Coffee Places
A disclaimer of sorts: I like coffee. A lot. But I'm no coffee connoisseur, and I don't know any of the coffee vocabulary (earthy/nutty/where the coffee beans are from etc). I don't like acidic coffee (while some people do)

Where I'd Go For Coffee
Family Mart: Kopi Susu Keluarga - my latest obsession. Palm sugar, milk, and coffee. I have it iced (as you should if you're ordering kopi susu gula aren/palm sugar cafe au lait basically, which is the latest national craze) + less sugar. It's even better than Kopi Kenangan imo. Con: Family Mart is a convenience store and it's not really somewhere you can sit and chat with friends. Price: 15k IDR
Kopi Kenangan: Kopi Susu Kenangan Mantan - that said, this is still really good. Also palm sugar, milk, and coffee. I order this iced + less sugar. Most of the shops are sit down, though some shops are to-go only. Price: somewhere between 20-25k i think?
Pasar Muara Karang (traditional market in the Muara Karang area): kopi susu (basically coffee from Medan + condensed milk) - kinda similar to what you'd get in other kopi tiams/coffee shops but this one is especially *chef's kiss. Price: idk actually my mom always pays lol but probably around 15 or 20k?
Excelso: Avocado Coffee (coffee blended with avocado, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate shavings) - these guys are the OG. My mom says nobody makes Avocado Coffee like them. This might sound weird from ppl from other countries where avocado is considered a vegetable/something savoury, but friends from Thailand and Japan who'd never had avocado as dessert were totally wild about this. Price: i think about 60-70k?
Otto (at Sudirman Citywalk): whatever your regular Italian coffee order is (espresso/cappucino/caffe latte) - probably my fave Western-style coffee so far. Price: less than Starbux for sure, maybe between 30-40k?
