Haven't been around for a while. Liv's been busy, and I've been...what's the polite word for it?

Oh, yeah.

A basket-case.

Oh, I doubt either of those are changing any time soon, but I felt it necessary to come along and post some less-than-stellar pictures I've managed to take on a recent trip to the mountains.

So, without further ado.

Male Black-headed Grosbeak (Pheucticus melanocephalus). Took me four days of waiting by a feeder to finally get this guy. Every time I'd see him, my camera wasn't immediately available.

Mountain Chickadee (Poecile gambeli). This one was much easier. He was practically posing for the camera!

Male Purple Finches (Haemorhous purpureus). I wasn't too familiar with these guys. It took some work to positively ID them. They have really heavy wingbeats for such tiny birds.

Mostly Incense Cedars (Calcedrus decurrens), with some White Fir (Abies concolor) and a few unidentified shrubs. I feel like some rebels and scout troopers are about to fly past me on speeder bikes.

Wrong forest and mountain range for that, though.

Similar to the last picture, only here we've also got some California Black Oak (Quercus kellogii).

Here we see my inability to overcome certain equipment limitations.

But, dark, scary, primordial woods aside, a lovely carpet of Bracken Fern (Pteridium aquilinum) is always inviting.

And now, something sweet. And a little tart. Sierra Gooseberry (Ribes roezlii) with some kind of pine that I couldn't even begin to attempt to ID at this size.

Well, that's it for this excursion into the Mixed Conifer belt of the Western slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains of California.

At least for now.

I have a lot more pictures that I may post once I get a chance to dig through them, (hopefully) including some female Purple Finches and Black-headed Grosbeaks, some Dark-eyed Juncos, Mountain Quails, Hummingbirds, and (if all goes well) one vibrant and lively little Yellow Warbler.

All right. Introduction, I guess.

Who am I: Jack. Easy peazy, pseudonym squeezy.

What do I do: A little bit of god damned near everything. Drawing, writing, photography, crafting, staring at the sky, screaming into the infinite abyss, having anxiety attacks, you name it!

What am I best at: Thoroughly derailing enjoyable conversations and bringing them to a screeching halt with a single tangential comment. It's not a talent; it's a super power.

How did I get started photographing @mswrinkletoes feet: I was there. I had a camera. I got a C in introductory photography. That's what hard work and dedication gets you, kids. Never give up on your dreams of conveniently finding something you're bad at and doing it without getting paid!

I'm joking, of course. Not about being bad at it and not getting paid, but about the hard work and dedication.

I also enjoy it.

What do I hope to get out of this tumblr: I have no fucking idea! I don't plan on making it all about Olivia and her feet (that's what her blog is for). I just felt like it was a good idea to have one of my own, since I'm doing the whole "being her photographer" thing.

What do I mean by "sexual revolutionary": I mean I firmly believe that we as a society need to move away from our archaic, puritanical ideals about sex and sexuality. I believe that nothing is taboo, so long as all parties involved are informed, consenting adults.

Do I like @mswrinkletoes feet: They're ok, I guess. I'm not sexually attracted to feet in any way. But people like them, so I point and click. I'm mainly in it for the experience, and the creative outlet (our last photoshoot was tons of fun, and she was a CHAMP). If people enjoy the fruits of my (our[her]) endeavor, all the better! So, please, if it's your thing, enjoy!

What else was I going to put here: I honestly don't remember. I had a long post planned, but it all seems to have slipped away.

What else is there? Seriously. I'm asking. I have no idea.
