tonight was a very emotional night for me.
peach cove, my day 1 animal crossing island, is no more.
she served her purpose for over 5 years. i have changed so much since i started her. at the beginning of lockdown, i was going through a tumultuous time in my life. i was living with someone who was abusive towards me and was stuck in the house most of the time, but turning to new horizons was my safe space. even though the friends i started with are no longer in my life, those wonderful memories live on in my mind and my heart.
5 years later: i have had no contact with that person since i moved out in june 2020. i started a relationship with the love of my life. i moved all the way across the country. my grandfather, my last living grandparent, lost his admirable battle with cancer. i lost my heart dog of nearly 11 years after months of treating his autoimmune disorder. i had a son, albeit 5 weeks early via emergency c-section. i’m getting married this year, shortly after our son turns 2. and all of the wonderful and terrible things that happened between everything.
so raise a glass to peach cove and its resident representative, peach, for whom this blog never would have been started. raise a glass to the catalog trading discord we ran for a short period of time. raise a glass to the sleepless night spent grinding for bells. raise a glass to the hours on voice chat while exploring each other’s islands. raise a glass to the community that deserved so much more from this game.
