A medieval inspired pink castle from 1856, placed on an island in the Rolfsån river, property of Swedish noble family Silfverschiöld. Their farm shop also offers a great selection of locally sourced meat. ❚

The most remote island and nature reserve of Kungsbacka; located roughly 10km from the coast and home to a wide range of birds and a community of local birdwatchers. Open for tourists and overnight stays from April to September via boat service provided by Gottskär Hotel. ❚

A nature reserve on the southern shore of Lygnern to protect the dense and vibrant beach forest, just 6 min drive from Fjärås. Also a common place to go for a cooling swim in the lake on warm summer days. ❚

Tjolöholm Castle
A century-old tudor inspired country house built 1898-1904 by Swedish architect Lars Israel Wahlman. The castle is open for visits and offers overnight stays in the former workers’ housings as well as the old gatehouse. Famous from Danish film director Lars Von Trier film Melancholia shot at the castle. ❚

Skårsjön
A small lake hidden up in the forest at 90m above sea level in rugged terrain with a beautiful bench structure with an integrated fireplace for barbecuing. There's also a stair just to the right of the road leading up to the top of the mountain with a great view of the whole lake and its surroundings. ❚

An old mill converted to a garden store, cafe and craft brewery in the idyllic Alafors right on Kungsbackaån, the main river passing all the way through Kungsbacka down to the beginning of the fjord. ❚

Naturum Fjärås Bräcka
The visitors and information centre Naturum on top of Fjärås Bräcka beautifully integrated into the surrounding landscape of the ridge and the rich nature reserve. There’s also a cafe serving great food and waffles inside. ❚

Hanhals Holme
A beautiful green, and on the seaside rocky, little islet located in the very beginning of the fjord (from the mainland), offering the most scenic view of the whole inlet out to the sea with the surrounding mainland of Onsala, Åsa and all the tiny islands along the way. Also one of the most popular places to go for a swim in the summer. ❚
