Jace looked at the drawing before him. "Okay, I see where your vision is, I'm just... I'm unsure of how the execution will turn out," he said. "Though I'm not sure of any technical parts of this, so I'm probably wrong."

Jace opened up the letter, gasping lightly. "Lucy, oh my god," he said, holding out the paper to his girlfriend. "I got it. I got the job working on the research with blood malediction."

Jace gave her a soft smile, trying not to cry himself. "You know... I know we don't really talk about our Mums a lot, but if you ever want to, we can. It sucks that it wasn't around when we needed it most, but I at least want something different for my kids, for yours too, and Scorpius'."
"There's people who dedicate their lives to this research and I think it's incredibly admirable that you want to do the same," Lyra spoke truthfully. While she knew why Jace wanted so closely to work on that, it didn't keep her from choking up a little when he mentioned their mothers. She blinked away the tears. "Yeah I uh– think of all the people you could help with this. It'll be amazing work. I can't wait to hear all about the progress you make, Jace."

"I'm always going to carry the weight of what happened to my Mum and Aunt, quite possibly more than others because of my depression, but I don't know, it feels right," he said. He smiled lightly at Lucy. "You wouldn't, and I love that about you. Whole-heartedly supporting me no matter what."
"I mean of course that can become an issue but at the same time, you and I both know that telling you no isn't going to stop you from doing this," she replied, the ghost of a smile on her lips. They were alike in that way, stubborn about the things that meant a lot to them. "And besides, it's important work. Why on earth would I keep you from doing something that means a lot to you and can do so much good for others?"

"I want to work with people with blood maledictions, find a cure," Jace said, hopeful. "There's some clinical trials I could help with and research. It would less of face to face with immediate patients, but I can't help but think of what this type of research could've changed for Mum, for your Mum too," he said.
"I suppose you're right. I'll have to talk to her then. She's always had impeccable taste," Lyra considered with a laugh of her own. "Switching jobs though? That's huge. How are you going to decide?"

"It's just a matter of getting through interviews and hoping I get a position," Jace replied. "You don't think it's bad that I'm a little too close to this, do you?" He voiced his worries. "I mean, the research, finding a cure, it could keep kids who were just like me from losing their Mum or Dad, or Aunt, entire bloodlines, my bloodline, and Lyra's and Scorpius'." He feared that a lot, not of him being diagnosed, but of Lyra, or Scorpius. Or their kids.
"Oh Jace, that's amazing," she gasped after a moment of processing the information. She knew he had a history with the illness and so she knew it was a case that was close to his heart. "You'll be doing so much good for people with that. I just know it."

"Yeah, but I was thinking of maybe switching jobs, or at least trying to switch jobs," Jace replied. He let out a small laugh, "I think you'd have better luck getting some recs from Lucy instead."
"I can imagine it's really freed up your schedule. Are you enjoying the extra time?" Lyra asked with a smile. "That sounds like a yes. And it sounds like I'll be coming to you for some book recommendations too."

"That seems like you're asking to get hurt. Can't you fall down in that thing, especially if you're rolling down hill or something?"
An eyebrow arched slowly upwards at the question. "You don't know what zorbing is? Well, you're about to experience a revelation." Alfie informed the male as he tapped around on his phone until he acquired a video of people taking part. "So you climb in that thing and then you roll around in it... down hills, running along a field, some even go over water, it's really all down to the company you use."

"I was thinking of trying to get a position with the other researchers on clinical trials and everything, especially for blood maledictions, like the one that helped Charlotte with hers."
Lucy's interest was piqued when he used it to shift the subject. "A different part?" she quirked a brow at that, wondering what Jace meant. "Do tell," she urged her to elaborate.

Jace held his hands up in response. "Okay, okay," Jace replied. "What would you like to order?"
"And I appreciate you looking out for me, Jace. But... you can look out for me and have fun with me," she insisted, poking him in the chest a few times for good measure. "I know... I know," Laurel nodded as she twisted a little in her chair. "Let's a least go all out with a food order then, yeah? Treat ourselves and all that?"

"I'm a little nervous to ask this, but what is zorbing?" Jace asked with a raise of his eyebrows. "I'm not sure it sounds very fun."
"So, I've been put in charge of employee wellbeing in the workplace. Might not have been their best choice because I am significantly more attuned with creatures but thems the breaks I suppose. Either it will have been their best move ever or they will find they were seriously mistaken in their decisions. Anyway, I'm making a list of social activities we could do but these are definitely heavily biased towards my preferences but really, zorbing is a great way to lift your mood. That or you could potentially give your bosses a little bit too much of a push 'accidentally'." Alfie stated as he leaned back in his seat, rolling his shoulders lightly where there was a slight ache.

"Honestly, loving some of the free time I get now that I don't have potioneer training on top of work," Jace replied with a light laugh. "Who would've thought that I could finish a book that didn't have anything to do with that."
"Honestly? Not much. I've spent a lot of my free time off of work reading in the gardens," Lyra admitted. It had been nice to take time to herself but it still got lonely. "How about you, Jace? You look great."

"You know I'm just hear so that I can make sure you get home alright, right?" Jace asked with a raise of his eyebrows. "Plus, the pub food here is pretty good. You know I don't really drink."
"Anyone up for dancing?" Laurel waltzed up to the bar with a half-empty bottle, sliding herself onto a barstool and leaning her weight against the wooden tabletop. "Or maybe shots first? Will you do some with me?" she turned to the person sat beside her.

"So uh, speaking of work," Jace said, feeling now might be a good time to bring up his thoughts about switching jobs. "I was thinking of applying to a different part of St. Mungo's now that I finished my potioneer training."
"It's just... difficult. I know it's all part of the job but there's a lot I wish wasn't," Lucy confessed with a sigh. Sometimes it was a really challenge to face work with everything that went on her head, but when she thought about all the people she was helping it made it all worth it.

"They are a mix so it's not just one or the other. I just have to hope that they are not like your year group then, don't I?" Jackson responded in good humour at the males response. He had faith in the ones he'd chosen to use that incentive with though and hopefully they would live up to his expectations.

Octavia glanced at what he circled, "Okay, yeah. You might be right about that," she replied, "It was just one I came up. Sometimes you have to state the obvious so it doesn't get forgotten."
