"Hot already." Jacob replied in response, the sun had barely arrived for the day yet he could tell today was gonna be a scorcher. He didn't mind the summer heat, but preferred the cooler weather normally. "I've never taken this route before so I'd love the company." Jacob grinned in the male's direction. He hadn't been in town long, and would usually choose the gym but the sun being out was encouraging him to hike. "I'm Jacob, by the way."
— jacob carmichael ; belmont park.
nic welcomed the gentle breeze and tree coverage, the sun's nearly unbearable rays blocked from above. when the hell had it started rising above seventy before the day even really started? "it's nice out," he greeted, his gaze settling on another hiker that had chose the same path as him. then again, it wasn't like there were too many options. "just gettin' started?" the carpenter came to a steady pause, a subtle ache already clawing it's way up his spine. "you mind some company?"

Jacob was dressed the part, he had a bright yellow feather boa wrapped around his neck, a pair of gold shorts on and not much else. Rainbow's on both of his cheeks as blush, and glitter shimmered on his chest. Jake wasn't even part of the club but being an ally was huge to him. "Are you okay?" He asked, concern clear on his face as they knocked into each other, but that faded once her smile appeared. "Yeah, it's freaking incredible." The male beamed from ear to ear. "It's my first year at pride here so I was wondering how it was gonna be, but it's great."

"Oof, sorry." Caroline said, when she ran into the man. The place was more busy than usual, and while Caroline preferred when things were quiet - it always warmed her heart to see so many people come out for Pride. "It's hard to get my bearings when it's busy, but isn't the turnout amazing?" She said, grinning.

"Yeah," he nodded in agreement, the last person he was gonna listen to was Taylor Swift too. "I'm not sure though," he's quick to clarify. "You might end up really liking her. Maybe one of those things you stream on youtube or spotify before committing to actually buying the vinyl." Jake suggested, grinning from ear to ear. "Sometimes you gotta try before you buy, or whatever."

"Oh god, if it's close to T-swift then I will say a huge no thanks." She placed the record back into the stack and continue browsing through some other choices. "I listened to enough Taylor Swift to find her irrelevant these days."

"Nah," he replied, letting out a small chuckle. "Well, only 'cause I haven't seen them." He was honestly a little bit out of the loop when it came to movies, let alone the queer kind. He had just come from the parade, so he was sparkling and sweaty. Seemed fitting to come along to one of the movies afterwards though. He had no idea what the premise of it was. "I just came from the parade, craving popcorn and some candy so thought I might as well come down here and watch the movie while I'm at it. What are they playing?"
OPEN STARTER: @windsorbaystarters. LOCATION: Silver Moon Drive In - Pride Weekend.
Lila was excited for this - she loved queer films. She was especially excited to watch Bottoms, something that she enjoyed when she streamed it but didn't have the chance to see in cinemas. Movies were expensive in the city. She locked up her car and made her way to the stand to get some popcorn, and decided to make some conversation with the person in front of her. She needed to make some friends in this town, after all. "Are you a fan of any of these movies?" She asked.

"Pumpkin spice tequila?" Normally Jacob wasn't one to yuck someone else's yum but that sounded truly terrifying and disgusting. "That..." he could hardly find the words for it. "That would make me wanna jump off a bridge alone, forget the rest of it." He can understand her disappointment. Even working at at Genesis, he was used to getting all the drama from the wait staff when it went down. He contemplated his answer, staring at the amber liquid in his glass. "Well, my ex girlfriend decided it was a good idea to handcuff me naked to a lamp post once. Not only was it the middle of New York, outside the place I used to work for, but, it was also on Bravo." His toxic relationship had been broadcasted for the entirety of the world to see. "Is that a little more interesting?"

Nights at shooters had teeth. The kind that sank in slow — right around your third drink, when the jukebox hit something you swore you’d never admit to liking and the haze from the old overhead lights made everything feel just a little softer around the edges. Outside, the place still looked like it had been forgotten by time and forgiven by no one, but inside? Inside was her kingdom. Bex leaned against the bar, one boot propped up on the foot rail, fingers drumming against a chipped bottle opener like she was waiting on fate or trouble — whichever showed up first. Her hair was a little messy, like she’d run her hands through it too many times, and her black tank top had survived at least two beer spills and one idiot who thought calling her sweetheart was a good idea. “Alright,” she said, voice rough around the edges but still loud enough to cut through the low murmur of bad decisions and cheap whiskey. “I've had three couples make out in the corner, two people try to break up at table six, and one guy ask if we have pumpkin spice tequila. so unless one of you plans on catching fire or confessing a murder, it’s officially the most boring shift I've had all month.” She poured herself a shot — no lime, no chaser — and let it burn down like it owed her something. Then, with a smirk curling at the corner of her mouth, she leaned in. “So, who’s got a story worth the spill? Bad hookup, good revenge, something you swore you’d take to the grave but won’t shut up about after two drinks?” Beat. “And don’t lie. I've got a nose for bullshit and a baseball bat in the back if you make me regret asking.”

