Iâve got to be real, I struggled with getting through this chapter so if it feels like it skips around thatâs why. Either way I hope you enjoy. Next week will be a treat
Pairings: Sam Kiszka X Danny Wagner, Jake Kiszka X Chris Turpin *slash
Warnings and tags: 18+ only please! The Kiszkas being brothers, flirting, more flirting, history talk (please I do not know what Iâm talking about), vampire!AU
Word count: 3k

Jake followed Chris back through the decrepit graveyard up to the old church. Chris let him enter first, waiting a moment to join everyone himself. Surely no one would notice the two fresh puncture wounds on the side of his neck, his collar hid it pretty well now that he had his shirt buttoned all the way up. Even if someone did get close enough to make out the peculiar marks, they were in the company of plenty of vampires. Whoâs to say he was the one who bit him?
âAnd whereâve you been?â Josh cocked a suspicious eyebrow as Jake approached him with a straight blank face, trying to hide how cheery he was.
âAroundâ Jake replied vaguely and took a seat next to his twin on the pew he had claimed as his own. Except he always had to share with Jake. Josh turned towards him, waiting rather patiently compared to how he naturally could be, but Jake kept his mouth shut as his eyes followed Chris across the room just like they had the night before. Only this time he didnât shy away when Chrisâs eyes met his for brief moments here and there. He knew heâd have to tell Josh sooner or later. There was no keeping secrets from him, but for now he wanted to revel in the novelty of it by himself for a little while longer.
At least thatâs what he anticipated doing, until Sam walked over and followed Jakeâs gaze to the charming blond.
âSomeoneâs been a little busyâ Sam commented, a roughness in his tone that combined with the lack of sleep heâd gotten only came off as more rude than heâd actually intended.
Josh looked between his brothers, then took Samâs lead to see who it was they were talking about. âWhatâs the deal with him? Is he like a vampire groupie?
âWhat would even make you say something like that?â Jake fussed, embarrassed that both of his brothers were currently also staring at Chris now. âHeâs looking for the cure, like everyone else hereâ.
âBut why?â Josh questioned further. âHeâs not one of us, so what does he care?â
Jake felt anger bubbling underneath the surface. Why should Chris have to explain his presence here to anyone? Though Jake knew the real reasons, he didnât want to overshare what heâd been told in confidence. âHeâs got his reasons. Letâs just do what he says and not try to cause a sceneâ. That was a big ask considering who his brothers were.
âDid he ask you to lunch? Or was that your idea?â Sam spoke again, pointing at the side of his own neck to further signify what he meant until Jake quickly swatted his hand down before anyone else saw. âWhat!â He groaned, petting his wrist like Jake had slapped him with a switch like when they were kids chasing each other around the pond on a hot summer evening. âIâm just stating the obvious!â
âThat could have been anyoneâ Jake chose to stick to his delusion. Deny it until proven guilty.
âJake, be so for real-â Sam tried to continue to argue, but Josh butt back in. Silencing them both for a moment.
âHow was it?â
Jake formulated his response in his head before answering. If he was going to come clean then he might as well be completely transparent about it otherwise they would never get off his back. âIt was unlike anything Iâve even experienced before. I mean feeding is always satisfying, but that wasâŚâ he struggled to find the right word to perfectly encapsulate the feeling he got when they were together.
âIntimateâ Sam finished for him, making both Jake and Josh confused about why he would know what it was like. âYou forget Iâm in love with a vampire. Iâve asked Daniel to bite me, multiple timesâ.
âGross Sam. I do not need the details of your kinks, please keep them to yourselfâ Josh scrunched his nose and stuck his tongue out like he was gagging.
Jake on the other hand heard exactly what Sam had said - not just the gross part. âYouâre in love with him?â
âWhat?â
âYou said âIâm in love withâŚâ then proceeded to talk about Dannyâ.
Samâs face turned a bright salacious shade of rouge and he started to stammer. âI mean- Well I just mean to say- I didnât mean anything by it! Weâre not even togetherâ.
Jake finally let a grin crack across his face. Not only was the interrogation off of him now, but he got to watch his sassy little brother squirm instead. That stupid love-sick idiot.
âSam and Daniel sitting in a tree!â Josh sing-songed like an immature kindergartener only making the blush in Samâs cheeks grow across his whole face. He looked like a balloon ready to pop.
