Last Monday, March 14, Pedro Vaz died. Popó Vaz, as he was known, was a trans man, a digital influencer, he was and will always be a reference in the struggle of trans people, an activist for the trans movement in Brazil. He made history by joining the São Paulo Civil Police. He had been married for over 3 years to Pedro HMC, founder of “Põe na Roda”, a YouTube channel and website created for the LGBTQIA+ audience.
For 13 years, Brazil has been the country that kills the most trans people in the world. A scenario that he and his husband tried to change together in campaigns and protests.
It is very sad to realize that, regardless of the cause of death, when it comes to trans people, the motivation is transphobia.
These photos are a simple way to honor both Popó Vaz and his marriage with Pedro, who were sometimes present here with photos of special and happy moments. We send condolences to all family and friends.
