everyday i mourn jackie taylor like im the one that let her die

might be unrealistic but i want to see shauna realize what she's done in season 4. i want her to realize the bloodshed and insanity and resentment she's caused. i want her to see the consequences of her actions and realize what she's done. i want her to be devastated by it.

We don’t talk enough about how many of Lottie’s actions read as covert forms of self-harm and suicidal ideation. She allows Shauna to beat her within an inch of her life without flinching. She eagerly offers up her body for the others to eat if she dies. She stays eerily calm as Travis chokes her, as if she welcomes it. She’s visibly disappointed when she isn’t the chosen sacrifice in the Pit Girl hunt. She is so ready to be the first to drink from the potentially poisoned cup in the adult timeline. And when Callie shoves her down those stairs, she looks truly at peace.

I don’t think Lottie ever truly had a will to live, at least not in the way the others did. Her survival was never about herself; it was about giving everything she had to the group. She didn’t believe she was allowed to die until she had emptied herself completely in service of the people she loved. Her worth, in her eyes, was measured by how much of herself she could give away, how thoroughly she could be broken for the sake of others. Which is why it’s so heartbreaking when the other survivors treat Lottie like a martyr only when it suits them (when they’re starving for meaning or desperate for someone to pour their faith into) and then dismiss her as a liability once she has destroyed herself completely for them and has nothing more to give. They feed into the very belief that’s killing her: that her only value lies in her sacrifice and her pain.
