Concept: Beauty and the Beast type scenario, cruel prince is a big hairy monster, transformed by a curse until he learns some goddamn decency, girl shows up, stuff happens, true love’s kiss, curse broken – prince reverts to true form of even bigger, even hairier monster.

My son smiles with inspiration as he enters the museum's puppet creation room.
"Daddy, I want to make a Jason Voorhees puppet."

Do you happen to still have that picture (of her with the Grim Reaper)?
It’s somewhere deep on my Facebook. I’m not sure I want to throw her out on the internet.
I mean, she already went viral on Instagram and Twitter once, but at least she had a mask, then.

THEY’RE LISTENING
Every parent has that one irrevocable moment when they realize their children are taking in the media played around them, from TV shows to music on the radio.
For me, that’s hearing my four-year-old sing and realizing she’s doing the chorus from “Dig Up Her Bones” from the Misfits.

The ultimate power move in a vampire/fairy rivalry would be the fairy inviting the vampire over for tea. The vampire has natural dominion over anyone who invites them into their home, the fairy has natural dominion over anyone who violates the laws of hospitality, and neither can refuse the appointment without showing weakness, so it’d just be a constant headgame of the vampire trying to manoueuvre the fairy into a position where the obligations of hospitality allow the vampire to eat them, and the fairy trying to trick the vampire into doing something that would allow the fairy to declare them a poor guest.

This is a Victorious Ewok holding a severed Stormtrooper head, stained with front yard dirt, macaroni and cheese, and lots of glitter.
This garment is the perfect summary of my daughter.

Back in the 70s, they were cattle mutilating Skunk Apes reported in my neighborhood. That really should get more playing.

This is 100% the way somebody would make a character for a monster role playing game.

The Mourioche is a horse-like creature found in Brenton in England. The Mourioche is said to look like a normal horse except that is has two huge, muscular human-like arms sticking out of the sides of its body. The Mourioche is said to be a shapeshifter being able to transform into almost anything however whatever it transforms into retains its strong forearms. The Mourioche loves to hunt people at night by trying to lure as many people as it can on to its back where then drags them down into the water similar to that of the Kelpie. The Mourioche also loves to prank people by wrestling unsuspecting people and throwing them into ditches with its powerful arms.

So @homedepot literally just used footage of characters from Trick ‘r Treat on one of their light-up Halloween LEDs portraits.
Hey, @trickrtreatnetwork and @trickrtreat-blog: any idea how to contact Sam about this? I’ve heard he can work out copyright issues with only a lollipop.

Just curious do you still have the 911 book? You should put another set of dying batteries in it and summon the emergency demons
I kinda worry that I’d be triggering the sequel rather than completing the movie.

Hi, This is kind of an unrelated question but I want to write a book where children go to a Haloeeen party and dress up in old time characters like Frankenstein. Will I get sued if I do that or can children dress up as gothic characters in a book? Do you know? Thanks, Shayla
It depends on what version of Frankenstein you use.
If it’s a public domain character, like Frankenstein, Dracula, or a werewolf, you can do it. You just have to make it different enough that it wouldn’t be mistaken for or identical to someone’s copyrighted version, like the Universal or Hammer one.
That’s how companies release a Mulan DVD the month Disney releases their movie.
Of course, I’m not a lawyer. But that’s what I’ve heard and work on.

I don't know if you're interested but in the mid-90s Jill Thompson wrote two Sandman books in the style of childrens' picture books. LIttle Endless and Little Endless: Delirium's Party. They're kind of cute but hard to come by but you might find them on ebay. Your post Neil Gaiman shared made me think of them.
I’ll have to take a look!

The amazing thing isn’t how many monsters I recognize.
It’s how many I recognize only through seeing black and white photos in 1980s children’s books.