âShut up!â Sam shouted, not too loud but enough so that a few people glanced in their direction. âWhatever, forget this. Iâm going to find Danielâ.
âK-I-S-S-I-N-Gâ Josh kept going as he was walking away, and Sam threw the bird over his shoulder.
Jake was chuckling while watching the two of them when he felt a presence come up from behind. He stood quickly, the smile on his face faltering so he didnât look like he was amused by such childish behavior. âChrisâ he kicked Joshâs shoe to get him to stand up too. âThis is my brother Joshâ.
âHow-de-doâ Josh turned around and bowed slightly at the waist making Jake want to kick him even harder.
âNice to meet you againâ Chris smiled. âI hope you werenât too worried about your brother when he didnât join you earlier. I may have stolen him away for a while to help me with my studiesâ.
âOh not at all. Jake is a big boyâ.
A âbig boyâ Josh, really?
âIndeed, he is very capable. His handy work was impeccableâ.
Jake cleared his throat and Chris smirked in response. Well that was enough teasing, for now.
He directed his attention fully to Jake now, his attitude taking a more serious turn. âI just spoke with Callum. Weâve found something important I was looking for, so Iâll be off tomorrow evening to fetch itâ.
Jake deflated a little at Chrisâs words, his mind already jumping to conclusions that he had no evidence to support them with. And yet he thought them all the same. Is he trying to get away from me? Does he regret what we did?
Chris caught Jakeâs sudden alarm, though it wasnât his intention to cause him stress. âWould you like to accompany me?â He quickly finished his train of thought. Of course he didnât give Jake very many details to formulate a decision from, but he hoped he would agree anyway.
Details or not, Jake wasnât concerned about where they would be headed to. His mind was now running back and forth debating on whether or not he could stand leaving knowing the people heâd sworn to protect would be here where he couldnât get to them if need be. âCan my brothers come?â
Josh, who had been standing beside them trying not to interrupt, couldn't help himself any longer. âAnother road trip? Is it somewhere more exciting than the middle of fucking nowhere Nebraska? Because Iâm already bored out of my mind sitting around hereâ.
âPhilidelphia, Chester specificallyâ Chris answered him, and Joshâs eyes lit up at the sound of it.
âCount me inâ He reached forward and took one of Chrisâs hands into his own, giving him an overzealous handshake.
His arm still shaking Chris looked back toward Jake who shrugged his shoulders and nodded in agreement. âGreat, we will make all of the arrangements tonight. If youâre not still packed then youâll need to get a few things together. Weâll be gone a couple of daysâ.
They expected another long road trip but when Danny followed the directions Callum had given him on the map it wasnât another stretch of highway they faced, actually it was a runway. Jake stared out the window as they drove further through the private airstrip towards a singular hanger in the distance, stopping when someone dressed in a pilot's uniform came out waving them down and directed them where to park.
âWeâre flying to Pennsylvania?â Sam was the first to state the obvious, though everyone was sharing in his shock.
âCallum told me he had connections to private charters that specialized in night time flying, but I wasnât expecting this eitherâ. Danny replied, putting the car in park and handing the keys over to the second man who had run out to meet them.
âThe rest of your party is waiting for you onboardâ The pilot addressed them all at once as he walked briskly into the hangar where a jet was already roaring alive ready for take off. They didnât have long to stop and ask questions or take a look around as they were all urged one by one up the steps and through the cabin door.
Inside Chris was already sitting in his seat, sipping on a glass of bubbling white wine.
âYou didnât say weâd be flyingâ Jake mumbled to him as he took the last seat open next to Chris. Danny and Sam obviously chose to sit together behind them and Josh took the single seat across the aisle.
âAre you nervous?â Chris leaned forward for the spare glass that was sitting at the table in front of them and pulled another bottle of red wine from the ice bucket. He poured just a tasting before handing it off to Jake. âThis should calm youâ.
Jake inspected the contents for a moment. He wasnât scared to drink something Chris had given him, heâd already done it more than once after all, but he didnât see how a glass of wine would help him at all. When he brought the glass to his nose to take a smell he noticed there was something different about it than any wine heâd ever encountered before. He drank it in one go, feeling the familiar ease in his throat that feeding gave him. âWhat is this?â He questioned, noticing the bottle Chris had placed back in the ice didnât have a label.
