Why I think Sebastian is neat (apart from his cool moustache) :D

There are a couple of moments where he seems to hear (or see?) someone or something that we can’t. When they’re examining Ada’s body, his attention is weirdly focused on empty space, until Eyk gets his attention.

During the mutiny when his life is in danger, he looks to the side as if silently demanding help (or awaiting further instructions).

And when he bumps into Maura during the storm, he glances over his shoulder as if someone is telling him to hurry up and move on.

This invisible person can’t be Henry, because we’ve seen that Sebastian communicates with Henry by writing secret messages. In my opinion, this person is Ciaran. If Ciaran truly is operating on a higher level than anyone else, then he probably has the power to interact with the simulation in a different way, unseen by anyone except Sebastian.

He’s not a cliché villain - he knows what’s going on, but he’s not all-knowing or all-powerful (he gets held at gunpoint and pushed around). Instead of evilly twirling his fancy moustache, he’s clearly stressed out and frustrated by the whole ordeal.

During the finale, when Henry tells Maura “they’re all trapped in this loop because of you”, the camera cuts to an unhappy Sebastian. I think Sebastian probably didn’t sign up for this - he got stuck in the simulation against his will and was recruited by Henry or Ciaran (or both) because they needed someone on the inside. He’s desperate to wake up. Maybe he misses his family.

Anyway I think he’s neat :D
