You say a lot of things you don’t remember.

Little offhand comments. Tossed into the air like feathers—light, forgettable.

But Keiji remembers all of them.

His Notes app is full of them.

Literally. There’s a folder. “[Reader] – Observations.”

Inside it? Chaos and poetry.

“I think the moon must get lonely. Everyone loves her, but no one ever really talks to her, y’know?”

“I think people are like tea. Some of us just need more sugar.”

“Keij, can we kiss under bad lighting? Like grocery store lighting. Just to see if it still feels like magic.”

“You ever look at the stars and think about how small we really are?”

“If I was a bug, I’d still fall in love. And then die dramatically. I just know it.”

“If you really think about it, eyes are the only part of us that don’t age. Like, that’s the same gaze we’ve always had.”

“Being around you feels like the lights are dim but in a cozy way.”

“Keiji, don’t laugh, but I think some people were born to be kissed in the rain.”

He started writing them down as a joke, originally.

You talk like a dreamer. You always have. So much of your wonder slips between your words without you even noticing—and he… he couldn’t let it vanish.

So he saved it. Every spark. Every softness. Every truth you didn’t mean to say out loud.

Now it’s been months, and he’s got nearly two hundred entries.

And he’s in love with all of them.

He’s in love with you.

Which is why he’s sitting here in his dorm room at 11:43 p.m., screen dimmed low, trying to piece together a letter. Something beautiful. Something made of you.

He tries different formats. A fake essay. A sonnet. A grocery list.

He gets as far as:

[Reader]’s heart

Rain, on purpose

Eye crinkles (when happy)

Moon girl, always

And then stops.

Because how do you confess to someone like you?

Someone who talks like constellations and breathes like she’s trying to hug the sky.

Someone who says things like “I don’t think I was meant to be loved quietly,” and then turns away before she notices him watching.

How does he write a love letter to someone who’s already written herself into his life?

Maybe the answer is: You don’t. Not all at once, anyway.

He scrolls back up, rereading entry #52.

“You feel like déjà vu. Like I’ve known you before—but not in a bad way. In a heartache way.”

He stares at that one longer than the rest.

Because that’s when he realized he loved you. Not suddenly. Not all at once. But in a slow, inevitable kind of way—like pages filling with underlines and annotations until the book is yours.

So instead—he hits share.

He selects the folder.

All entries.

Sends them to you.

No subject line. No explanation. Just this:

keiji: I’ve been collecting your magic. I hope that’s okay.