âItâs fermented blood. A speciality of this airline. Callum told me it was his favorite so I had some brought on board for youâ.
âThank youâ Jake set the glass back onto the table and let Chris pour him a full serving this time to sip on.
âHave you flown before?â Chris asked, surprising Jake again with small talk while the plane started to roll its way towards the runway.
âA few times with my parents when they were alive, but just short flightsâ.
Chris raised his brows and Jake was suddenly aware that despite how much they had talked in the past two days he had failed to mention anything about his parentâs death. It wasnât like he was trying to keep it to himself, but it honestly just hadnât crossed his mind to bring it up. Actually if he really thought about it, Jake would have to admit that he kind of liked that Chris didnât know much about his past. Everyone from home knew what had happened. It was a terrible thing, and he still grieved the loss, but it was like every time he bumped into someone who wanted to catch up they would have to apologize all over again and it was tiring to constantly be reminded of the open wound on his heart.
Chris didnât apologize. He was well aware of the pain Jake carried with him, so instead he just reached over and laced their fingers together right as they began to take flight.
After about twenty minutes of assent the captain came over the intercom and announced that they were free to move around the cabin. Sam jumped up first and immediately began to open up all of the small cabinets in search of snacks.
âPlease tell me we can get some take out wherever we're going cause I am starvingâ.
âWe would have to check and see if it's still there, but I know of this lovely tavern that was refurbished in the ninetiesâ Chris suggested. âIt was originally built in 1765. I used to meet Benjamin there for dinner and drinks from time to time because it was close to his print shopâ.
âBenjamin?â Sam questioned as he munched on some bland corn nuts heâd finally found. It looked like theyâd been left behind by someone else, but he was going to eat them anyway. It was going to be about two and a half more hours until they landed and his stomach had already started growling since theyâd gotten in the car.
âBenjamin Franklin, he was a close acquaintance of mine while I was traveling. In fact he let me stay at his guest house for a couple of weeks while we were working on a project togetherâ.
Samâs jaw dropped and he turned to Danny to see if heâd heard that correctly. âDid he just say Benjamin Franklin?â
Danny just chuckled and went back to grazing over his book. Sam hadnât quite gotten used to meeting people who had been around for a long time and personally knew historical figures. Danny himself wasnât even that old and yet he and Sam had already had the mind-blowing conversation about all of the famous band members Danny had met while they were in their prime after he and Dave ran off together for a few years.
âIâm going to pretend like I didnât just hear you were besties with Benjamin fucking Franklin and go mind my own business somewhereâ. Sam excused himself and Jake leaned over to apologize for his idiot baby brotherâs crudeness. Chris laughed it off, he was enjoying getting to know Jakeâs family - as eccentric as they all were.
Josh leaned over the armrest of his seat for his turn to annoy them next. âSo what was it like? The American colonies. Is what they teach us in the textbooks even accurate?â
âIâd say a good bit of it is, at least the major happenings. Life back then was simpler. You didnât have to worry about more than what directly affected you. Crime was actually significantly less than it is nowadays. People fought for what they had so in turn we appreciated things moreâ. Jake and Josh both sat quietly and listened as Chris recounted the past again, giving them a first hand look into a life they had only ever read about. âThat being said, it was hard. The mornings were cold and the nights were long. I was fortunate enough to come from an influential family in my hometown back in England. They ran a series of bathhouses that were built by the Romans. It was beautiful then and itâs even beautiful nowâ.
âAfter I finished university I went back home and worked to save up for my travels, and when I arrived in the colonies it didnât take long to find my group of people who helped me along my journey. Benjamin being one of themâ.
Chris looked back to Jake sitting next to him, directing his next words to him specifically. âYouâre lucky you have family that can accompany you on your journey. Makes it less lonely, to always be surrounded by your loved onesâ.
âAt this point it feels like weâre just a bunch of strays running around aimlesslyâ Jake admit with a sigh, finishing his glass and placing it on the far corner of the table to show he didnât need a refill. âBut youâre right. Iâm glad we have each otherâ.
âYouâre all pretty close arenât you?â By this point Chris had let Jakeâs hand go, but they were still sitting close enough that Jake could feel the warmth radiating off of his body. Hear the sound of his heart thumping at a steady peaceful pace. Smell the hint of cherry enticing him to draw ever closer.
