Poem on the porch
I'm currently sitting on my porch. It's a nice day out, so I decided as one of my last blog posts, I'll write a poem/rap.
Im sitting on the porch, doing some work
and out of nowhere comes my roommate, Kirk
He says whats up, and we talked for a bit
Usually he does but a cig he did not lit
Im just kidding about that last part
He rarely smokes anymore, but will eat a pop tart
I have a roommate Ryan, the others name is Shaun
Every morning he wakes up at the crack of dawn
He goes to the gym and gets pretty big
Even though sometimes he'll eat like a pig
Ryan is a quiet one, loves to play vids
Very smart, and has been since a kid
I got fired from my job, and I'm still really bitter
Because my boss knows that I'm not a quitter
The job was the best, I will move on
Eventually they'll realize what they did wrong

Letter to Jaguars GM David Caldwell
The new GM for the Jacksonville Jaguars has been very clear and very unclear during his time serving this position. I decided to write him a hypothetical letter.
Dear Mr. Caldwell,
I write to you as an avid fan of the Jaguars. I have been a fan since the days of Mark Brunell, Fred Taylor, and Keenan McCardell. I just have a few questions for you.
Regarding the draft, you have been very quiet in telling other teams and other fans who you like. We have a lot of needs as the second overall pick, but there is some speculation in what direction you are going to take us. As a fan of the Jags, and a football fan, I think you are going to draft Geno Smith. You attended his pro day and because you are re-vamping the organization, you need to start over. That starts with a QB. If you ask me, I think you should take Dion Jordan from Oregon. The guy is a physical specimen who can do a lot of things for the team.
In addition, I want to know why you haven't done more in the offseason. When questioned about it, you told the fans to "trust the process". It's hard to do that when the only guy you bring in is a mediocre receiver when we have other needs at the OL position.
I would love to talk further about this. Thank you,
Ryan Blute

I was thinking of some good moments I have had at MSU after being let go from work, and this right here is up there in the top 3. My freshman year, I had the honor of being at one of the greatest games in Spartan Stadium history. It was a close game the entire time, but we still had faith in our Spartans.
This fake field goal finally put MSU on a national in football for the first time in years. It represents more than just a crazy win, rather pride in our school that we all love. Anyone who has ever stepped foot on campus, wether it be as an opposing fan, student, or simply visiting, know that we have something special within the spartan community.

This commercial by K-Mart is absolutely hysterical. I am going to try to do some research to see what ad agency K-Mart uses because whoever thought of this is a genius. Unfortunately I haven't seen this on TV yet, but what makes it great is that it goes to all markets. It really doesn't target anyone specific, except for maybe people over the age of 15. That's what the target market for this ad seems to be. I would love to see some of their copy and see exactly what their goals are.

Story about how I got fired
Friday was an awful day in my life. It was the first time I was terminated for something. The worst part was that it was for something I didn't do.
A few weeks ago, a co-worker came in intoxicated to work. I didn't know how bad he was until I heard about it after, but I did smell the alcohol on his breath. Because I didn't say anything, I was fired. I have put so much work into that office for the past year and 3 months, and it is unfortunate that it had to come down to this. I recently received a promotion which bumped me up to working 20 hours per week.
I write this sitting at home while I should be at work. This was the best job that anyone could receive on campus. You never work past 7, and you dont work weekends. I literally have no idea what to do with myself.
I'm going to get creative in a few minutes and make a flowchart of how this all went down.

typing for five minutes
This is a prompt I have given myself. I'm at work and I'm picturing myself standing by the Red Cedar river.
Ready, Go!
The water looks amazing hitting the rocks and flowing naturally down stream. Although I don't see any fish, I know from taking ISP that not only is the water clean, but there are tiny organisms living in there that is essential to our ecosystem. Ok I need to slow down, I'm sending somewhat smart. Any way, as I continue walking down the river I decide to go up the bridge and head to IM west passing Sparrtan Stadium on the left hand side. I'm feeling good, so I decide to work out for a bit. I run for a few miles then I work on shoulders (that's actually exactly what I'll be doing tonight/tomorrow/this weekend/ literally whenver I have time. Time is something I actually do no have much of lately. Between class, work, going to the gym, and doing homework, it gets pretty stressful. Which is probably why I have these damn kanker sores in my mouth all of the time.  I gurantee next year, or this summer, when I am less stressed out I won't have any of them.

