MLP lore lesson: This male hourglass cutiemark pony. Most fans of the show will know him, but I think this lore might be funny to learn for people who weren't part of the fandom at the time.

He was originally a generic townie that appeared in some episodes as a random passerby. The fandom decided he resembled David Tennant as The Doctor on Doctor Who, taking the hourglass cutiemark as a reference to time travel, and thus the fans named him Doctor Whooves. In fanworks, he was commonly paired up with "Derpy Hooves", another popular background pony, mirroring The Doctor's MO of traveling with a female companion.

Like many popular fan-interpretations of the background ponies, this fanon was eventually semi-canonized in copyright-safe ways in later seasons by giving him accessories that referenced different Doctors, such as David Tennant's tie and 3D glasses, Tom Baker's scarf, and Matt Smith's bow tie.

Finally, in the season 5 episode Slice of Life, he was canonically referred to as "Doc" and "Doctor", as well as researching time travel alongside Derpy Hooves, as clear nods to the fandom.

Though the character is usually referred to as "Time Turner" in official sources, there are at least a few instances of the character being officially referred to as "Doctor Whooves" or "Doctor Hooves", such as in figures and on a trading card. There is also a comic where he appears on the cover with multiple Doctor Who references, such as a Weeping Angel and a street lamp that resembles the Tardis.

ricky and cesar rack up another 1st. I don't drive so I hadn't realized ricky's point of how weird it is for the driver to not see the map and have to purely trust their partner, which uh, yes ricky seems like he'd struggle with. what cesar struggled with a little: welding. it's fun to see the hands-on making tasks because often that's the thing the prototypical Best Teams do worst at. also, they had the time of their lives doing the singing and dancing detour in bright costumes - I like that they're so obviously good at the race but are also clearly enjoying the moment

yvonne and melissa did not get second last! i am celebrating this! and them ditching their bags once in view of the mat hahaha. getting the first signs of some arguing tension, so we'll see how that goes. neither they or ricky & cesar will have a spanish advantage in barbados. need them to be better at navigation and picking detours, the difference between them and ricky & cesar singing was so bad lmaooo, yvonne does not have a musical bone in her body

sunny and bizzy, alas, are gone. can't believe they just drove up to random plazas and into a port instead of reading their clue properly to know which plaza to go to. they are so good at the tasks themselves that if they were even average at navigating they would've had a real shot of top 3 - reminded me a lot of lena and morgan from the previous season. i shall miss their good naturenedd