âJosh and I, always. Sam has tried to go off on his own but I donât think he really wants to leave us behind. We had to look after him when our parents passed so now we get the brunt of his rebellion. I worry about him, but heâs just as grown as we are so I know I need to let him live his life the way he wants toâ. It felt strange talking about his brothers while they were in the same area as he was, but when Chris looked at him with those eyes that stared deep into him, so focused and intense, it was like there was no one else. Josh was entertained now by gazing out the window at the sparkling lights thousand of feet down below, and Sam was talking behind them with Danny so neither were really paying attention.
âAre you worried heâs leaving you behind, or that youâre leaving him?â Chris questioned. He didnât realize how deep that hit Jake, so when he watched his features twist in confusion over how to answer Chris tried to clarify. âI mean youâre a vampire and heâs not. I guess thatâs why youâre looking for the cureâ.
âWeâre looking for the cure for Josh. He never asked for this, but I didâ.
Chris looked taken aback. That wasnât what heâd expected when heâd met Jake. How reserved he was, and quiet, hiding himself behind a mask of composure. âSo youâre not planning on taking the cure if we find it?â
Jake nibbled his lip. He hadnât asked himself that yet. Being so focused on Josh he hadnât had much time to consider what he wanted for himself. âI donât knowâ he confessed, eyes flickering over to his twin knowing he could hear even if they kept their voices down. âMaybe, one dayâ.

Hello again weâve made it to another Thursday! Another shorter chapter, but trust I got a bit of writing done this week and Iâm trying to hurry it along because we still have ALOT to get to
Pairings: Jake Kiszka X Chris Turpin *Mirador slash ohh laa laa
Warnings and tags: 18+ only, please minors do not enter here, hard crushing, suggestive thoughts, some talk about death, kissing, biting, blood drinking, vampire!AU
Word count: 3.3k

It was interesting, it really was, how the brain could think so many different thoughts all at once. At least thatâs how Jake felt trying to focus on what Chris was showing him. He had years of valuable knowledge of both the human body and the chemistry of blood, thousands of notes on antidotes to nearly every infection imaginable documented in his books, and he was offering to teach all he could in one day to Jake with a gentle voice and a steady hand. Jake was keeping up, but not by patience, only because every thought was consumed by him.
Like how cute his coy little smile was, rising to fill his ocean blue eyes. How his hands were surprisingly soft as they kept brushing against Jakeâs own. Sometimes Jake even purposefully let his hand linger near his in hopes heâd brush against it again.
Chris blushed when he realized that was what Jake was doing, but Jake resolved himself to believe heâd only imagined it.
The rain had stopped at some point, but the glass that wasnât covered in growth was fogging with the evening humidity that filled the air now. That same humidity made Chrisâs hair cling to his skin and Jake was transfixed with a drop of sweat that rolled down his neck from behind his ear, getting lost somewhere underneath the collar of his shirt.
How Jake wished he could follow that droplet, with his tongue, and now he was imagining undressing him slowly so he could show him a little of what he had learned about the human body. He had the experience after all, and it was something he never shied away from gloating about. Everyone usually went wild for a man who showed a little confidence. Especially in the bedroom.
The feeling he got from watching Chris was different than anyone heâd been with bore though. Admittedly, whether it was vain or not, Jake never felt on the same level with the people he got into bed with. Whether it was the nurses from the hospital that whispered to each other shared stories about him as he strut the halls with his head held high, or even the occasional man that caught his interest for a night or two, besides the initial carnal attraction there was never any real connection there.
Jake wouldnât describe himself as someone who desired more than his quaint upbringing, more than his small East Texas town. On the contrary, he used to believe he was exactly where he was meant to be. Everyone loved him. At work, when heâd stop by the bar, even at the old bank downtown and the grocery market up the street. Seeing Jake walk into a room made people smile and he was pleased with that simplicity. Until he wasnât.
Listening to Chris speak of his travels, of his home in Europe - a small ancient city that the Romans built, it made Jake realize just how much of life he had been missing when he unconsciously settled with what he had. What would it be like to experience these wonders with him? Chris was so calming and easy to get along with even after just one day of talking with each other that it already had Jake daydreaming about walking down the cobblestone. The glow from street lanterns highlighting their path and turning the blond of his companionâs hair a regal shade of gold. Jake would take his hand and pull him through a narrow opening only to steal a few quick kisses before resuming their walk, giggling together at how tousled their hair would be from grabbing at each other in the heat of the moment.
