My beloved Nana went to heaven this morning. I officially have no grandparents anymore 😢 From the time I was born, she went out of her way to help make my childhood happy, something I'm glad I got a chance to thank her for each time I saw her last few years. She always encouraged me to be as strange & different as I wanted to be, so long as I was kind to others. Never ever judged me no matter how bad I was messing up. These last few years were so rough on her, we spent week after week bracing ourselves for tragedy, yet she never gave in, displaying a perseverance that was staggering. My house didn't have cable TV growing up, but she did, & my impressionable young viewing of everything from the Beatles "A Hard Day's Night" to "Yo! MTV Raps" - all planting the seeds of music dreams - was done in her living room. She gave me my first turntable (belt-drive, so I couldn't scratch on it, but I sure tried lol). I didn't get home till 7am today, so getting the call was the first thing I woke up to. I'm crushed, & will likely go through a wild range of emotions, but I am thankful that I spent life from Day 1 with the absolute greatest Nana one could ever ask for. The world is a little more empty without you now. But there is a strong & boisterous Viking man (my Grandfather Berg Bach) at the gates of heaven right now who has been missing you for almost 20 years now & I'm glad you two will be reunited. I love you, Nana. And thank you. My life wouldn't have been the same without you. #RIP to Aileen Bach.
