“Did anyone call for some whiskey? Because I may have poured a bottle or two in the punch.” She shrugged with a sly smile, trying to ignore the announcement that had been made.

“Sirius, maybe.” James said with a slight shrug before a grin formed across his face, lighting it up. “Alright, so what if I find someone to kiss me like this? Wanna bet? Let’s see how dreadful I truly am.”

“Yes, I’m wearing green. This might blow your mind, but it’s one of the Slytherin colors.” Lucius muttered tone enveloped in a matter-of-fact mannerism. “You would think the red would distract the attention from that atrocious thing on your face. But I must digress - it doesn’t.” 

“My mind is definitely quite blown, yeah.” He said with a tone of sarcasm as he nodded in agreement. “Then stop looking at me, or is it really that difficult for you to do that?” James wondered. “Maybe you actually like it that’s why you can’t stop staring.”

“I do blame you, because look at my luscious locks. If one of ours is an artifact, it’d be mine.” A bark of a laugh escaped her throat at his next statement, “That was good. But, I think it’s Mulciber that can’t tell his shapes apart.” Shrugging her shoulders, the brunette mulled over his question. Should he be offended. No. Of course not, the Nott girl was only teasing him, like she did with anyone she enjoyed. With a shake of her head, she gave him her answer, before adding verbally, “Nah, I’m kind of promiscuous, anyway.”

“Fine, I’ll let you have this one because I’m a gentleman and I can accept defeat.” That was step two in maturing, according to the muggle book he found in the library. He laughed along at her comment, somehow all insults were better if it involved Slytherins. “I bet, no wonder he’s so sulky.” James smiled at her and shrugged, remembering how her honesty was one the reasons he enjoyed talking to her. “I won’t argue that.”

“but was if it was? you can’t just dismiss my reactions because you don’t agree with them.” Glenda grinned at him, feeling as if she has received points in her favor. “my world could easily be ending because of this grade.”

James’ brows knitted together at her words as he took them in, there was no way she could be so insistent about it... at least he hoped thats she wouldn’t be. But if she didn’t then that wouldn’t be Glenda. “Are you trying to use some sort of reverse psychology on me? Because I think it worked.” He mused with a deep sigh. “Fine, we can go complain to Flitwick.”

“Ah, yes. The fourth years truly are a whole different category of prats.” she sighed, though still chuckled. “That is a bonus. For now it just looks like a large caterpillar on your face. Can’t you like, shave it off or will it grow back?”

“In my opinion they are the worst, you can tell the hormones are getting to them, I would know.” He mused. “I could easily use the counter spell but why bother? Might as well embrace it.” He explained. “Thank you, though, caterpillar sounds nicer than whatever I was called earlier.”

“So now not only do I not look good, but I’m also no longer beautiful?” He sighed dramatically while pushing his hair back. In a way he just couldn’t believe it. “Sirius said I looked manly.”

“well did it occur that I don’t want to write it all over again?” she smiled, knowing that she was bothering James. If she didn’t get a better grade at least she managed that. “we do, that’s the foundation of this relationship.”

“I-” his mouth fell open and he only closed it once he managed to smile at her words. Yeah, he had helped with getting away with such things before but that was before and nothing was that simple anymore. “I guess I can’t argue with that last part, but this isn’t the end of the world, you know?”

“Are you really comparing that mop to a sacred artifact?” She questioned, though, there was a hint of a smile on her lips. “Because, there is more than one flaw with that argument. Such as, do you really think I wouldn’t tousle a sacred artifact? Why do you think I was kicked out of ancient runes? Not to mention that your hair would only be an artifact of your family’s failure to cure unmanageable hair.” Annabelle pointed out before giving a small laugh, “I can’t keep up with my own sex life, Jamesie, let alone yours. If there’s even one to be keep up with.”

“And why not? Can’t blame me for trying alright.” He said dismissively. “I always thought it was because you couldn’t tell shapes apart, but you’ve got a point there and me agreeing is just another step I’m taking in getting over it.” James said with a grin; he would never truly get over it but at least he could pretend. “Should I be offended by that? I may not have such a reputation but that’s not to say I don’t have one.”

“You’ve never looked good, Potter. That must be why that squirrel attached its nuts to your face. Filthy.”

“I’m going to take everything you just said as jealousy.” James replied with a green. “Watch out, Malfoy, you are turning green.”

“Yes, a decent dork. Hexed? Who hexed you?” she asked with a curious tilt of her head.

“Fourth year Slytherin with a need to prove a point I s’ppose.” He said with a shrug. “At least it stopped growing.”

“A decent dork, at least? Right?” He said impatiently. “I din’t want to accept that I was hit by a hex.”

“You look like a 70s porn star. If you looked like Burt Reynolds or Tom Selleck I could get behind it but…” She covered his upper lip. “Way better.”

“You say that like it’s a bad thing.” He said with a wave of his hand. “I don’t know who that is but, I can’t look that bad.”