Chris noticed Jakeâs eyes looked dark and distant where before they were sparkling with wonder at everything he was showing him. âWould you like to take a break? Weâve been at this for a few hoursâ.
Jake shook his head, his train of thought fleeing with the motion. âIâm sorry, Iâm paying attentionâ.
Chris set the strange instruments that before now Jake had never seen down and stepped back from the table. âWell I could use some fresh air. The sun is down. Would you like to join me for a walk?â
Glancing at the windows, Jake hadnât even noticed it was already dark. Should he go looking for his brothers? Weâre they looking for him? Chris was waiting patiently for his answer so he blurted out the first reply that came to mind. âIâd love toâ.
They walked further through the cemetery which extended on down the hill reaching the remnants of a broken fence so far in the distance that Jake would not have been able to see it in the dark while he was still human. He could see all sorts of things while in the dark of the night now. Fireflies dancing in the fields surrounding them looked like yellow stars floating around in aimless patterns. The brush and leaves and grass almost looked like it was growing, and he could make out textures in the leaves he never once could see before. It was almost overwhelming how much detail he could perceive now. Thatâs why he wore his tinted sunglasses even at night. To dull everything a little bit like it used to be.
Right now, however, he walked next to Chris without any of his comforting things, not knowing where they were headed and not caring. It was quiet except for the sound of their trekking and when Jake glanced over he could see the tiny hairs that decorated Chrisâs face. Before he could contain himself he was already playing through his mind how they would feel across his own skin.
âSo what was it like losing what, a hundred years? I mean I guess time is just relative to you when you have an endless amount of it, but I still canât imagine the disorientating feeling of waking up in a different century. So much happened in that time, both world wars, prohibition, the Great Depression, fuck when were airplanes invented again?â Jake found himself rambling now to keep himself from thinking other things. How very unlike himself.
â1903â Chris answered off the top of his head. âThe idea of âheaver-than-air powered flightâ was around before then so it wasnât a completely foreign concept to me, but being able to cross the sea in hours instead of months was a very pleasant change to say the leastâ.
Jake nod. As much as he was fascinated by ship sailing, especially from that era, admiring a concept was certainly different from experiencing it. Heâd learned that the hard way since becoming a vampire.
âThat was one of the predominant reasons why I decided to do it. Sleep for that long. Technology advanced differently back then. The world operated on hand tools and labor, not machines and computers. I reached a point where everything Iâd learned up to then simply wasnât going to be enoughâ.
âHmmâ Jake stopped next to a large tombstone with a crack down the middle. The name was hardly legible anymore. Thomas something⌠funny that was his name too. What would happen in a hundred years from now? Thatâs what he thought about at that moment. He had a few friends back at home that would likely be trying to contact him at some point to ask when he was coming back. Diane for one at least. She had already sent him a few messages wishing him a safe trip after heâd stopped by her apartment once more and given her his number, among other things.
Should I even go back at all? Thereâs really nothing left for me there. Even if Jake did decide to go home for a while, people would start to notice how young he still looked. Eventually there would come a point where heâd have to leave again otherwise too many questions would be raised. So what was the point then. Funny, he was still here but it felt like his old life, as it was, had already just about ended.
He could fake his own death. Leave a piece of himself behind in the form of a slab of granite with his name carved on it next to his mother and fatherâs. There would be people who would visit it, he knew that because he always noticed some fresh flowers left for his parents around the time of their passing.
âThe best treat was musicâ Chris continued drawing Jake back from his internal mulling. It was comforting that he didnât seem to mind the awkward dulls in their conversation. âClassical was fabulous in my day of course, but I went on a deep dive of every decade Iâd missed and was amazed by it all. The early days of blues is what really blew me away though. I thought about settling in Detroit for a while, or Nashville, but somehow I ended up back here insteadâ.
Excitement bubbled up in Jake again. They shared a love for music, what a coincidence. âI love the blues. My father had a huge collection of limited edition records, we used to sit in his office and listen to albums on repeat until I could play all my favorite tracks by ear myselfâ.