Rare night
Last night, a student IN THIS CLASS, who will remain nameless, caught a possum in a trap he set up in our backyard. At around 2:00 am, he came home and wanted to show it off to our guests. He brought the possum inside and proceeded to chase people around the house with it.
He then left and never came back.
Until this morning.
I came downstairs when I woke up to see where the roommate was and how his night finished up. He was no where to be found.
It was then when I realized that he could be in some trouble. Afterall, he was drunk and holding a possum when he left the house.
It turns out he was put in jail. I had to bail him and my other buddy out and eventually everything was OK. I will never forget this night as it was a combination of funny/rare/entertaining.
Oh college life...

Problem solving
The problem solving question I was thinking of proposing to my group was: How are we going to reduce parking violations on campus by helping both the university and it's students?
This is going to be extremely challenging to try and figure out. Because we are focusing on lowering the prices of violations, the university needs to somehow make up for the money that they are losing.
This is going to take some creativity from both the group and myself. I hope we have some creative minds in this group, because I know I won't be able to think of a solid logical answer by myself without the help of others.
The group is communicating better than I thought too! I'm excited to work with this team and hopefully present in front of the vice provost of MSU.

This was tonight’s activity in class which I personally found very helpful in terms of brainstorming. My group came up with 4 categories to put parking problems in

PACE paper
The issue that I have been assigned to for our project is the problem that we have at this university of parking on campus. Although I don’t have a car, I know the struggles students have with parking to get to class because I have been in cars where they have gotten tickets or have been unable to park somewhere because there was no space. Now, there are ways to beat the system. One example is the IM West parking lot on weekdays. If you need to get some studying done at the library, you might park at IM west for it’s convenience of walking. What some people still don’t know is that after 9 pm, you don’t have to pay for parking. So, one can literally park there all day and leave anytime after 9, and they wont have to pay a cent for parking.
This Is going to be a challenging project for a few reasons. First, the creativity from all participants in the group must be at it’s peak because the collaboration of people throwing ideas around for this extremely important. In addition, the research done will also be hard because PACE will be tempted not to give out some information because it will be surprising to many people.
According to PACE, the top offenses for parking are:
Parking in designated parking areas only
No parking on any street from 2-6am
No parking or driving on lawn
Parked vehicles must be operable and have a current license
There are several tow-away zones as well. Some of these locations are marked as “no stopping, no standing, or no parking zones”. However, some of these aren’t marked. These zones are defined as “On streets where the normal width of the roadway is reduced by a building or buildings or by a construction project and”At or adjacent to streets and locations where safety and traffic movement is affected by occurrence of a public even
“. This can be an issue for a large university like MSU. With a school of over 48,000 students, there are events practically every weekend, where accommodations cannot be met. An example for this is a football or basketball game, where there aren’t ant specific parking structures. Some people in East Lansing rent out their space to people to make a little extra money because they know that East Lansing does a poor job of accommodating needs for events like this.
As far a statistics and other information that I want to find out, the supervisor of PACE has been gone the last few days, and wont return until tomorrow. I am going to have to call him back sometime soon to get answers to questions I have such as the amount of tickets that are handed out each day, the amount of money PACE makes off of these tickets, and questions about logistics on how PACE operates (how many employees they have, how much they make, how often they go around, etc. )

Country
I can't believe I'm saying this, and back at home a lot of people think I'm crazy, but after driving cross country with a car full of people who love country music, I am starting to actually like it. I can't really listen to the slow country tunes, but the more upbeat ones I can handle. I got a country CD mixtape from my friend sometime last year and from there I started listening to it only a little bit, but honestly, it's not bad. It's the kind of music that makes me wants to sit in front of a bonfire in the summer with a beer and a burger in my hand and kick back, relax and talk with a bunch of my friends. Except my friends back at home this summer will hate country and I already know it.

Today at meijer, I was a approached by an old woman who asked me if I needed any help finding my friend because I was waiting for about 10 minutes for him. I could have said simply no, and ended the conversation, but I talked with her for a little bit about my life and what I have been up to. She was a meijer employee, so her job was just do Greet people and go on and on, so I wanted to shake it up. I would have normally probably said I'm ok thank you very much for asking and ended the conversation. I think it brightened her day a little bit. She was pretty happy after the conversation. I felt great afterwards.
