit. like imagine if he would barely even clock that lucifer is there because the love of his life is in pain. that's true love right there, baby <3