Chris looked impressed, âYou play?â
âI do. Whenever I have the chance. Something about just letting my fingers think for me and the strings talk for me makes living life so much easierâ. That might have sounded a little pathetic when he said it aloud, but it was genuinely how he felt. And now he was realizing that heâd never said something that vulnerable to anyone outside of his family before.
Maybe Josh got all the social genes between the two of them. He was musically inclined as well, loved to sing even when it got annoying, but he also liked to entertain so it all came easy to him. Jake on the other hand, he had taught himself for years how to play the guitar so by this point it was practically an extension of his body, mind, and soul. Everything else he was still learning.
âIâd love to hear it sometimeâ.
That could easily be arranged. Jake had insisted the acoustic heâd been gifted for his eighteenth birthday come along with them and it was still sitting in the trunk of their car waiting to be reunited. For now though he watched in curiosity as Chris approached a mausoleum, pushing the large stone door open for Jake to join him inside. How had he missed that this was even here?
Just like when they entered the green house a torch in each of the far corners lit themselves, illuminating the room and its few contents.
Inside there was a cast iron gate that creaked heavily when it was pushed aside. The side walls had built in stone benches that looked like they hadnât been touched in years, and right in the middle was a covered coffin made of the same stone the entire building was fabricated in sitting at about waist height.
What an odd place to visit on a walk. Jake thought, but even then he felt calm and content as he strolled around the small room taking it all in.
Chris leaned against the head of the coffin and Jake was about to mention something about how that person might not like being used as a place to sit until Chris beat him to the punch. âLovely place to spend 100 years, innit?â
Jake looked at Chris and the way he casually made himself comfortable, then it clicked. âThis is where you were all that time?â
âWhere else would I be?â He chuckled, and again Jake had to remind himself that he did not find it cute at all. âNo one bothers the dead. It was safe, dry. Iâm quite fond of the place actually, I had it built to replicate the ones in Louisianaâ.
Jake took a moment to look around again, seeing the place through a new set of eyes. There were so many intricacies from the curling molded vines and leaves that were craftfully formed on the iron gate, to carvings etched right into the stone walls. It was beautifully made, and the fire flickered in a way that made the room look like it was dancing.
When Jake turned back around to face Chris again he was shocked to see that he was starting to pull open the last few buttons of his shirt.
Meeting Jakeâs stunned expression Chris dropped his hands leaving his now unbuttoned shirt to fall slightly open. âI umm⌠was going to offer, but I didnât want to get my blouse stainedâ he stumbled to explain himself, finding his resolve half way through when Jakeâs eyes grew with interest. âAre you hungry?â
Licking his lips Jake approached slowly, a stalk heâd learned naturally, but hesitated to get any closer than a couple of feet. âI thought you were wearing a special perfume?â
âI washed it awayâ Chris answered him, his voice gone soft and meek in Jakeâs shadow. He wasnât a tall man, rather petite all around from the width of his shoulders to the space he took up when standing with his feet crossed, but while Chris leaned against his old stone bed they were exactly the same height. âI want you to have me, but I have one requestâ.
âA request?â The fire sparked behind Jake as his tone grew challenging, his feline-like grin curling into place as he stepped closer. âYou say that after admitting your defenses are downâ.
Chris didnât waver, even after only a day spent together he knew this tease Jake played was just an act. He wouldnât hurt him. âA kissâ he proposed like it was a worthy trade off. âKiss me first?â
Jakeâs initial reaction was to ask him if he was sure, but after a second thought it started to make sense. All of the stolen glances, bashful touches, hours and hours of talking, it had all accumulated to this and Jake was not about to leave this place without granting this beautiful man his wish.
They did not look away from each other for even a blink as Jake leaned in, fitting his hand in the warm spot against his jaw and just beneath his ear. Chris was still, not moving closer but also not away as Jake bridged the gap between them, slotting their lips together just as his eyes fluttered closed.
It was like time itself had stopped for them. Chrisâs breath came out in one warm satisfied sigh and before he could stop it Jake was pressing his lips to him again, harder and with more intention than before. Chris reciprocated by placing a hand at his waist, pulling Jake closer and deepening the kiss as they matched each otherâs intensity.
Jake would have been pleased to continue like this for the rest of the night. Forget the others, forget their responsibilities, all he wanted right now was to explore this feeling he had. A feeling that told him like a voice shouting in the back of his head that heâd found someone special. And he needed to protect that. Chris broke the kiss first though, pulling away and looking at Jake with flushed cheeks and huffing to catch his breath then nodded to show he was ready and tilted his head to the side.