"She's lovely in real life, I don't know if I've listened to any of her music other than the stuff on the radio, though." He admitted with an awkward chuckle, tilting his head to the side as he flipped through the racks of the early 00's and late 90's. Peak music time, in his opinion. "Kinda similar to Taylor Swift, I wanna say? But I can't say I know much about her music either."

April was going through the records, finding something to add to her collection at least. Thanks to her mother for buying her a record player, she can play some old music that her late father used to blast on the stereo. She picked up one and glanced over at the other, "Do you think they're good or are they over hyped?" April asked as she held the vinyl of Gracie Abrams.

"You good? Or did the book avalanche claim a victim?" Jake's best attempt at a breaking the ice, a smile imprinted on his lips whilst he helped the other male pick up the mountain of books that he'd been carrying. Books weren't exactly Jacob's thing but now with not a lot to do, and new recipes to be inspired by, that was why he ended up in the bookstore. A few of his cookbooks had fallen to the floor, but he wasn't bothered. "It's fine, you're good." He popped to his feet, handing over a few of the books. "You're not gonna start reading all these at once are you?"

One thing Dylan enjoyed was a good book, often times, with his job continually keeping him on the computer for extended periods of time he needed to shut his brain off. Being the lead on the current cyber-security project, meant that lately he was pulling longer than twelve hour shifts. Delegation wasn't something that was Dylan's strong point, his manager pushing him to learn those techniques or he'd be loosing even more time. After making sure projects were given out and tasked properly, and with a click of a button his dual monitors and laptop faded to black. The rest of the day and the following two were all his to enjoy — or attempt to enjoy. Earlier that day he had placed a small order of books on hold but decided to go pick them up and do a little browsing before actually purchasing the books he already had there waiting for him.
Just as he was exiting one aisle, a few other books in his hand he went around too fast and bumped firmly into someone, sending his books spilling to the floor. "Shit — my bad." Turning to look at the person he had just knocked into and see if he had sent anything tumbling to the floor for them.

biography:
Jacob Carmichael grew up in the lap of luxury in Manhattan, the only son of two high-profile power players. His mother, Vivienne Hartford is a world-renowned interior designer whose firm designs extravagant mansions and high end hotels for millionaires and billionaires. His father, James Carmichael, is the owner of one of those high end hotels, called the The Eastlight. That's how his parents met, years ago. From an early age, Jake had access to every privilege imaginable exclusive private schools, designer wardrobes, and family vacations on their custom-built yacht and just simply around the world. He could have easily been a brat but Jacob was pretty chill most of his childhood, sure, slightly out of touch but other than that he was a good person.
Known for his magnetic personality, Jake was a regular on the Manhattan party scene during his twenties, quickly becoming a little bit of a socialite. He’s been spotted courtside at Knicks games, front row at fashion week, and sipping champagne at private rooftop parties all whilst enrolled in culinary school. Jacob's larger-than-life personality quickly landed him a spot on the cast of Behind the Line, a wildly popular reality TV show following the chaotic lives of young restaurant employees at the buzzy New York hotspot Plume & Blade. The series, was described as “Vanderpump Rules meets Hell’s Kitchen,” turned Jacob into an overnight sensation throughout America and the world, not just New York. Fans were drawn to his quick wit, knack for stirring up drama, and undeniable charm, making him one of the show’s breakout stars.
For six seasons, Jacob was one of the show’s breakout stars, thanks to his drama filled on-and-off relationship with co-star Mia Laurent. But the show came to a shocking halt when Mia was tragically murdered by a super fan of the show, leaving the group shattered. The tragedy sent shockwaves through Jett’s life, compounded by the guilt and heartbreak of losing someone he deeply cared about. The cast disbanded, and Behind the Line ended abruptly.
Lost and grieving, Jake moved back into his parents’ penthouse, but the city he once thrived in had become a constant reminder of his pain. Desperate for a fresh start, Jacob spent months and months researching quiet towns of the world before he finally settled on Windsor Bay. He applied for jobs and once one was secured he was moving from his parents penthouse back to live by himself again.
