Reviewing Past Writing Works: Is Rock ‘n’ Roll Dead? Apparently, No One Knows
Grade 85%
This paper definitely a rhetorical analysis and it does its job of talking about rhetorical moves. Throughout the paper you do a good job of finding relevant quotes from the articles to your topic. There is also nice diction used within the paper, creative words and saying are nice in this kind of paper. The introduction and the conclusion both do their job well. By hooking the reader and explaining which paper is better from the beginning so I’m not waiting until the end to know the verdict is, also by wrapping up your thoughts and restating your main point.
One improvement to be made in the rhetorical analysis aspect is to the unpack your points more than you did in the paper. Just generally more in depth unpacking and explaining of the authors style and their rhetorical moves. Also, another improvement to be made is to re-work the thesis. Include a small amount of the rhetorical moves you plan to talk about so it’s clearer to where your planning on going with the paper. Overall this is a good rhetorical analysis, but it could be improved by being clearer in your writing and unpacking the finer details more.

High cost of textbooks
The costs of textbooks on campus are usually a big problem. Most students end up not buying textbooks because they cost to much to purchase. When I went to Michigan States bookstore my first time to buy books for class I realized why students weren’t buying them right away. I looked at the price for a advertising book and it was $140 to buy new and then $100 to rent, which I thought was ridiculous because these are college students that have to buy these books and that is a lot of money for the normal student to have to spend on just one book. Some books were cheaper than others and some you could buy used or even rent them used, which takes the price down a little but not enough to make an impact. The problem is that students are not buying textbooks anymore because most classes they are not a big necessity to have and because of price. I think that campuses around the nation should be able to decrease the price of textbooks in order for students to succeed at school.
Students often don’t even go to the book store when they know they only need one book, if they only need one book the usually don’t even bother going to get the book at all they just ignore the fact of having to get the book and wait until it is absolutely necessary for them. I think that students need to become more aware of the cost of textbooks and they need to research more into how much each book is going to cost and to see if they could get the same textbook at a different retailer for cheaper. Some stores do certain deals like; if you bring in a picture of a cheaper price for the book the will often match it or give you an even bigger discount towards the book. Students also need to look out for deals towards the end of the semester to see if the store will do book buy backs where they often give you cash back or in store credit for the next time you need to buy a book.
Another option students have is to buy online versions of the book. Most don’t like this because then they cant mark stuff in the book and make notes in the margins. But most of the online e-books that I have used let me highlight stuff in yellow and write down notes at the bottom of the page. Also with the online e-books you can often even rent the e-book for a certain number of days, which will really cut down the cost of the book. Make sure to check the deadline for when you are able to sell back. If it is practical for the student, you could share the textbook with someone in the same class that way it cuts the price in half. Textbooks should not be one of the biggest money breakers for college students. Colleges should make it easier for students to purchase books cheaper.