Usually this was where the beast would take over. His vision would blur and all he could imagine was feeling his teeth pierce flesh. This time however, Jake was slow and easy as he gathered Chrisâs hair to one side. Pausing to admire the shade of his silky skin and how his shirt fell off his shoulder a little exposing one of his pinkened nipples. He leaned in again, placing a few kisses to the side of his neck until Chris was tightening his grip in a silent plea to just do it already. So Jake did, he bit down and waited for Chris to tense up and cry out, but when he didnât Jake relaxed and let the blood flow into his mouth.
Cherry and almonds, thatâs what he tasted like. Jake was instantly drunk on it.
Chris had befriended a vampire or two in his lifetime, and he was always willing to help a friend in need with a quick slit of his wrist or poke of a finger. Heâd never gone as far as to let anyone bite him though. Certainly not a new vampire that was still learning how to control himself.
Just as he was starting to feel a little fuzzy Jake stopped drinking, electing instead to lap at the wound until the bleeding had stopped fully. As if still locked in a trance Jake turned his head and captured Chrisâs lips with his own again. He kissed him on the mouth fervently for another moment then trailed down, his fingers now pulling at the collar of Chrisâs shirt that still clung to his form to gain access to more of his chest.
Chris sighed again, tossing his head back and threading his fingers through Jakeâs hair but not daring to tug at the strands. He tasted bitterness on his lips, the remnants of his own blood on Jakeâs tongue, but in this instance it was a sweet sentiment so he didnât mind.
âAh!â His voice felt raw and wild echoing off the walls as Jake nipped at his other nipple but it only encouraged Jake to go further, pressing himself between Chrisâs legs and grinding their clothed erections together.
There was always a part of himself that drove Jake to pursue physical relationships with people. It was easier for him. Just like it was easier to play a guitar to convey his emotions, he was well practiced in using his talents to pull all sorts of pretty sounds from a partner. It gave him satisfaction to deliver pleasure. There was no worry about coming off the wrong way, or saying the wrong thing, all he had to do was listen and feel his way around someoneâs body to know exactly how to make them come apart for him.
With Chris that drive was still there, but instead of each move of his hands being a calculated reaction his mind was completely lost in the moment and his own primal needs took over. It was like their bodies were magnetized, the way he fit so well with their chests pressed against each other as Jake pulled Chris into another kiss.
For a moment Jake thought he could feel his heart beating wildly, but that was impossible. When he realized it wasnât his own heart thumping like a war drum on the horizon, he pulled away staring into the eyes of someone heâd only just met but felt like heâd known for ages.
âWhat is this? Some kind of spell?â He muttered, too afraid that if he spoke loudly the walls would crack and this entire frame in time theyâd found himself caught in would come crumbling down around them.
Chris cupped Jakeâs cheek tenderly. âA spell maybe, but not one of my own. Perhaps the universe has called us here together for some reason we can't comprehend, and Iâm not going to question it. Perhaps I was meant to sleep that long so that Iâd be here now, with youâ.
Jake had never once considered that the universe played a part in his life. Why would it? Who was he in the grand scheme of all things? But even in all of his years spent as a human heâd never felt more alive than he did right now.
âWhat if I donât believe it?â Jake contested, trying his hardest to put up a fight now before he was sure to be consumed by this fateful connection.
âTake it or leave it loveâ Chris smiled as his thumb caressed Jakeâs cheekbone. âBut something like thisâ he guided Jake into another kiss. One that was tender, heartfelt, and as they met the flames from the two torches in the back of the room arched and crackled again. âDoesnât come around for centuriesâ.

Itâs been a while since Iâve done a chapter teaser, so how about one today? I really love this weekâs update and I think you will tooâŚ
See you guys on Thursday đ¤
Just like when they entered the green house a torch in each of the far corners lit themselves, illuminating the room and its few contents.
Inside there was a cast iron gate that creaked heavily when it was pushed aside. The side walls had built in stone benches that looked like they hadnât been touched in years, and right in the middle was a covered coffin made of the same stone the entire building was fabricated in sitting at about waist height.
What an odd place to visit on a walk. Jake thought, but even then he felt calm and content as he walked around the small room taking it all in.
