Dustin smiled wider seeing Jess smile.He shook his head, “No, I do not. Google has been very helpful in helping me figure things out,” he said, “I do have a question for you however.” He pulled some flowers out from behind his back, because Google suggested it and smiled at her, “Would you like to accompany me on a date?”

Jess stared at him a moment. For the first time in a long time, she was speechless. Her habit of keeping people’s at arms’ length meant that she had never been on a date before. When she was able to speak again, she blurted out “Yes!” Then, with a laugh, she said “Although I would have said yet even if you hadn’t brought me flowers.” She reached out and took them.

Dustin had been looking for Jess for the better part of the day and when he finally found her he smiled and called for her, “Jess! I have been looking for you. I have an important question for you,” he said, stepping in front of her with a smile.

Jess smiled when she saw Dustin. She tried to keep her distance from a lot of people, but Dustin had somehow won her over. “What is it?” she asked. “Did you need something explained to you?” Jess felt like she spent a lot of time explaining things to Dustin.

She gave a laugh. “Actually, you’re thinking of my identical twin. I’m Jess, not Jaeden.”

Jaeden grinned, “Isn’t he?” She put the puppy, beckoning him to get into her lap, smiling when he actually climbed into it. She grinned up at her younger twin, “yay!” she cheered.

“What should we name him?” she asked. “We can’t just keep calling him him, after all.” As she reached to pet him again, she began to think of names. “A cute dog deserves a cute name.”

As soon as they got to the dog shelter, Jae immediately went to play with the puppies. She found one that she particularly liked and when Jess asked which one she wanted, she looked up, “This one!” she cheered, continuing to play with the puppy.

Jess smiled. “Aww, he’s a cutie” she said, reaching down to pet the puppy. He wagged his tail and barked. “I suppose that means he likes us” she said with a laugh. “He’s perfect.” She just hoped the dog wouldn’t get too big. Her room wasn’t very large.

Jess looked at the dogs the shelter had. She’d never thought of herself as an animal person, but she had to admit that all the dogs were really cute. Turning to her sister, she said “Which one do you think we should get?” Although the dog would be living in her room, they would Jae’s as much as her’s.

“I wish you had been there too” said Jess with a laugh. “Man, as annoying as being a succubus can be, I wouldn’t want to be able to read minds. People in general are pretty stupid and I’d hate to have to listen to them all day, even when their mouths are closed.”

“That makes little sense, being a twin means you look the same, right? Why would people assume you are the same? Surely you are different people, right?”

“We are definitely different people” she said, warming up a little. “But people assume that being psychically identical means we’re the same on the inside, too. Although once they get to know us they realize that’s not true.”

“I don’t think that I have ever experienced being jealous,” he said to her, giving her a small smile. He looked at her, “Do you like having a twin? What is it like?”

“I love it. But then, I’ve always been one, so I don’t know any different. There are times when I wish people wouldn’t compare us, but that makes me mad at them, not at the fact that I’m a twin.”
