Elain Week Day 6: Earthwork

For @elainweekofficial Day 5: Friends and Family. Elucien & Jesminda.

Jesminda is super significant to Elucien's story, so we wanted to depict a bittersweet moment that's about love and letting go. We had a lot of fun talking about headcanons of Jesminda doing Lucien's hair when they were together, Elain doing the same, and the idea of her spirit accompanying Elucien in their journey! It was so fun to add little details like Jesminda's desi-inspired heritage and the J & L heart (Jesminda and Lucien) carved in the tree that Jade depicted in one of her other pieces!

Whether it's Lucien telling Elain about Jesminda or Elain getting visions / dreams of her, we hope that SJM discusses Jesminda in future books and resolves the heartbreak both Elain and Lucien feel in regards to losing loved ones, suppressing feelings, and holding onto the past.
